Firefox 3 has just been released, and they're trying for a world record for the most software downloads in 24 hours. It goes from 10am to 10am Pacific Time. If you want to be part of this record attempt, just download the program. Installing it isn't technically a requirement, but I recommend it.

Note to mods: This thread is about the record attempt, so please leave in OT. There's a thread in Computer Talk about the browser itself.

The servers are getting hammered at the moment, if you can't connect right now, just wait a little while.

meh their servers are dead maybe they should have made it download week

Its all taper's fault

If you can't get it, go to softpedia and go to their 3rd window titled "Softpedia Secure Download (U.S.)-3.0"

That worked for me. :goodjob:

It's because Romanian sites like Softpedia are inherently better than everything else.

Spoiler :
I hate the forum of that site.

So uhh... What's the point of Firefox 3? I have encountered no problems with the one I have right now.

The only problem is I'm not sure if these 3rd party sites will count towards the record. www.getfirefox.com seems to be back up now, but I would say that any way is better than no way.

Personally downloaded three times: main computer, new laptop, old laptop.

There's a printable certificate for posterity if you want. I dl'd 3 times too; laptop, desktop windows partition, desktop linux partition. I'm not sure if that'll get counted as 2 or 3, as 2 were from the same computer. They said they have a way of not counting multiple downloads to inflate the stats, but this was 2 legit separate installs.
