History:

The ideals of the revolution came to Australia during the late 1940s. The Australian people were fed up of investing so much into a war that they didn't start. They had enough. The revolution wasn't very organized, until they found a leader: man simply known as Comrade Nale.

Under Nale's organization, the revolution took a Communist turn and became much more effective. With most of the Australian Military away, Comrade Nale easily took over most of the landmass, creating the Communist Republic of Australia (CRA) in 1944. It covered all of mainland Australia minus the ACT and surrounding regions. The newly formed Republic of Australia took control of what CRA didn't own on the mainland plus Tasmania. The Republic of Australia defended itself, however Nale had seemed to abandon his dream of reuniting Australia, turning his attention to what he already controlled.

Comrade Nale turned out to be a incompetent and paranoid leader who let his paranoia ruin his nation. However, he seemed to be the only thing holding the CRA together, his popularity was the only thing that stopped the public from turning against the corrupt regime. However, his competence caused infrastructure to fail and people to starve.

When the Australian Soldiers returned to the CRA from Germany and Japan, they were shocked at what they found. They decided to turn against the new government, setting up guerilla resistance movements inside the CRA. They demolished the new country over the course of eight years, ruining the CRA from the inside. The regime eventually killed all the freedom fighters, but not before they had given the country it's fatal blow: assassinating Comrade Nale in 1953.

The next few years saw the CRA degrade into a loose and unstable confederation of cities, barely able to hold up a defence force. The Republic of Australia however, had barely been effected by this instability. They had slowly been building up their military. Under the new leadership of PM N.J.Cow, they had decided that today, January the 1st 1955 was the day to strike back.

(The unclaimed areas on the map are meant to represent the CRA. That's how badly they've degraded, they don't even classify as a nation in the game.)

Religion: 85% Christian (about half catholic/ half Protestant), 4% Jewish, 6% no religion, 5% other.
Leaders: Jesse Adams (Prime Minister), Harry Lewis (Deputy Prime Minister), Josef Williams (Commander of the Armed Forces).
Politics: Main parties: Conservative, Liberal, Militarist. (Conservative party controls the executive branch, while the liberal party controls Parliament.) Minor parties: Collectivist, Libertarian, Nationalist, Green.
History: In 1946 as the USA was collapsing, a man named Nathaniel White stormed the governor's mansion and declared Kentucky an independent republic. He won the 1946 and 1950 elections as an Independent, but died while campaigning in the 1954 elections. His Deputy Prime Minister, Gordon Johnson took over the campaign, but lost in a landslide to Conservative party candidate Jesse Adams.
During Whites's reign from 1946-1954 he greatly developed the natural resources of Kentucky. During the 5 month prime ministerial position of Johnson, he invited a million immigrants from Mexico, Israel, and the UK to help develop the economy. on August 1, 1954 Adams was sworn in, and set forth on a plan of expansion into neighboring states.

These new governments vary greatly in terms of infrastructure and size and all are much weaker than pre-1939 nations militarily and economically....

RP: The King and Queen of Luxembourg slowly strolled over to their car, where the drive stood waiting for them. Behind them, the High Prince and Princess, Olaf and his wife Elsa, followed, talking and laughing with one another. The driver of the vehicle stood and took off his hat as the Royal Family approached, before bowing, and then opening the door for them. They smiled, and got in, chatting with each other as the driver started the car. It was a bright and sunny day, and the King had chosen this day to give a speech at the square in the center of the town.

Sure enough along the sides of the roads leading to the square stood crowds, waiting to see the Royal Family, and the royals waved back at the crowds. The car started to go over a bridge, and the water below reflected waving Luxembourgian flags, flown by those who decided to celebrate this great day. The King smiled at his wife, and hugged her, still waving at the crowds. This moment of happiness was interrupted when two men, each wearing long brown coats, hats they almost covered their eyes, and long pants passed the car, each with their hands in their coat pockets. They went and stood on the corner of the road, and seemed to wait there. The Crown Prince looked at them with distrust.

As the car started to pass the corner, the two men pushed people out of the way to get along near the road, on the sidewalk. Then, each pulled out a revolver. The driver, recognizing the threat tried to speed up but was stopped when a bullet slammed into his shoulder, and then his throat. The King moved to shield his wife, but it was in vain. A trigger was pulled, and a scream came from behind him. The queen was dead. The King stared down the barrel of the gun now pointed directly at his face, and said his final prayers. The shot then rang out.

The assassins turned and faced the Prince and Princess, and were about to shoot when a civilian tackled one of the one, and bumping into the other. One shot into the air, one shot at the ground, hitting a foot of an innocent bystander. The first assassin was still standing, and looked at his friend, now on the ground being punched by a civilian. He moved to fire at the prince but before he could line up a shot he was punched by another civilian. He then turned to the crowd, pointing the revolver at his own head, before yelling, “For the people! For the Red Star!”. He then pressed the trigger.

The assassin on the ground was wrestling with the civilian, looking like he was losing, but he managed to throw a punch that knocked by the attacker, and fired a shot into the guy’s stomach. He tried to get back up but he was knocked to the ground again, and the gun fell out of his hand. Police officers have finally made it to the scene, and quickly took the assassin into custody. Two ambulances pulled up, and the King and Queen were loaded into them, along with the injured civilians. It was there where the King and Queen were pronounced dead, but the two injured civilians made a full recovery. Prince Olaf and his wife Princess Elsa became King and Queen today, and announced they were going to eliminate the Red Star Society.

As Olaf and Esla came to settling down in their new position, they discovered something horrible. The Duchy of Saar and the Duchy of Wallonia were harbouring the Red Star Society! The Grand City then declared war on the two Duchies, trying to eliminate all of the RSS supporters.

Updated expansion ruleset. Basically, you can't claim multiple territories with the same army. However, if you claim an adjacent territory with one army and then use another army to claim a territory beyond that one, you are fine. If the initial claim that is being used as a springboard is a naval claim, however, all the armies used from there are also used up.

The War of Reclamation - Year One

The War of Reclamation was the war that the Republic of Australia fought against the remnants of the Communist Republic of Australia. The CRP was heavily disorganized, much of the military documents were lost. However, the Republic of Australia's documents were much more organized. The most insightful of these would have to be the WarLog of Prime Minister N.J.Cow...

The red areas on this map are the areas we expect to have complete control over by this time next year. I asked my Generals if it was possible to go faster and they said it was not possible. Let's face it, the damage that Nale did to the country was horrendous. The roads are completely demolished and Australian cross country territory isn't exactly forgiving. Also, Pro-CRA guerrillas are slowing down our re-occupation, we need to get rid of them before we can safely send civilians in. Coupled with the sheer size of the island and the amount of desert, it looks to me that this is going to take a long time.

The most liberal estimates about our re-occupation say that we will have the whole island in our control sometime in 1960. Still, what's the point of having a country when there is no infrastructure? That's why I'm investing $60,000 into building new factories this year. The generals were against it, saying that the money should be used for recruiting more soldiers, but I'm sure that the production of the factories will be beneficial in the long run.

I hope to God that the estimates are wrong. I want this war over as soon as possible. The young of Australia have had enough war, however, if we want the menace that is the CRP to finally be gone we will have to brave this war. But how many families must I destroy to free this country from Tyranny? Do the ends really justify the means? Even so, will it relieve my guilty conscience? Will it help me sleep at night?
