First off, the Mongols have the cities of New Sarai and Old Sarai. To simplify, I will name one of them Sarai and the other one Provender Point. I will take the typical screenie of the city once I conquer it, and then many as the city grows again and gets improvements that show up on the terrain.
I don't have any screenies, because I don't have anything to show for the progression of the game since the last post. I got Huayna Capac to convert to Judaism, and he has become quite a strong ally. All of the sudden that snooty Napoleon, refusing to be my friend, has become very nice. I will sign a permanent alliance with him once I unlock Fascism. My civics have changed, I switched to Pacifism and Nationalism. It is 1750 A.D., I have 12 gold left (upgrading units later in the game is destructively expensive), but am generating +64 per turn. I am currently researching Chemistry and will complete that in 7 turns. Here all the units I have, and what I plan to do with them:
1 Great Scientist - The only technological rival I have is France, my future ally. So, I don't need to unlock a tech and decided to save him for another golden age.
4 Workers - I have at least half of my territory terraformed, and all resources unlocked and all cities connected by roads. I am now spreading out to eventually have every square with a road and an improvement.
12 Crossbowmen - These upgrade to Redcoats, but I still have a lot of them left. It would be easier to switch production in all 12 of my cities to Redcoats and save these units to finish off injured enemies than to upgrade them all. But, I've still got a good 10 turns before the war with Mongolia starts.
2 War Elephants - I have been shockingly lucky with resources, and ivory is rather rare from what I've seen on the map. These things are powerful from what I've heard, but they're about to upgrade to cavalry.
4 Knights - Also in the process of upgrading thse things to cavalry, but focusing on getting as many Redcoats as possible above all else.
8 Pikemen - Soon all of my cities will have 2 Redcoats defending them. But I am already almost bankrupt.
1 Musketman - I skipped over upgrading pikemen to musketmen for the most part, but I am facing no real threats.
9 Redcoats - The Mongols aren't that advanced, so I could easily use these mainly defensive units to conquer Kublai Khan.
1 Caravel - I used this to escort some missionaries to the Inca, now it is just sitting docked.
7 Galleons - Just sitting docked until I invade Mongolia.
It's going to remain quiet for a couple turns more in my game, until, with a fully-upgraded army, I all of the sudden land at the far end of the Mongol Empire. But first, I have to get Napoleon to declare war on Kublai so their units will be distracted.
