FfH2 Bug Thread

i don't think the delay was there when i posted this ^^. as far as i know, it's the most complete download we have though.
Thank you for posting and replying! Took about 24hrs (made me wait twice) but I got it.

Which FH2 folder copy should I use? Can I delete "Fall from Heaven 2 - Copy" and "Fall from Heaven 2 - Copy - Copy"?

I'm having a problem with .ini files or something. The game starts and it says the AoE mod is loaded, but it starts in the regular game, with the regular BtS cast of nations. Can anyone tell me what might be wrong?

Looking at the paths for the mod startup it seems curious that, in the Steam library there’s a path

steamapps\common\Sid Meier’s Civilization 4\Mods\Ashes of Erebus…

As well as:

steamapps\common\Sid Meier’s Civilization 4\Mods\Beyond the Sword\Ashes of Erebus…

Why this redundancy? Which is the “real” mod directory?

Any ideas?

The game starts. It says the mod is loaded, but what comes up in control is the regular game, unmodded. Also, a message comes up during initialization
"Load Error

GFC Error: failed to initialize the primary control theme."

this one is the correct one (the other is for pre-BtS mods):
steamapps\common\Sid Meier’s Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods\Ashes of Erebus
and directly in the Ashes of Erebus folder ( which must have that name), you should have the Assets folder.

Thanks. I'll fix that.

The same thing is still happening. Civ IV says it's loading Ashes of Erebus, but when the game starts, the setup panel is for the un-modded game. The game is in G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Mods\Ashes of Erebus. A screenprint of the folder is:

Is that what it's supposed to be?

I loaded an old mod in the same directory, "Fall Further". Same result--says its loading but transfers control to the vanilla game.

BTW, I’m running under Win 11. My software environment is new.

Well darn! I don't know what else to try. This mod is/was one of my favorite games. BtS is freshly installed from Steam. I assume no updates are required. The mod code is "Ashes of Erebus 14.11.7z", dated 1/29/22.

the dev version is more up to date, but that doesn't fix your issue ^^. Can you show me the inside of the Assets folder ( the one that's inside Ashes of Erebus)?
