FfH2 0.25 Bug Thread

You guys know the drill. Post any errors you find with FfH 0.25.
7. Fixed the error with the missing city screen on Vista.

I am new to this game and forum, but I am having the missing city problem. I am only using the store-bought BTS with the 3.13 patch.

Do I need to download the 'Mod: Fall from Heaven II 0.25' and then use the patch, or just use the patch by itself to correct the problem?

I am sorry if this is a redundant question. I skimmed through the thread, but everyone here seems to be light-years ahead of little ol' me. ;)

If you are missing the city screen in regular old BtS, we can't help you in here.

If you are missing it in FfH, you should already have 2.25 then, unless you are playing on .23 maybe?

Anyway, if you have .25 already, you ought to be running patch L, found by link on first post of this thread. (so to play FfH, download both the .25 mod and the L patch, install in that order).

The Barbarians don't seem to be getting the mana of all the other civs (for affinity purposes, etc.) like they did pre-BtS . Perhaps this is just not implemented yet?

Ok, this is a major one. I downloaded the installer and installed it to C:/My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/Mods, but there's a problem. Whenever I try to load the mod, it gives me...

"GFC Error: Failed to initialize the primary control theme"

What gives?

Dont install to my documents. You want to install to something like: "C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Civilization IV\Beyond the Sword\Mods\"

May I suggest that the FFH installer and patch find the BtS mod folder automatically? All the data needed for the automation is in the registry. Might give an option to create a desktop shortcut to launch FFH as well.

I tried the Program Files/Firaxis Games/Beyond the Sword/Mods (the one that it suggests you install it to) folder AND the My Documents/My Games/Beyond the Sword/Mods folder. They didn't work individually, and they didn't work together.

On its own, the My Documents folder would get the GFC error. On its own, the Program Files folder doesn't recognize it as a mod.

my workers can't build mana nodes.

I run FFH under Vista, and am patched up with the latest Civ4, BTS, Warlords versions. Also have installed the FFH patch.

The AI can build nodes happily, but my workers can't, the interface stating, that I have to "Research:Never" to build the node in question.

I do have the necessary technologies available, I just can't build nodes and that does start to be a competitive disadvantage.

If anyone could help me to iron that out I'd appreciate it.

Use adepts to build nodes.

Yeah, it's regular old BtS. I guess I will play with the options some more.

Thanks.

Still no luck. Since I am having a similar problem that others have had, does anyone else have any ideas? Should I download the patch to BtS, or download .25 and then the patch?

I'd like some advice before I try doing random things. :)

Here's my info again: I am running Vista, with Civ IV Gold (with Warlords) installed, plus BtS with the 3.13 patch. By the way, what 'version' is the BtS version? Is that already .25?

Thanks,

In One City Challenge games, the spell Restore City allows us to have more than one city.

I don't think the map works with BTS.... Not yet at least. It should be ready soon, but I'm not sure whether or not that is the cause of the problem.

I had a bug too, probably already reported, but I built the Mercurian gate and switched to them, and now the game is just stuck on "Waiting for other civs". It isn't frozen, but the turn won't advance at all.

Ozzy,

Thanx for your reply.

I guess I'lll have to wait & re-start a new game when it's ready, then.

yes, it is.

Since the BtS version is 0.25, according to Opferlamm, I downloaded the patch, installed it to C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Gold\Beyond the Sword\Mods and it is still not showing the city when I run it from the BtS interface. Should I be running it some other way? I get the feeling that using the BtS at all is not what I am supposed to be doing.

I tried to fix the shortcut in the directory that the patch created, to directed it where the executable file actually is, I get a lot of xml errors. I went to C:\Users\George\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword and changed the CustomAssets folder to CustomAssets.old, and it created a new CustomAssets folder, but still gives me the same three or four xml errors over and over and never runs.

I am feeling pretty lost. Any help would be appreciated. It is helps, pretend you are explaining it to a small child. :)

Eleos,

Go to This thread, and follow my advice from post #10. Just replace that guy's name with yours so the path is correct. I suspect it is the same problem.

Otherwise, follow my advice that led up to that post and provide me with the path I asked him for and I can tell you how to fix things (path I need is where does the shortcut to launch BtS direct you)

Ok,

I moved the folder Fall from Heaven 2 025 to

C:\Users\George\Documents\My Games\Beyond the Sword\MODS.

The target of the icon in the Fall from Heaven 2 025 folder is set to:

"C:\Program Files\2K Games\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4 Gold\Beyond the Sword\Civ4BeyondSword.exe" mod=\Fall from Heaven 2 025 (which is where the executable is). I double click on that icon. I get

XML Error

Tag: ERA_ORDE in Info class was incorrect
Current XML file is: xml\Civilizations/CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml

Note the backslash after xml and forward slash after Civilizations. Not a typo.

I click OK and the error repeats with:
ERA_LEAF
ERA_VEIL
ERA_RUNE
ERA_OCTO
and then back to ERA_ORDE again. I end up having to kill the process.

(hopeful look)
