Final Fantasy Mod Progress Updates, Part II

 wow...

You did a good job finding good placeholders for all those units HT...(the ones that only remotely resemble the units from Final Fantasy games they represent)

Love the Civ selection...but like I said earlier, I will help make Esthar feasible any way I can my friend..

PLACEHOLDERS???!!!! Why I aughttaa......!!! FYI, most of those units are supposed to be the final deal, with the exception of having horse riders filling in for Chocobos and Neomega's Techensai filling in for the Galbadian Soldier. Of course, that's not saying that if something better comes along I won't take it, but If I was too choosy about how close the units looked to their actual FF counterparts, I'd be taking twice as long as ED with the WH fantasy mod.

Anyways, I've just found a better Modern era UU for Bastok: The Mithril Musketeers :D

I was looking for a pic of Trion I for making a new Elf leaderhead (Sween and ED's elves don't quite cut it for what I need), when I found a whole spiel about how the Mithril Musketeers defeated a numerically superior force at the Battle of Konschtat, gaining independance for Bastok from San d'Oria. I'm using a fixed version of the Sweedish musketeer from the American Conquest conversion pack that Steph did (I was even nice enough to make the fixed version available).

Also, since progress on my Mithra Ninja has ground to a halt (I'm at a total loss as how to do smoke in poser), I'll be starting on the playtest tonight.

The lineup is:

AVALANCHE (me)
Shinra
Galbadia
Garden
Ivalice
Ordalia
Lindblum
Alexandria

So, as you can see, there is quite a good possibility of seeing some of FF's ulitmate grudge matches emerge; will Ordalli and Ivalice fight another 50-year (or longer) war? Will AVALANCHE and Shinra ever settle their differences? Will Squall and Edea be at odds once more? Will Alexandria make another attempt at invading Lindblum? Who knows, but finding out will be half the fun! So don't touch that dial, Final Fantasy Battle Theater will be right back after a few words from our sponsors.....

Theres also the possibility that Shinra would join up in an unholy allaince with Vector and the other evil civs, or some alliances that make obsolutely no sense could form, like Vector and the Returners... :crazyeye:

You could have two Biqs, Chaos mode(where anything is possible) and one with locked allainces..

I'll wait until I've got the main mod done before I do any variations. What I was referring to was the Public Alpha version Playtest game that I would be chronicling in the CivIII Stories and Tales Forum. As a Matter of fact, I should have the first installment done within the next two or three hours. It's on a standard random map with raging barbarians, and the 8 civs listed are the participants in this little endeavor.

This is the most amazing mod I've seen being made for Civ yet. I'm going to have to start playing again. What game version will I need for it?

I believe you'll need Conquests w/the latest patch...

No, just Civ III Conquests; My internet connection is too fuggin' slow to download the latest patch. :gripe:

BTW, I've already re-named the ICBM to Meteor, and now that I've got the graphics done, I've added them to the game.

You've Got to be getting fairly amolst close to somewhat near done, Hikaro.... hmm.. maybe we should have a joint project... hmm...

Civ III Conquests

Ok, I'll have to go get that then (I really haven't played in a long time, ha)

I am an avid fan of the Final Fantasy games, and this is a mod I have been searching for!! (I cannot put myself to make my own. :P)
I hope you will finish this one and make it downloadable as soon as possible.

Hmm.. Perhaps I should get myself to buy that CONQUESTS expansion..

Well, I'm still shooting for a late March or early April beta release. Of course, I won't have graphics for the entire Chocobo line (chocobo rider, knight, cavalry and cuirassier), but they'll be added so that I can insert the graphics as soon as I can convince Kinboat to make a Chocobo model for Poser......

I've been in the meantime gathering up units as well as trying to make them. I haven't been able to do too much since the stupid paperwork for getting out of the Navy is taking up most of my time.

If you do decide to add Xenogears to the mod, let me know. I am a fugging XG fanatic. Cities, people, units, whatever.

*dreams of the Super Dimensional Gear being the Avehan UU*

giv me a message when you compleate it, please. I have all the ff games exept xi, so I am sure I will like it

Well, I kind of figured that I should update my progress since I've actually gotten some stuff done with the mod over the past couple of days. First of all, I've gotten around to adding some units I'd downloaded over a month ago as well as some that I've just picked up yesterday.

First of all, the Kingdom of Baron (representative of FF IV) is now complete. I used Kinboat's martial artist dude to represent the monks of Fabul, since the dude looks a lot like Yang. To round out the other two UU's, you have my Red Wing airship and Kain's Dragoons, which use the Phoenix Guard graphics that aaglo made.

In addition, the Federation of windhurst got their first UU: the Taru-taru ranger, which takes the place of the standard ranger for windhurst. I've got the model for the second UU, the Cardian, done, and am in process of making the modern age UU; the Mithra Ninja (all I need to do are both attack animations, the victory and the death animation. I've got the default, fidget, run and fortify animaitons done already).

Kiltia, the land from FF Tactics: Advanced, now has 2/3 of its UU's. The first is the Bangaa Templar (kinboat's sword saurus) and the Blue Mage (MRTN's color conversion and attack animation of Abu Bakr). Since I managed to find me some nice bunny ear props and a big ol' longbow, I'll be adding a viera unit to round out the lineup. I'll also see about doing a LH soon, since I recently downloaded some crazy bishounen anime dude hair props for Poser 5.

