FfH2 0.33 Bug Thread

Posted this in the report tracker with a fix, but also posting a response in case Kael doesn't read the tracker ;) The issue here is that the spell needs to run CvPlayer::updatePlunder once to clear all blockades before it tries to affect the HN status, and then again after it changes the status to restore all blockades. Oddly the game cannot clear a blockade unless the unit capable of it is still in place.

I LOVE the tracker, it is deeply appreciated!

edit: Xienwolf I checked this out. Why couldn't I simply push an updatePlunder on the unit whenever HN is dropped?
 
Some strange ai behavior. ihve never seen the AI found more than 1-2 religions. In my last game, the Ljosalfar founded 3 and not because there were nothing else for them to research, they founded leaves at year 98 (this is on epic). Runes and overlords were both founded before turn 300 by the elves.

Its not that strange. Back when Auric didn't have Agnostic (but still wouldn't adopt a religion because of -100 weightings), I often saw him found 5 religions.

I have noticed that the AI seems to rush religions more now than it used to though. It used to be I could get all the religions in advanced start, but now there is about a 50-50 change that an AI will found each religion at the start of the game too. (Which is annoying, because the fact I already have the tech means I can't research it for the free disciple, but will have to wait for it to spread naturally if I want to adopt it, as I've mentioned before.)

Use the filefront link to download .33 since the other free site (fileshack) is screwy. I had the same problem, but the filefront download works fine.

Or you could just give it the ".exe" file extension, instead of re-downloading it from another site :)
 
I recently downloaded and played (after many erroneous installations) the mod (with patch C) on chieftain, to get a feel for it.

so far this is some of the feedback:
at easy difficulty, I've managed to defeat those I was at war with quickly enough for them never to get any decent characters. when I wanted to get into the circle with the demon in it that you can only enter at level 15, I was sad to find my best character was level 14, and couldn't find a way to gain experience anywhere.

which brings me to another problem I've encountered: in an effort to gain levels anyway, I wanted to remove the peace agreements I've made, and war with another faction in the hopes of finding opponents strong enough to provide me with experience. somehow I couldn't find a way to remove the peace, nor attack through a betrayal.

I usually thy to win through cultural victories. now, I've bought CIV 4 directly before installing this mod (and because of it) so I don't know whether you have to turn it on as victory condition, but with several cities at legendary culture, I still did not finish the game. perhaps a greater variety of victory conditions is possible?

and lastly, somehow, I could not get as much cities to join my side as I expected, which I usually do get, again, because of the culture. it might be an issue with following a different religion? however, the amounts of culture where pretty large, to the point that some of my borders partly or even nearly completely enveloped the borders of a village from a neighbouring faction. so perhaps a balance is on order.

other than that, I enjoyed it so thoroughly that I noticed the birds had already started whistling and the sun had come up again when I quit.

I hope this feedback is what you are looking for. this whole thread was TLDR.

Edit: you may not be able to enter that circle before level 15, you c an certainly cast spells like meteor on it. (guild wars images for spells might be problematic when PlayNC or Arenanet gets wind of it too)

Edit: I managed to cast my world spell twice in the game, don't know why. (change tiles to hills)
 
Im investigating the un-revealed plots issue. It seems that the visibility count is going far into the negatives. So far though Im not seeing a code problem that would cause it (where we would decrement it to far). Any information about what may have happened in those plots to get their visibility counts so far itno the negative would be good to hear.
 
yeaaaaaaaaaa.... could u do something so that the illegal game copies could work with ffh????

FfH is made for fun and distributed for free. We want the widest possible audience and we work pretty hard so that everyone has fun playing.

That said, if someone is running an illegal copy of BtS, I don't want them as a player of FfH. We dont make this mod to reward people who are stealing from Firaxis.
 
one question - since espionage is not part of the mod - is it intentional that power/score/etc. graphs of your opponents are hidden?

No, Id like them back but I havent gone in to see what it takes to turn them back on again. If anyone has already worked through it and knows what it takes, let me know and I'll get them in.

It is a very simple fix, go into XML the GameInfo folder then to Civ4EspionageMissionInfo.xml and change bseeDemographics from 1 to 0

Patch "d" is linked int he first post. It won't break save games and fixes the following issues:

1. Fixed an issue trying to pick up the Infernal Grimoire.
2. Fixed an issue upgrading units in assimilated cities (fixed by Xienwolf!).
3. Immortal units with spirit guide won't lose half their experience when being reborn.
4. War Games event (unit torturing prisoners) wont trigger for non-living units (catapults, etc) or non-combat units (workers).
5. Fixed an issue with the Letum Frigus aggressive trait add.
6. Converted units shouldnt change race (ie: enraged units shouldnt turn orcish).
7. Fixed an issue that could cause the AI to scrap ai_explore (recon line) units.
8. Updated German translation.
9. Updated Wolf Rider and Goblin Chariot art by seZereth.
10. Updated coast texture by seZereth.
11. Fixed an issue where some plots aren't revealed even if units enter them (hard fix, I manually keep visibility count from ever going negative, still dont know how they would become negative).
12. Fixed an issue where plundering can remain forever if the unit doing it loses hidden nationality (I think it will work).
13. New Svartalfar Champion unit model by Rishardas.
14. Demographics are now available for everyone (it used to be that you had to have a certain amount of espionage to do it).

I noticed this too, but it seems to be any time a unit with the Immortal promotion is destroyed it is reborn. I have observed this with sacrificing a T1 divine units to spread religion, upgrading a unit and even pressing the delete key to destroy a unit. I didn't check but I'm sure sacrificing mercs will do the same.
 
I just DL'ed and installed the 2033 media pack and patch d. Before I was using the 2032 media pack, and was running on patch b.

I am able to upgrade to units I shouldn't be able to. Playing as Tasunke (Hippus) I'm seeing the option to upgrade my scout to a Centaur Archer, Centaur Charger, Centaur, and Wolf Rider.

If no one else is having this "issue" I will be doing a clean install after this game. Not sure if is a new bug with patch d, or something got bugged when I updated those two files.

Perpentach is in this game. This one is not a bug, but I will definitely be tracking down the "Here I am" puppet sound file and overwriting that with something less annoying.
 
In the attached save game (patch d), I get an exception at the start of the next turn - the image shows the exception text.
 
With Patch D and no other mods, Tolerant trait is allowing me to build other civs heroes. I built the Bannor Hero, Donal Lugh in a captured banor city. And I have been assaulted by a Hippus army filled with Centaur Archers and Ogres. I don't know if that is a bug or intended. It's kind of neat though.....makes me want to play Hippus more.

And When I upgraded Corilidale<sp?>, the Elohim Hero, with heroic attack +1, his strength with from a 2 to 1/0.
