Fight and Be Right! Revolution Redux

In the Second World War, the 3-way clash between the Japanese, the Soviets and the Allies for the Pacific was one of the bloodiest conflicts known to man. Even after Japan's surrender to the USSR's invasion, the battles only got worse. In 1946, while the East Coast was rioting in chaos, a Soviet force appeared from the sea, punching into Seattle with a vengeance. The only American elements around to stop them were three of the four Iowa-class battleships - and the United States Army's Fifth Battalion.

Colonel Jeremiah Sawyer was the commander of the 5th Battalion, seconded by Major James Webb and Captains Mark Bannon and Nick Parker. A series of vicious battles raged through the Rocky Mountains, all the way to a little town called Cascade Falls, where the US government unveiled a nuclear weapon, which they used against the Soviet army before it could engage the American elements. A lot of men died in the push that shoved the USSR out of the United States, but it was accomplished - finally. On the down side, the USA had essentially ceased to exist in the rioting, and Sawyer was pressured by Webb and the governors of Oregon and Washington to take up emergency leadership.

By now, a chain of command has mostly solidified, although it is far from complete. Sawyer has been forced into the role of acting President of the United States - as the Fifth Battalion is still an arm of the actual US government, rather than a rebel state. The captain of the USS Missouri has become the head of the navy, and Sawyer's old officers are now his lieutenants in even more ways.

The United States' Reunification begins now.

Capital: Delhi, but government currently operates out of Singapore.
Government: De jure democracy; de facto military dictatorship
Motto: Unity, Faith, Sacrifice
Currency: Rupee

History: The Indian Independence Movement had been gathering steam when revolution rocked the world. As barricades where thrown up in cities around the world, the Indian National Congress faced a critical decision. Factions within the INC disagreed on whether or not the time was right for more active steps towards liberating India. As the war and revolutions raged, one faction, Azad Hind, was aided by the collapsing Japanese Empire.

The Japanese Empire intended to use Azad Hind as a blunt instrument against the crown jewel of the British Empire. As both the Japanese and British Empires fell further into the turmoil of revolutions, Azad Hind managed to maintain its strength, buoyed by their vision of independence. As the storm passed, Azad Hind became one of the few bastions of authority left in the region. A proclamation was delivered, and the Provisional Government of Free India became the Republic of Free India.

Officially a parliamentary democracy, the Republic of Free India is heavily militarized. The army's commander-in-chief has the power to both veto anything the parliament passes, but also to authorize any action without parliamentary approval, as well as to appoint and dismiss most of the government positions that do have actual power. The army maintains this is a temporary measure, enacted to ensure that the nation stands united in these difficult times.

Hey.

Hey guys.

Democratic Republic of (North) Vietnam

125px-Flag_of_Vietnam.svg.png

Government: Marxist-Leninist "republic" (De facto: dictatorship)
Leader: Ho Chi Minh
Capital: Hanoi
History: With the destruction of the French colonial (Republican holdouts? Imperial defectors?) forces in the battle of Dienbienphu just last year in 1954, along with the major revolution that was occurring, has lead to the complete abandonment of Vietnam. In Geneva, a two state solution to the power vacuum was decided. The Northern side, was lead by revolutionary Ho Chi Minh and controlled by the socialist forces of the August Revolution. Meanwhile, the recently restored Emperor, backed as a puppethead in the West, had the rule of the south. Elections to be held in 1956 was decided to occur to create a more stable solution.

However, the collapse of the United States and, truely, much of the world lead to an interesting situation. Without the international backing the capitalists had in the south, there was nothing really going for the southern half of the nation. The reigme was unpopular, pro-NVN guerrillas known as the Vietcong had control of the countryside, and the NVA had sheer numbers over their southern counterparts. This, along with the fact that Ho had reasonable doubts that the reactionaries had no intention on recognizing or even allowing elections, led to the decision of having the NVA cross the 17th Parallel in defiance of the meaningless treaty to force the unification of Vietnam.

After all, there is no more Fortunate Sons to stop them now.

If I may ask a question - when is this game poised to begin its first turn?

The Duchy of Athens will soon join the game.

Sonereal, this may seem to be a stupid question, but is it overseas expansion if the provinces border the same section of ocean/sea (in example, expanding from the area of Rome across the Tyrrhenian Sea to Sardinia and Corsica)?

Well, Europe's overcrowded as usual, but at least I skipped Eastern madness (in light of MP events, I preferred this start location over China for RP reasons)

Still overseas expansion.

Okay, I didn't know Hong Kong was red, but can I have not pink?

Will a shade of grey work? Green and red are working overtime.

In light of the suicidal colonists rule, can you give me the Congo's coastline instead of one of my SA provs?

Yes.

Starting land changed