Also, as most of you know, I've creaded a Ramuza Beoulve Leaderhead, and I've got 2/3 of its UU's ready to go. I've got the model for their final UU, the Chemist, done, but haven't gotten around to animating it yet.

My iteneriary for the FF mod is as follows:

1) try to finish up the UU lines of the civs that have been added already.

2) make LHs for the civs that have been added thus far. Current priorities are:

a) President Karst of Bastok, since he's easy to do and that's the only think keeping the republic of Bastok from being finished.
b) Queen Reina of Tycoon, since she should be fairly easy to do with the props I've gotten lately from renderosity and DAZ3D's freepozitory forum.
c) Marche Radiuju of Kiltia, since that would be one less thing I have to worry about.
d) Prince Trion of San d'Oria (since none of the elf LHs around hear have long enough ears.....)
e) Grand Duke Kam'lanaut of Jueno. Of course, I'd have to find a picture of him first. Grandream promised to send me a screenshot when he finally got the Level 4 (Jueno) mission for his FFXI charachter. He's already helped out by sending a pic of the other three factions leaders for me to work from. As my way of thanking him, he gets to be one of San d'Oria's Military Great Leaders (since that's his charachter's nation in FF XI)

3) Once I get 1 & 2 done, work out the industrial and modern age tech trees, prune the number of civilizations down to the what I currently have and release a beta version of the mod for public testing.

In the meantime I've also got the following side projects for the mod:

1) take Vwarnos' medieval greek cities, Firaxis's mediterranean cities, the Roman RON cities that Arbitrary guy converted, and spend a day cutting and pasiting to get some FF style mediterranean cities along the lines of FF IX and the upcoming FF XII.

2) make wonder grapincs for the wonders I've changed/added.

Well, that basically sums it up. Hopefully I'll be able to complete that demo game that I've been posting in the Stories & tales forum, but spring garden chores have been severely competing for time.

What kind of wonder graphics do you need, I'd be willing to do some 'surfing ' to help find any approporiate graphics

Well, I've got wondersplashes for most of the graphics, but what I mostly need is to make the civilopedia and bldg icon graphics (which I can do easily enough in bryce since those small pics don't need to be nearly as detailed as graphics for the splash). The only ones that I don't have any kind of good splash for is 1) the Weapons Development Program small wonder, 2) the Dr. Gast's Laboratory wonder, 3) the Dollet Comm tower, and 4) Mognet Central.

This mod is a pipedream! There are no way it can ever resemble of the final fantasy series.Chocobo's ,summon creatures ,and etc. etc. How are u gonna find any unit makers to build a lengthy list of unit to fill this joke of a mod.lol

The unimportant of time is the gate to wisdom-Russell

OK, I know next to nothing about Final Fantasy, what is Mognet Central?

EDIT: OK, here's a couple of pics, maybe they'll be of some use to you.

Thanks for the SS, Hunter. I'll most likely have the Proud Clod in a montage with some Al Bhed thingy and the Makou cannon for the 'Weapons Development Center' small wonder splash, and even though some resizing work will be needed, I'll get on the Dollet comm tower right away.

As for other progress updates:

I've replaced the generic advanced airship with my new version, so that the advanced airship is now actually bigger than the steam airship that is its predecessor.

I've also replaces some of the unit graphics with some of the excellent units from
Aaglo Inc. ;) To whit, Kain's dragoons (with his Phoenix guard graphics), the goblin Alchemist (with his Ork Stik Bomma graphics), and a few others I can't think of right now.

I've added another UU for Galbadia in the form of the Space Marine Biker from Muffins WH40K pack. Using the civ colors I chose for Galbadia (indigo), the Unit looks just like the Galbadian Biker troopers that attack Balamb Garden at the end of disk 2 in FF VIII.

I've even, since I've finally made it to disk 3 of FF VIII, got enough data to add Estar to the game as a full civ. Some of the UU's I'll be needing are the Estar troopers, and, without doubt, the Ragnarok spaceship. Once I get to meet him on disk 3, I'll be deciding wether to use the younger version or older version of Laguna for the LH.

I've also finally made the President Karst LH, finishing up that civilization, and leaving only 2 of the FF XI civs with incomplete LHs.

My LH itinerary now looks like this:

a) Queen Reina of Tycoon, since she should be fairly easy to do with the props I've gotten lately from renderosity and DAZ3D's freepozitory forum.
b) Marche Radiuju of Kiltia, since that would be one less thing I have to worry about.
c) Prince Trion of San d'Oria (since none of the elf LHs around hear have long enough ears.....)
d) President Laguna Loire of Estar. I'll wait untill later in disk 3 to decide on which version I'll do.
e) Grand Duke Kam'lanaut of Jueno.

I've also been gathering up units for use as summoned creatures. Thus far I've only got Titan (Aaglo's stone giant), Odin (Kinboat's black Pegasus rider), and Bahamut (One of KInboat's dragons, possibly with a modified attack). I'm still not quite ready to implement the whole thing, though.

I'll also try to have some screenshots next time I post in this thread to show some of the stuff I've gotten done.
