Ffh Nes Ii

I didn't think you were complaining Ekolite. Sometimes someone will PM me something and its worth passing on the answer to all players. I am starting to realize this nes is a little complicated so if things can be said 'more simply' its worth repeating.

Why! The Herthi are Here!

Grada hunched over his recording wood. Taking his chisel he formed the number "2" the food that the gatherers turned over to the city, and he formed a pit, showing the nuts and food are kept there until eaten. Standing up, he placed the wood in the slot for Year 48 of Inspirment... Suddenly, as he sat down he heard a commotion...

He picked his 73 year old frame and called, "Reni, come over and please give my my staff." Reni came, a 58 year old himself and housekeeper, and handed over the staff. Grada sighed before he continued. This was the staff he recieved the last time he traded with the Herthi. He walked down from the Store Tower, where scribes, merchents and food is stored to be sold. It was not perfect but it offered a view and a dry place. He slowly walked downt he stairs...

He suddenly walked as if we was from a dream... those sounds are familiar... could it be? He started to run as fast as his very old frame can carry him. He ran past workshops and houses, as he reached the gate he saw a large party, the leader saw him and beaconed him... he couldn't believe his eyes... they are... the Herthi!

Excellent- it goes into the stories list.

I like what you wrote about the herthi and how they blossomed into a story arc for you. Well done Charles.

Valada Kylorinkin

The peasants shuffled nervously into the great hall of the palace of Kylorin in Cevedes. Their cloths were little more than Rags, and they were awed by the Majestic Grandeur of the tapestries depicting the Amurite Past: Amurite Phalanxes in battle with the white beast, the Amurite, The North Wind felled by swarms of Amurite arrows, and, behind the Great Throne of the Amurites, Kylorin himself smiting down the Lord of Winter. It was the first time any of the peasants had been in Cevedes, let alone the Amurite Palace. Finally, their gaze turned upwards towards the person sitting in the Throne, surrounded by various courtiers.
Valada Kylorinkin gazed coldly down towards the peasants. She wore the Crimson robes of the Magus, the Lord of the Amurites, and on her face and right cheek were Tattooed the blue spiral representative of her mastery over the people she ruled.
Her voice cut through their muddled and awestruck minds, drawing them towards her flies towards light. “You have been persistent in trying to get in to speak to me. You have succeeded. What is it you wished to say?”
“well, ma’rm, it’s this way,” spoke the cleanest of the peasants, “Like I were say’n to Hobbin, t’it aint fair, what be happen’n to we. It aint right for us to be kept to work like we was animals. We aint animals, we aren’t. ma’rm.”
“Who treats you as though you were animals?” her voice was still pleasant.
“Our lor’ ma’rm. He do!”
“Fools” Valada spoke, and though her words were insulting, the men were still enthralled by her Beauty and Charm. To their minds, she spoke as if in a manner to reprimand an erring child. “Poor Fools! If you are unhappy, all you must do is magic your way away. Melt the chains that bond you! It is the Amurite way.” Now she spoke to her court as much as to the peasants “Only those unworthy of being free are kept, for those without the slightest talent are only little better than Animals. Guards, take these men away, bind them in chains, and send them back to their Lord. Should they manage to escape, they shall be free.” And with this, She smiled at the peasants.
As they were herded away, she knew that the peasants were henceforth as devoted servants as any could be. They would travel home praising her fairness and beauty.

She had always been good at charming people, at getting her way, and she suspected her considerable magic talent may have had something to do with it. Though she wasn’t fully conscious of her power over others, she had small suspicions that if she had the time and inclination to study the texts of the past, she would find something about Kylorin’s power over others using nothing but his Mind.
Her Grandfather, Thomas, may his soul forever travel with Kylorin’s, had the same power. She had recognized it when she had first met the wizened old man in the council of elders. He had them all wrapped around his finger, even the old doddering senile ones.
She remembered his burial well. She still went down into the catacombs to sit near his bones and speak to him of matters of state: she almost thought he would answer sometimes.
A cough brought her back to the present. The Bannor Ambassador was Walking into the great hall.
He bowed, his fist over his heart, in Bannor Manner. “My Lady, I Bring gifts of friendship from the Bannor People.” He looked up and smiled, and she realized she had never before seen a more beautiful smile. She smiled back at him.
“Oh, and what are these Gifts?”
Wordlessly, though he continued to look at her, he gestured, and a magnificent tapestry was brought forth. It Spoke of the Bannor Exodus from hell, of Capria Standing in the center of the gate, Standing alone against the Forces of the Lord of Hope, as the bannor people streamed out beneath her outstretched arms. The Courtiers all gasped. Never had they scene anything as beautiful. Valada merely smiled.
“And I too, have a gift for the Bannor.” As She spoke, artisans brought in a Tapestry of the Slaying of Mulcarn, the Amurites standing united behind Kylorin, as the Doviello kissed his feet. Behind them them, Mulcarn lay, His divine Body laying on the ground, pierced by the Sword of the Compact. “The Bannor are not the Only ones with a great and proud History. They would do well to treasure this as well as we will treasure their gift.”

