FfH2 0.31 Bug Thread

"Hyborem's Whisper will only trigger in single player games (was causing OOS's)."

=>Is it the world spell or an event ?
 
My friend and I tried playing another game last night, and I have some more bugs for ya.

bug #1:

The AI seems to be insanely bad at defending their cities. I was right next to Faeryl Viconia, and noticed that her closest city was being guarded by 2 scouts. So I declared war hoping to get a quick city or 2 out of her before declaring peace. As I started exploring her territory, I saw that she was using scouts to guard *all* of her cities, with maybe one warrior in the capital. She even started sending her scouts into my territory, I guess to try to attack me? She literally had dozens of scouts, apparently built for combat roles. I know that AI programming is not a priority right now, but this really seems quite broken.

bug # 2:
I researched infernal pact, and switched to the Hyborem. The game instantly went out of sync, and stayed that way, even after my friend disconnected. The OOS message wasn't even flashing, it was just solid on my screen. Is switching to the hyborem supposed to work in multiplayer games? If not, perhaps it should be disabled for multiplayer. Anyway, here's a savegame from right before I switched to the Hyborem:

bug # 3:
Resuming multiplayer savegames with patch D does not seem to work at all. I mentioned this in a previous post (on page 27 of this thread), I am doing the hosting, and I can load the savegame just fine, but when my friend tries to join, he connects, and it looks like its loading, but he just gets kicked off before successfully joining. Here's 3 savegames from right before I switched to the hyborem and right after:

All of them exhibit this problem of not being able to resume multiplayer games. And in this game there is no Shaeim civilization, so that rules out them being the cause of the savegame problems.

I know this problem did not exist in patch C, my friend and I resumed a couple of different multiplayer games several times each with that patchlevel.
 
In a single player game as the Amurites, I've noticed that the Celestial Compass does not provide the stated +50% production bonus to rituals (Rites of Oghma, specifically). The +100% bonus for Metamagic Mana does apply. This has been true in several games I have played as the Amurites.
 
I killed Barnaxus with my Hidden Nationality Alazkhan, and while I got the message for 'you have captured Pieces of Barnaxus' and a golden hammer as well, next turn came around and they were subsequently not there.

Maybe a way to let the pieces hang around?

HN units are not allowed to capture anything, including equipment. They always destroy such things instead. There is no way around this without an SDK change.

My modmod will definitely change this when I have time to make it. It will also let your HN units capture slaves and spawn baby spiders and werewolves, although not let you capture cities while HN.

Also, when a unit with Marksman defeats the weakest unit in a stack containing more than one unit (including hawks, slaves, workers, and equipment) it is destroyed. I'll try to change how marksman works in my modmod too so that non-combat units will not be targeted and thus destroyed.

Hidden Nationality units can capture equipment. Im guessing an invisible AI unit grabbed them from you.
 
Just a quick inquiry, I've noticed that the Tar demons and fire elementals don't have models in my games...they are just invisible. Is this a bug or am I missing a file or something?

Is this in the civilopedia or the actual game?

I can't see a model in the pedia but when they appear in game they have their models...

do you have version D? just checking. Anyways, they do show up in the game, but don't have models in the pedia or in the unit info window.

oh yea, in the changes for upcoming patch E: "11. Player options will follow you if you switch players (so you wait at end of turn will be set when you switch to Hyborem)."

Thanks Kael, now at least that annoyance will stop.

Sometimes Kael forgets to include graphics changes in later patches. Have you installed all the patches up to d, or just d?

They have never appeared in the pedia. Thats because those 2 units aren't models, they are effects. Actually if you look really closely you will see a tiny ant, a little black dot running around on the ground beneath the fire elemental (its completly obscured by the tar demon). That tiny dot is a great prophet shrunk into nothingness. The fire elemental and tar demon are actually his halo expanded up to huge proportions (at least in comparison to him).

The pedia doesnt display effects, so they are blank there. If they arent showing up in the game for you then I suspect you have some graphical option turned off.

The fire elemental and tar demon havent changed in 0.31 so they wouldnt be included in any patch.
 
Hmm. i might have disabled some effects...to increase performance... I'll try enabling them again and see if that was the problem..

Edit: Ok, after enabling "effects" I am able to see the tar demon and fire elementals.
 
Several events that give culture don't scale with speed (insane agriculture advisor for one).
 
ok um, I'm getting an unexplained crash with hyborem, but this is with end turn on the very turn that I switch over to him. It's a game where I had already gotten a religious victory. If I don't change over to hyborem, it doesn't crash, I'm not sure what's going on here because there is no desert to create burning sands in my immediate vincinty.

I'll try reinstalling just in case I messed something up somehow. Then I'll check out the xp compatibility mode, got nothing to lose in trying it.

Seem to be getting a repeatable CTD because of burning sands on peaks. At least, it stops when I change them to something else. IIRC the regular maps don't generate desert peaks, but it seems this'll be a constant issue with custom maps unless fixed (this is on one of Rex's).

Edit: Nah, XP. My (quite unreliable, but anyway) memory is telling me the creation script makes desert peaks too, so maybe that's why people have been having issues on it with Hyborem.

Maybe the code for burning sands needs a close look at and as I've said elsewhere, we should get someone who has experience modding on Vista to figure out whether it's something in the coding or what. Also, my savegame above is a custom game, so if I missed some desert under a peak, that might have been why. Do you run Vista Yao? if so, then this probably indicates something going on with the coding, there's something that is not compatible with vista.
