FfH2 0.32 Bug Thread

Here you go.

Modular loading is disabled and the latest patch has been installed, overwriting all unit statistics files. I also added the savegame and the screenshot just before the crash. As soon as I select either the warrior or the settler, BOOM.

I'm fairly certain Orthus's ax isn't dropping when possessed by an AI, or it could come from city capture. I've only seen it in a city, in possession of a unit, and not seen it after I or an AI has captured the city. I don't have a save, but it should be easy to check with worldbuilder. Perhaps I shall do so.

Not exactly what you have asked for, but I am trying to find solution to the command bar problem for my modmod for a few days now. So far, I have found the following:

My modmod works just fine (xml+python+art) with vanilla 0.32 (well, after using vanilla compatibile CIV4CivilizationInfos.xml, CIV4LeaderHeadInfos.xml, I have already updated them to 0.32d in the main modmod)

After placing any additional files in FFh assets folder when running 0.32d, I get this all the time. Sometimes even 4 promotion dds is enough.

Anyway, this is what I get when adding art only (no Xml or python yet)

Re: the ax

Well, checked various combinations of stack attack and not, orthus possessed and not, and I can't reproduce the effect of the ax disappearing. If I ever get a save on it, I'll post.

No luck reproducing with your save. If you have a few minutes to help with this, PM your telephone number and I'll give you a call.

regarding Orthus Ax:

after Orthus hurling himself to his death at the walls of an AI city, that AI is not smart enough to take the ax, see screenshot

Its hard to keep track of the thing - In my currrent game the big red barbarian dragon took his axe from him. - Yea, there both in the same city. I don't think this behaviour is really a bug - exactly - but ... doen't seem right. If this happens some other times it may explain why people don't see it after Othrous is dead.

Is there anything setup so that the chance for things like planar gates priest/mage experience or other random % things are adjusted upwards or downwards based on gamespeed?

Will you get the same amount of units after 100 turning playing on epic speed as you will on quick speed from a planar gate is basicly the question.

About Orthus's axe, sometimes the AI does grab the axe, I think the Sidar grabbed it in one game.

Also, in another, I saw Orthus's axe in Ljosalfar territory as I was conquering the Bannor, but it was shown as owned by the Bannor (or maybe the Ljos, I don't remember exactly) and it was just sitting there. I don't know what the story behind that one is though.

Speaking of savegame, let me get that save with the axe sitting in Ljos territory.

edit: here they are. The earlier one is some time before I had started conquering the Bannor (I think I was starting to build up my iron golem army at that time. The axe is in Ljos territory and it looks like the Bannor are going to grab it.

I know the second one is a bit over a hundred turns (or a hundred years if you want to say that) later and I don't have a save where I saw the axe in the process of conquering. However, I don't see the axe anywhere, I know I don't have it because I never went to grab it (it was in Ljos territory and I didn't have open borders). I looked all over, in Doviello territory and Ljosalfar territory, even Acheron's city, and it doesn't even exist. Maybe it was 'destroyed' when I defeated the Bannor because it was owned by them at that time?

The civopedia still states mercenaries start with unidentified nationality in the general information section. I assume that was removed because it was too damm powerfull...

These units start with no experiance - could they be givin some small ability? - sorry wrong thread for that but couldn't resist.

Is anybody having trouble getting Gaelan? I haven't seen the event for him since .31. I know some people have said they are getting him, but I don't know whether the constellation events are crowding out the rarer events.

I'm playing a living world game as Calabim, so maybe he'll show up with the increased event frequency.

Mercenaries haven't had hidden nationality since Shadow. HN was moved to be a Council of Esus thing when Mercenaries were moved to the Guild of the Nine.

I haven't had a big problem getting Gaelen lately. I don't always get the event though. It does require the Sorcery tech now. Also, (unless you are using xienwolf's modcomp or just borrowed some of its python changes) Mage Guilds from the Catacomb Liberalus don't count. It requires "real" mage guild buildings, and seems to ignore the fact that you built a one before getting the wonder. I'd never been able to get Gaelen if I had the Catacomb before I started using the modcomp.

You're right, it's adding .dds files (perhaps also other file types, though I haven't tried) to the art directory that's causing all the trouble, even if the files aren't even used in the game. I couldn't pinpoint the exact trigger, but I think it's not about the files themselves, but about their names. If they are long (maybe it's not the file name length, but the path length) and there are lots of similar ones, breakage ensues.

@ Kael: Is this of any help? Did you change anything between 0.31 and 0.32 that affects the way art files are handled?

Has there been a change in HN mechanics, because twice in my last game Privateers pillaged some on my fishing boats even though I had Men of War fortified on top, and no combat took place.

Did you have the Council of Esus's Shrine, the Nox Noctis? That would make all your unit (excluding those in cities) invisible, thus allowing rivals to move through the same tile and pillage.

Yea well, I'm playing the Calabim, and they can't build the alchemy lab. Still, I sort of built the mage guilds somewhat late in the game and didn't get to sorcery until quite late as well. The living world option doesn't help much either.

The fact that it is omitting the free mage guilds from that Catacomb Libralus is probably a bug.

Finally got the first event of it. It takes a pretty dang long while.

I've got an annoying bug involving that hero goes on an adventure event. I had it trigger on Losha Valas and she got killed. BUT, she had the dang immortal promotion, so why didn't she respawn at the capitol?!?!

Maybe there needs to be a check if the unit has the immortal promotion.....

I have the Rosier the Fallen with orthus and level 20, so he should be damn powerful. I'm going to invade the Elohim soon in my game. edit: or as soon as that Elohim forcefield spell, sanctuary, drops out...

It isn't perfect, but here is a small fix so that the Circle of Gaelan will spread to cities which gained their Mage Guild via Catacomb Libralus:

In CvEventManager.py, under def onCityDoTurn:

Code:
		if CyGame().isCorporationFounded(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')):
			if CyGame().getHeadquarters(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')).getOwner() == pCity.getOwner():
				if pCity.getNumBuilding(gc.getInfoTypeForString('BUILDING_MAGE_GUILD')) > 0:
					if pCity.isHasCorporation(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')) == False:
						pCity.setHasCorporation(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN'), True, True, True)

So if I replace

Code:
			if CyGame().isCorporationFounded(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')):
				if CyGame().getHeadquarters(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')).getOwner() == pCity.getOwner():
					pCity.setHasCorporation(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN'), True, True, True)

with

Code:
		if CyGame().isCorporationFounded(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')):
			if CyGame().getHeadquarters(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')).getOwner() == pCity.getOwner():
				if pCity.getNumBuilding(gc.getInfoTypeForString('BUILDING_MAGE_GUILD')) > 0:
					if pCity.isHasCorporation(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN')) == False:
						pCity.setHasCorporation(gc.getInfoTypeForString('CORPORATION_CIRCLE_OF_GAELAN'), True, True, True)

that will take care of the problem? I guess I didn't quite understand your instructions.

Multiplayer glitch. I think.

Just attempted a couple with my brother, first time in, as hippus, he couldn't do anything in forests, build, select upgrades. Restarted, he picked khazad, same problem. Appears to be only the host avoids the bug.

Nothing I can think of. Zip up your additional dds fiels and I'll try them out here. If I can reproduce it I may be able to track it down.
