Final Fantasy Mod Progress Updates, Part II

Well, Quick Update: Leaderheads are caught up for now, and I'm two (possibly 3 animations if I do a victory) from finishing the Galbadian Iron Clad Tank. Also, I thought of something that I wanted to float before my potential testers/players before I try implementing it.

What I'm referring to is a possible use of flavors that I hadn't realized was available before. The flavors I'd add/assign to civs would be (mostly) for diplomatic purposes, and would bear the Labels "Good" "Neutral" and "Evil", so that "Good" and "Evil" have a maximum negative starting diplomatic stance toward each other, base (0) relationship with Neutral civs and best relationship with other civs of the same flavor.

Basically, Neutral Civs would be those that changed sides at least once during a game. For Instance, Estar would be neutral, since it used to be an aggressor under Adel, but turned itself around under Laguna's leadership.

Galbadia; needs final version of Galbadian soldier (Muffins promised to do the unit, but it's been quite a while....) and Iron Clad Tank (In Progress: 75% complete)
Estar; needs Estar Soldier UU (model is currently about 60% finished)
Garden; needs Forest Owl UU and a third UU; either Garden, SeeD assault ship or White SeeD Ship

Again, I need to get around to working on the industrial age tech tree as well as digging into research for 1, 2 & (sorry to say) MQ and possibly TSW, since those last two items will most likely be needed to jump the civ number up to 30. If that still isn't enough, I'll change Japan to a "Square-Enix" easter-egg civ (sort of like the Firaxian civ with Sid Meiers as the leader in the Alpha Cantauri/ALien Crossfire complete package), with cities named after the district where Square-enix's HQ is and all Square-Enix games, etc. (when I started this mod, I just replaced similar default civs with FF ones, thinking that I could delete un-needed civs, before I found out that deleting a civ screws up all the civs in the list after it, so as it is, the only default civ that I can safely get rid of at this point is #31 (Maya), therefore I have to find at least 4-5 more civs to fill the roster out before I can release this mod).

Cant you just disable the unneeded Civs in the editor?....they wont be FF, but they wont be playable in the game...
 
I already have the chocobo resource, but I might use the Ranch as either an improvement, small wonder or tech.

As for the disabling the civs, it might work, but I believe that the AI will still be able to use them. Of course, once I get FF 1, 2 and MQ added, I should have all civs accounted for, anyways.
 
Hi everybody, I only played FF7-10, I dunno if units and leaders, well the whole races from other games are done good, but from what I`ve seen and recognized I would say that our buddy Hikaro here is one hell of a dude. Congrats, I`ll write to Santa so this year I get modding skills and help you :)
Any idea when is it gonna be finished? a rough percentege maybe, please?
 
Hikaro, any other FF buildings/wonders I can try to crank out for ya?...I generally played/liked the Chrono Trigger series better, but played FF1 FF3 and FF7 in depth, so I know (more or less) what to look for...I also slammed out the FFadventures(I think...whatever the 5 for Gameboy were called, maybe Legends) where you eventually fight GOD, with a thermo nuke...

Lesse, some wonders I need: Sorceress memorial, Dr. Odine's theories/Laboratory, Rin's Travel Agency, Zidane's voyage, Alexandria Caslte (just the Peida and BLDG icons, I already have the splash), Lunatic Pandora Laboratory, Zanarkand Dome (only Icons, again), and Bugenhagen's Observatory (again, only Icons, I already made a splash).

Buildings: Wind Farm (wind turbines for power generation)
 
I am certain that this will be one of the top mods created for civ3 and I do wait its release but there is something that worries me... what about the impact of civ4? I fear that Final Fantasy won't get the attention it deserves. Don't you?

Actually, the Zanarkand Dome is the Big Blitzball Court that Tidus plays in during the intro FMV of FFX

As for the WInd turbines, look closely at the full view of Cosmo Canyon in FFVII, and you'll see a wind farm scattered around the town (making Cosmo Canyon the most ecologicaly freindly city on the planet since it didn't use any Makou power whatsoever). Normal Wind Farm graphics will work, though, but I haven't found any in the forums.... I may have to dig deeper or go to GiDustin's site for that...

