FireFox4

Lack of keyboard shortcuts to navigate and manipulate tab groups. Lack of tools in general to manipulate tab groups. Where are my options to open a bookmark folder to a tab group? Save all the tabs in one group as bookmarks? Save tab groups for restoration later (without making bookmarks)? Move tab groups between browsers? Etc, etc.

Now that's just getting picky, keyboard shortcuts I could care less about, the bookmark stuff done manually isn't that much a time waster, most of these complaints are just sheer laziness than anything really. Especially when moving stuff around is as simple as clicking and dragging, and bookmarking is a keyboard shortcut (there you go!).

The only one that I actually agree with you with is the save a group for later, which would be nice. But, if I want to save a group for later as of now, it really isn't all that hard to just keep the window open :)

Not to mention that FF already gets clunky with more than a dozen or 2 dozen tabs open, so the utility of tab groups is pretty limited until they fix that.

I've had close to 30 or more tabs open at once, and I haven't seen a performance decrease.

Note: This is also while I had steam and the new Total War game running in the background.

I have no problems with clunkiness and hangups even with Firefox surpassing the 1GB memory mark. Ive got about 3 dozen tabs open right now too, and I still see no issue.

EDIT -- In fact, Chrome starts to choke at about 20 tabs for me. There I notice tiny little delays, especially in tabs that have a lot of interactive content.

Spoken like someone who doesn't actually have to use their web browser for work.

I don't particularly care what you want to call it. At the moment tab groups is a "cool" feature, but not a particularly useful feature. For real multitasking it's faster and easier to just work with multiple browser windows.

I use it for work and Ive found a combination of browser windows and tab groups to be quite effective. Certainly no slower that having to search through 20 tabs in a window to find the one you needed.

if find the discussion about who stole what feature from which browser highly amusing :)

as of now, I don't think any of the browsers can claim to not having copied useful features from other browsers. In fact I'd think less of the browser manufacturer if they didn't try to copy/extend a feature that's been proven to be popular/useful on a other browser. :)

In any case, I installed FF4 yesterday, so far I quite like it. Can't compare it really since I don't use the other browsers on a regular basis...I had Chrome for a while but something just didn't fit me, can't say what exactly it was.

Well, I just feel the need mention Opera whenever possible, since it's so lacking in love.

Although, I would love it if IE/Chrome unified to the Opera/FF look with a menu square in the upper left, blue for IE, green/yellow for Chrome.