That is a verygood story Thomas. Your Amurites are quite 'rightious'.

Does this mean i should change your 'civic' status Thomas?

great: again- good story!

did you really get a tapestry?

from Kol? nah... just story telling to represent the friendship between our people...

Unless kol wants to send me one? (Kol, Respond to me story with yours!:p)

Sure. At the weekend I might. By the way you know the plan is not going ahead this turn right? We have more important things to do at the moment. I'll be less vague in private if you need it.

I'm worried, being in such close proximity to them. I hope I'm left out of this as I have problems of my own right now. Which depending on how it goes I should have a story next turn.

We hereby lay claim to the area of land known by our cartographers as ''Region 30'', assuming it is not already home to a native race. We hope and assume that there will be no contraditictions to this declaration. We appreciate your compliance.

The High Council.

@All players:

Your starting money was meant to help you develop an infrastructure. If you fail to develop an infrastructure and run out of starting money, it will be very difficult for you to develop. If you are only producing 2-4 food per turn and unable make enough money to buy a simple improvement like a farm you may want to consider making basic infastructure development a priority.

Your nation and your orders are yours to command as you will so i won't tell anyone what to do... also... its still pretty early so maybe i am worrying for nothing.

Good luck to everyone.

I.

At the eight day from the start of the Summer Harvest, at the Year 356. of the Age of Rebirth, per Kuriotate calendar, a great expedition set out of Avelorn. Their mission was to meet the strange creatures that inhabited lands that engineers wanted to settle and civilize. Kuriotate linguists managed to learn their language, and diplomatic message from the Senate was sent.

Head of expedition was former Senator and experienced diplomat, Gaeer Mesert. He and his ancestors were amongst the founding fathers of Kuriotates, having great skill in negotiating with Kuriotate tribes and their skill founded the liberal and multicultural Kuriotate confederacy.

Now, their mission was completely different. Tribes they were dealing with were not human, but... strange creatures. Senate, however, firmly believed that Kuriotate tolerance for foreign cultures was sufficient to attract even such creatures into confederacy. Many Centaurs already swore their allegiance, to the prosperity of both parties. Deep inside Curia chambers, however, away from the eyes of citizens, Senators were grimly considering the possibility of war, generals were planning movements and logistics and some even thought that Kuriotate lands itself may be in danger.
But emissaries were sent with more optimistic messages. Gaeer was to meet with leader of those creatures, and to find as much as possible about their way of life, their religion, and culture.

General message that Gaeer had was word about Kuriotate nation up west, that accepts new tribes. Gaeer was to meet leaders with generous gifts from the Senate - Kuriotate wares like statues, jewels, minor magical trinkets, that may impress those tribes. Senate was willing to abandon the idea of building a city, if those tribes joined Kuriotates. Tribes would have all rights and duties of Kuriotate citizens - they would have right to use the knowledge and technology of Kuriotates, and to self-govern themselves, to preserve region as intact if they wanted to. As for their duties, they would have to share their knowledge with rest of the nation, and military aid in case of war. Also, they would have to pay a tax like every other tribe, to sustain the growth of nation, but not until 10 seasons after they joined Kuriotates.

Gaeer was instructed never to directly threaten with military action, but to still subtly remind tribal leaders of immense Kuriotate strength that they do not want against them, but rather on their side to protect them.

Also, his mission was to learn as much as possible about tribes - culture, but also things like their courage, resentment towards strangers, and things like military strength, so that Senate may decide how to act based upon new knowledge.

Gaeer has returned from the lands of the 'Kappa' (as they call themselves). His report has been filed to his superiors (see PM).

EDIT: Gaeer had pictures of the strange creatures drawn and these pictures quickly spread as the curiosity of Kuriotates is well known.
