Foreign submarine in Swedish waters

Oh noes they've silenced Tol
They are everywhere!

British fishermen caught another submarine in North Sea.
Submarine was Russian of course, no need to even mention that.

I propose to declare a month of Russian submarine hunt.
Everyone should catch a Russian submarine, or at least declare that it was caught.
...it was that... no, THAT big! :)
That's what she said!

But more seriously, if the Daily Fail is your source of information…
I thought the baltic and arctic fleets were jointed?
'Tis not ſo, my faire ſir.
Okay, this part is too funny:

TheFisherman said:
He added he was told by the coastguard that there was no Nato submarine activity in the area where the incident took place.

I was on a NATO submarine and I wasn't cleared for submarine location data. Submarine location data is, as far as I know, the very top link in the world of "top secret" classifications. I would be surprised if the Commandant of the Coast Guard is on the need to know list for submarine location data, and I flatly guarantee that anyone in the Coast Guard that some fisherman could get hold of is not.
How can you (dis)prove the (in)existence of something that is not there?
It's unfeasible, just look at the map.

That was the special coast guard, who knows locations of all NATO submarines and also can identify Russian submarine without seeing it :)
Erm, Sirius…

Why would we be lynching negroes?

The potential sighting of a sub which the marine says was a workboat, was made a week after the large operation. Nothing else has changed. Don't believe every little news story you see from the Russian media... :( You've learned nothing?

Like the story about British fishermen who caught another big Russian submarine in their nets? :)
In this instance I suspect you were an innocent victim of the Russian propaganda like the rest. They're getting to you :assimilate:

I haven't read anything about the British incident until now. I'm still on the Swedish one. I admit it wasn't that obvious..

are there any numbers -out of top secret files- on the number of fishing boats that actually caught a speeding sub and lost the nets or the ship as a result ?

I doubt it. Fishing boats lose nets. Sometimes they know what they snagged on, sometimes they don't. Sometimes when the don't they say "submarine", and sometimes maybe it is. But I don't know of any practical way to know, so counting is pretty much out. There wouldn't even be any official classified way to count because a sub catching a fishing net may not even notice.

Good news is that I doubt a fishing boat would get sunk by snagging a sub. Nets tear away easily enough to prevent that. If you want to sink something you have to snag a tugboat by the tow cable.

Actually, there is a practical way. Carpet bomb the area with depth charges.

I propose to wait until 2020. Russian ministry of defense just announced they'll build 15 new nuclear subs by then (8 Yasen class and 7 Borei class), bringing the total to 30... or 50, when we count conventional subs as well. So there'll be plenty for everyone.

thanks , ı certainly remember a Newsweek or Time article that claimed at least one boat had been taken down , and apparently the waters around Scotland were very risky , but then ı see the explanation that the nets would indeed give way .
