Flags require

:) yep it's what i mean
but its not such a problem :)

ok, it's a little late for that, but i've done a little research on the use of sidewise flags:

i came up with a site, that explained pretty good this issue of sidewise flags. the all common sidewise used flags are banners. the banner is mounted on a horizontal staff which is mounted on the vertical staff so that it looks like a cross. the same way the ingame "flag" is.
since the banners are higher than wide, the colors are used different. if the flag has horizontal stripes (like germany, black-red-gold from top to bottom), then the colors were showed from left to right. so, a banner with german colors will be black-red-gold from left to the right. if the colors are already verticaly on the flag (like france, blue-white-red from left to right), the the banner will be also blue-white-red from left to right.
if the flag has an arms on it, it would show propperly in the center of the banner.
the only i don't find is, how to use other, unsymmetrically flags as banner (like the us- or australian flag).
and in germany (especially the länder are using them) banners are commonly used by offices, as they are bigger than flags and don't need much wind that you can see them.

with this info, some flags of the pack should be arranged new. like latvia, which should be red-white-red from left to right as also as indonesia and yugoslavia. mexico and nigeria are ok.
the only ones, that i don't know how to use properly as a banner are the australian, bulgarian, national chinese and congolese flags...

I also made some sniffing through web :

Hmm it's more complicated than i tought and not standarized :) - usaly they are rotated 90 degrees cw (poland germany) some are rotated 90 degrees cw and than flipped (like usa) and some aren't rotated at all

and in some countrices practice to hang flags vertically is banned (Brazil, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Sri Lanka)

Here's all about hanging flags vertically and some exceptions :)
maybe it could be some help for you:

Dang good to know info, thx:cool:

thanks!
it's really more complicated.
i thought there are more common "laws" how to show them vertically, such as the heraldic laws or so....but it looks that every country has it's own laws how the flag should look if it's hang up vertically.