Sorceress Memorial, Dr. Odine's Lab & Lunatic Pandora Lab are all from FF 8
Zidane's Voyage is from FF IX, when Zidane, Garnet (a.k.a. Dagger), Regent Cid and the rest of the party take the Blue Narcissus (an Alexandrian Flagship) in a globe-spaning race with the steam-powered Hilda Garde III airship (amazingly, the sail-powered Blue Narcissus proves capable of keeping up with the airship).

Bugenhagen's observatory is where Prof. Bugenhagen has his planetarium at the top of Cosmo Canyon in FF VII.

I could care less about Civ IV right now.... Especially if it's a repeat of the MoO III fiasco.
 
I just realized that you wanted these all to be wonders, and I didnt post Splash pcx...I will post pics if you can do the conversion, or I'll just make em and post em

Thanks for all these buildings. As for the splash, I only need the splash for the Lunatic Pandora Lab, all the others I already have splashes made for. This saves me a ton of work.

BTW, the next FF unit I'm working on is the Al Bhed Machina Hunter, and that way, FFX will be completely done once I'm finished with that. Next FF unit after that will be the Chocobo Knight (I just used Kinboat's Chocobo Figure and sat his PDM Knight on top of it, easy as pie).

Im gonna try to finish the list...having trouble finding the "Blue Narssicus" as there is a flower named the same thing...so its hard to search for something Im not familiar with(same for Dr Orbine, and Sorceress Memorial...again there are many real Dr Orbines)

Spacer, you've been doing some outstanding work, which I must admit allows me to now focus about 75% of my attention to unit making.

Of the three possible pics for the Blue Narcissus, the third is it (I think). The first is the Hilda Garde III, which was an airship made using the hull of the Blue Narcissus, and the first was the Tantalus theater troupe/thief guild's airhip, the Prima Vista. I'm glad of the pic of the Hilda Gard III, since that's the most complete image I've been able to find as of late, and I'm planning on making that airship as a UU for Lindblum (provided that Orthanc doesn't beat me to it).

As for the Lunatic Pandora splash, it's fantastic. I'll also use it to build the other icons in Bryce. Not that I don't like your icons, it's just that I thought it was lying down the way you did them, but if I use the image in the splash as a texture and build the floating obelisk in Bryce (5 min job), I can get the proper Civ III building angle.

If you've got an image of the inside of Dr. Odine's lab, that would work for the splash. I'll have to see if I can find the outside for the building icons.... I think the lab is in Estar, so I might be able to take a screenshot once I figure out how to get FF VIII PC working again.


Oh, and there is no Chocobo unit.... YET. Kinboat DID make a chocobo Model (which I requested in his last unit lottery, and even though I didn't win, the giant bird intrigued him enough to do it anyways) that is scaled to fit with his Paper Doll figures, and you can download it from his Poser models/props thread. As a matter of fact, I've got previews of the next two FF units I'm working on right here (note: these are the next to FF units, not necessarily the next two units per se. My next unit to be finished is the Z-95 Headhunter for the SW mod, after which is the Al Bhed Machina Hunter, then a Geisha assassin for Shiro's Sengoku mod, then I do the Chocobo Knight). I plan on doing a full four era unit line for the Chocobo riders. First is the Chocobo Rider (requires Chocobo Riding tech in ancient era), then in the middle ages with Chivalry is the Chocobo Knight, and at the very end of the middle ages is the Chocobo Cavalry (requires the Military Tactics tech), and in the modern age it upgrades to the Chocobo Dragoon (requires genetics tech because the Chocobo dragoons ride black chocobos, and can move 4 spaces per turn). If any other unit creators want to make any of the chocobo units, then go right on ahead, the less work I have to do, the sooner this mod can be released.
