Unless you have the US version of complete, the one with Colonization, Civ 4 and Warlords will still need the CD. As BTS is the most complete version, all you will miss if you don't play Warlords/plain Civ 4 are the scenarios.

I'm trying to multi by email with one of my friends on Final Frontier (a BTS mod), but it says he has version 3.03 and I have version 3.02, so it isn't working. It's the complete set, which installs all of the games at once, but into three distinct files and games still, I believe, as well as the Colonizations. Anywho, I went to the 2K website and tried to download what looked like the most recent patch, but it went to a blank page and said noSQL or something like that. Any suggestions?

I recently updated my machine to Window 7 and tried to install Civ4 that I used to enjoy playing very much with Window Vista. As soon as the installshield tried to create the file "Art0.FPK", there's got a "Feature transfer error" of:

Feature: DefaultFeature
Component: Civ4Component
File: D:\data2.cab
Error: Data error (cyclic redundancy check)

I got all updates of DirectX and run as administrator, but no use. Wish can get help from you guys.

Either your DVD or your DVD drive is broken.
Try to install the game on another computer or with another drive to see what's exactly the problem.

The disc has been running good in my notebook computer.
The disc drive of this laptop computer also been used to install several software already.

Well, last time when i installed civ4 in my notebook with Vista (2 yrs ago), i did encounter lots of problem but i learned 2 patches from this forum then i made it.

i guess patches might help?

As The_J said, either your drive or disc is broken, but it's usually a damaged or dirty disc. Things to try:

Cleaning the disc
Copy the contents of the disc onto your hard drive and install from there
if you have more than one optical drive, try copying from the other or copy the contents of the disc on another computer, transfer across to your hard drive and install from there.

Unfortunately it often means replacing the disc. If it's a new disc you can return it for a replacement. Take2 have been know to replace discs (for a charge if they are older) but the charge is now often greater than you can re-buy the game for.

Hi, I just bought civ 4 complete with colonization, but after i installed both the game and colonization it wouldn't let me play just civ 4. I was forced to play colonization any ideas whats going on?

You've probably just used the wrong shortcut , just look at the installed programms in the start menu, they shoudl be separated there.

hello everyone,
i always wanted to play original civ bts, but since i live in russia, only russian veriosn is available.
im not a great hacker, so no chance to instal 3.19 patch over my rus bts.
when i dloaded english verison from torrent, ive found two issues:
1. some buttons (even Mao) are just text resources (or chinese_leader).
2. game over before i even built first axeman, because of cultural victory. yes implaying by 'play now' button.
i cant wait civ5 so i started to play civ4 again, so any help would be appreciated

Currently, I will occasionally get the following error:

Fatal Error

Memory allocation failure - exiting program.
Reason:bad allocation, File:.\CvAppMainLoop.cpp, Line: 261.

This only has happened when saving a game. I'm playing on a large map with lots of opponents and thus the savefile is large.
Also happens to me. someone has a solution for this error?

@Thunderbull: there is no support for torrent site patches here - try to get the patch from the take2's site or whoever sells the game for them in Russia.

@Musta Yoshi: is this a modded game? how large is the map? could you post your dxdiag results file?

Ok, this is reallllly starting to annoy and it has never happened till about a month ago.

Background: I got Windows7, and all the requirements needed to run the game are completely fine.

Problem: About 1 in 5 times, when I hit "End Turn" the game will freeze and flicker from the game screen to blackness to my desktop screen, VERY fast, and it will keep doing this, and it will sometimes speed up or speed down, or vary in which objects it flickers (the desktop screen, black screen, or game screen). I feel like the end turn process is somehow getting caught in something, because whenever I hit (Windows) + M, to minimize, then wait for 10 secs and click restore, it loads up fine and runs normal for a few turns. So I feel like it is getting stuck somewhere, and when your game goes on for hundreds of turns over multiple games...its gets very very very tiring to have to keep reloading the stupid the game.

Any help appreciated.

search for dxdiag and run it. It lets you save a log file which you can post here.

For the patch launch civ, go to advanced, go to check for updates.

Hi I recently upgraded to windows 7 ultimate 64 bit edition and around the same time purchased an nvidia 9800gt card. Previously I was running civ4 on winxp sp3 with my onboard graphics chip and it ran very nicely, now however it freezes up at almsot random intervals to the point where I have to reboot the computer and when I start up the game it says i have selected an unusable sound capture device(?!?!?) which is really annoying since I dont have a mic installed at all(infact I never have).

far as I know the game is up to date( I click on the game update and it says there is no downloads/updates available) everything else on my computer is up dated and I more then meet the requirements to play the game(as mentioned earlier I used to play it with my onboard graphics chip in xp and it ran very smooth).

Any help would be great

Ok installed the BTS 3.19 patch played a bit with the default settings but it didnt crash/lockup it did however tell my again that I have selected an unusable voice capture device voice capture disabled message, I cant seem to get the stupid thing to stop telling me that basically I have no mic(of which I was already aware since I dont actually even OWN one lmao)
