Also, yikes, did I pick a day to debut! I want to be clear that I consulted with sandris before I posted this mod. I have permission...unlike some MEM modders :).

I like the preview! This may well be one of the few mods of this genre I actually download (as in I am downloading). If I could suggest one thing it would be giving industrial/modern units a little more attention. :)

I'm sure Sandris will come out with a few more unit lines here shortly...it'll give me a good reason to go in and update. Gary's been on a roll too, lately. Some more modern flavor might be in order... :).

Argh! C3C gets all the good stuff :(

It does sound fun. I wish I could play with biqs and make em with civ vanilla. :(

I hadn't considered producing a vanilla Civ version of the mod, but I can look into it if there's a significant amount of interest in such a version. My guess is that such a translation would be nontrivial, unfortunately. I agree with kairob in that the best solution may be for you to get C3C, chaseclift. Purchasing Conquests wouldn't be that expensive, and it would make your gaming experience that much better :).

In other news, I have uncovered a bug. Months of internal testing, a month of open beta, and we still have a problem! Privateers and Man-O-Wars do not enslave in the 1.0 version. I think this is a bizarre consequence of having removed the Stealth Fighter. In any case, I have corrected the issue and attached a version 1.01 to the first post in this thread.

Very nice work..
I too would love to see a Civ3 vanilla version of this, even it overwrites files..
I have Conquests but for some reason I just actually prefer the Original vanilla version ,, ... :)

Hmm, that's two votes for a vanilla. That's enough incentive that I'll look into it, though I make no promises ;). I haven't played Vanilla in eons. I'm curious, what's the appeal over Conquests?

That would be moot in a mod.

I myself would try to throw something like that together, but i don't have much free time. I just downloaded this to see if i could do anything with it in my free time.

It sounds to me as if people want flavored units in the Vanilla game with out any rule modifications. Let me emphasize that there are several nontrivial rule changes in this mod for improved game balance and playability. I could go in and just add the units to the Vanilla game, but that isn't exactly what I had in mind when I set about putting things together.

In any event, I did a little research as to what it might take to accomplish a conversion to Vanilla. The good news is that the pediaicons.txt and civilopedia.txt files should be more or less recyclable. They wouldn't have to be rewritten, which would be a big time saver. The bad news is that all the units would once again have to manually created, this time in the Vanilla scenario editor. Even with Steph's beta editor, there's no way to copy and paste units built in Conquests over to Civ3 Vanilla. (If I'm wrong on this and someone knows how, please tell me!) For those of you that have never attempted adding 150 units, this is a mindless, tedious task that takes several hours to do correctly.

Believe it or not, my free time is not infinite either ;). If you get 10 people to say they'd use a Vanilla scenario, I'll do it. Otherwise, I prefer to focus my improvement efforts towards supporting the 70+ downloaders of the Conquest version.

Should I ask steph and see what he has to say?
