Force Resolution?

My mom just got me Conquests yesterday (Woo Hoo!) and I installed it on my sisters computer (and mine) however it doesnt show up properly since my sisters computer doesnt support 1024x768, which is required by the game. Is there a way to force the games resoulution to 800x600?

Btw, changing desktop resoultion doesn't work since the game automatically switches to the appropriate resolution. Thx.

Minimum res is 1024x768. You might be able to run it at a lower res, but it won't look right.

Add KeepRes=1 to your conquests.ini in your conquests folder. It will keep the higher resolution then.

Actually that didn't help. However I found a solution. I simply moved the screen (not the monitor) to the right some which cleared up all the interference lines. Theres still some but its not a nuisance.

Why didnt I move it to the left? Because for some reason its not even, I wouldn't be able to see a lot of the game if I moved it to the left.

Hmm...sounds like it's changing your refresh rate too. If you know your rate, you can force it to that rate by adding Refresh=XX to the .ini.

I'm surprised it didn't work. You did edit the .ini file for the game you're trying to play, right? Each version has one (civilization3.ini, ptw.ini and conquests.ini)...did you edit the right file? I have it used this switch setting since forever, so I know it works. The refresh problem is most likely seperate from the resolution problem.

As I said before it works. All I did was mess with the buttons on the monitor to adjust the screen to move to the right. I believe the problem was that the monitor couldn't display 1024x768 very well. Anyways the thing is its not a problem, however, thanks for your help.
