ATTENTION MODDERS: FileFront announced that they are shutting down indefinitely on March 30, 2009. If you have uploaded your mods there, be sure to download them before March 30th to save your files, and find another file hosting site to host your mod.

If you need a place to host your mods, we recommend uploading them to our host AtomicGamer. While AtomicGamer has a wait queue, it's a reliable place to host gaming related files.

See this thread for more info and a discussion of alternative sites.

They are trying to backup everything it seems. I just don't know what they will do when everything is in backup.

It seems they already did a backup of everything from Civilization IV.

Same for Filecloud:

Filecloud will be permanently shutting down on March 31st, 2009.
Download your files before then if you don't have local copies.

Although I couldn't find any Civmods overthere.

these are the alternatives i found so far:
fpsbanana.com/games (can't find a limit so far...)
Milledrive (restr. to 1 gb)
I can offer my webspace (via one.com: 2gb) for anyone that has a mod (:?)

Or maybe ask 2kgames for some room? We scratch their back by giving huge feedback & mods, so maybe they could scratch ours?

That is incredibly awesome. Now all we need is a central location so that gamers can readily access the files.

Shame Filefront didn't announce this sooner.

You know, I noticed yesterday ( march 31st) that it was still up, and thought maybe it was an april fools joke. Guess not. Excellent.

That's good to hear. :)

But it's annoying that some companies acquired something, then after a few years decided to close it. We saw that with Microsoft buying Ensemble Studios, then decided to close it not too long ago. Big Huge Games got acquired by THQ and recently they announced they plan to shut down Big Huge Games.... :hammer:
