FfH2 Cosmetic Issues Thread

I like the name Temple of Oghma, but then it would be better - thematically - if it's available with Knowledge of Aether instead of Writing, which wouldn't be a good idea, or at least it's not planned like this (needs playtesting etc.). Therefore Library of Leng (MtG) or something like that, might be more appropriate?

the fire elemental and the tar demon are showing no 3d unit model in the civilopedia

Yes they are, you just can't really see them. Both models are Great Prophets reduced down to about 1 pixel. The unit you see in the game is not the unit, but the effects associated, the "halo." Such effects do not show in the cvilopedia.

I think calling it the Library of Oghma would be better than Great Library or Temple of Oghma.

@Kael:

I know that you've got Documentation on your "Things to do" list (first post of the bug thread), so I'm not going to re-post the minor errors in the text that I posted earlier.

I did, however, have some suggestions relating to the 'pedia, for you to keep in mind when you get the chance to deal with them:

1) I think it would be helpful if the entries for the Empyrean and Council of Esus listed the units and buildings available to those religions, like the entries for other religions do. It would be helpful to new players, of course, but even those of us who've been playing for a while could use a handy quick-reference like that.

2) The entry for the Dwarven Vault could probably use a bit more detail. I'm playing a game as the Khazad right now, which I haven't done in a while. I know that having more gold is good for the Khazad, but I needed to mouse over the Dwarven Vault in my city screen to see exactly what benefits I was getting (happiness, hammers, GPP). Might be useful to have some of this in the 'pedia.

As I said, I know documentation is still "to do," and these are kind of minor points, but just thought I'd flag them for you for future reference.

That is a great (and simple) idea. The more lore in the game, and the less vanilla stuff, the better.

Would be possible to show a current patch in the main screen? I know it's probably only a pet peeves of mine but the Fall from heaven 2 really bugs me.

Two very minor things that have bugged me since I first noticed them:

I think the Gunpowder resource should be renamed to Sulfur. As it is, the name of the resource makes it seem like your miners are digging raw, naturally occurring gunpowder from the ground, which is kind of silly. Sulfur is a key ingredient of black gunpowder and really can be obtained from mines, so having it as a resource would make more sense. Recoloring the resource (sulfur is yellow) would be a nice touch too, although I suppose that would require more work.

I noticed that the Palisade building looks pretty much exactly like the Walls building, even though historically palisades were usually made out of wood. Would it be possible to change this? If nothing else, it would be nice for the two buildings to be more visually distinct from one another.

Something in the text file.

"Domesticate Animals" should be "Animal Husbandry"

A personal pet peeve of mine is when you win a game and it says "you have the leadership skills of x." I think that it should be from FFH lore, not fantasy/fiction or not modified at all. I just beat the radiant guard campaign and it said "You have the leadership skills of Rand Ol' Thor" 'Ew. Really? That's supposed to be a good thing?' It kind of takes you out of the role playing of the game. Of course its just personal preference, but I think vanilla civ style, or using game specific lore would be more appropriate.

Game specific lore would be nice

1. Kael ..or Perpentach (there are rumors that they are identical but *hush*)
2. Faeryl Viconia (she is surely the most ...appreciated... leader in this game)
3. Birgit the Shining (has anyone ever liberated her?)
4. Barnaxus (a creature that doesn't care about snow, but does try to beat the God of Winter)
5. Falamar (read point 2)
6. Auric Ulvin (the most stubborn leader in the multiverse, again, again, again)
7. Octopus Overlord (at last he shows up, see the thread)
8. Os-Gabella (the most misunderstood girl in the universe)
9. Magister Cultuum (congrats you've been as good as a great Sage)
10. Cassiel ("I do NOT believe in fairies")
11. Guybrush Threepwood (Hancock? who's that?)
12. Orthus Axe
13. Eurabatres (Somehow it seems as if he would be great. If he ever could get out of his childish state. Some people, sorry dragons, just don't get mature).
14. Baron Duin Halfmoon

:D

but seriously I think it's quite difficult to sort them from best to worst.

it's pretty weird to build fawns/satyrs that have the elven race promo, they should get one of their own imho. or maybe elemental?

Well, technically satyrs can be elves. In German folkloires you can even tie dwarves and gremlins to a kind of elf. So technically there's no reason to give another promo because they have same benefits from forests, while flavour-wise they can be high elves' animalistic subrace which is fine with the "general" promotion.

A question about new slinger.... Oh mighty seZereth... WHY DOESN'T HE HAVE A BEARD!!!!

Druid's civilopedia entry says that it's the only unit outside of the disciple line that gets the Medic promotion. Which is weird since they are disciple units.

Patch 'p'.

Partway through my latest game, the graphic for my captured Giant Spider disappeared randomly. I thought shutting down my computer and reloading the game would fix it, but it didn't help at all.

Bug?

Single graphics Nightwatch is much bigger than most other units, scale seems to be off by a bit.

In my last game, I had trees spawn on some of my city tiles after finishing the Genesis, and since I had Fellowship of Leaves as my state religion, some of those forests grew to ancient forests.
City tile on a grass/ancient forest received +1 food (thus producing 3/1/1), and
city tile on a grass/hill/(ancient) forest received +1 hammer (thus producing 2/2/1).
I was not certain whether this is a bug, feature, or cosmetic issue, but since I found it quite odd to be a feature, and since the issue about sawmill on ancient forest was listed as cosmetic issue, I decided to write it here.

My apology, if this was just a feature.

Edit: Forgot to mention, I was playing Bannor, Capria.

I've noticed that the Hippus Assassin's weapon isn't attached to the models hand ... it just kind of floats a few inches away from his hand ... which is a shame because it's a great model otherwise ...

I know you haven't made textual corrections in the most recent patches, so this is just for future reference when you do get around to it.

"orphange" should be "orphanage"

Bug?

That's definitely a bug.

I had a game recently as the amurites, where every single wizard I made was a red blob. To this day, I still don't know what the amurite wizard model looks like.

When the Malakim adept upgrades it goes from an anorexic black woman to a pudgy white man.
