Fox-02 -- Praying to the RNG God

GreyFox is on Singapore time, which puts him 2 hours behind me. I *hope* he'll post a got it sometime this morning (it's 7:40am there now). I don't want to jump in and take it, but it needs to be kept moving. I think FOX is the MAN for the job!

We need to keep the momentum going... we've got a 5 star rating after all!

we've got a 5 star rating after all!

Must be the kinky dice. Never underestimate the power of perversion. Incidentally, I just checked the stats. My roller's had 369 views. (Of course, probably 25 or so was me testing it.)

Edit: I just checked. We've had four votes. That's Paul three times and Fox once, right?

Oh yeah, no problems. The fire was huge news here though. All the usual panic about response times, dangerous chemicals etc.

The site was actually 1km from my work, but the smoke cloud drifted south of us in the end, so we were ok. Quite scary though to be driving in to work and see something like that happening. The smoke cloud was just so huge and black.

There's always the sneaking hope it's your workplace and you'll get to go home for the day

Sorry guys, I was hoping Dantski get it be fore I do. Look likes I'll have it tonight. But Paul, if you want to take it befor eI do, go ahead. I won't play until at leats 10pm (GMT+8), since you are 2 hrs ahea dof me, go ahead if you want to play before I do.

Really sorry abt the delay, kind of caught up writing Adv5 report (yet to complete). Anyway, I will definitely play tonight.

Just to keep me on my toes:

See what happens if you anger the RNG God. Those be Bad Omens I say! We're all doomed... DOOOMED!!!!

GreyFox's Luck

Okay, I see we have 8 more enemies to kill with 7 more turns. Question is can Asoka and the barb spawn that many sacrificial lambs for us? (war oversea is out of question, our armies will take 10 turns to reach the closest shore).

As it turns out, we ... nah, I am not going to tell now. We will see things unfold turn by turn, shall we?

Inherited Turn: Turn 220 (1550 AD)

GreyFox: Retracted all fogbusters to allow for barbie's growth
GreyFox: Why are most of the units unmoved in my inherited turns?
GreyFox: Why are most of the units with 4-5 turns movement in my inherited turns?

Bangalore finishes: Worker
Rome grows: 11

Turn #1 -- Turn 221 (1555 AD)

Bangalore begins: Buddhist Missionary
Hinduism has spread: Antium

GreyFox: Turn 1 ends with no enemy engaged. But I see two more barbs appearing in the south, great! 4 units to kill. 4 more needed.

St. Petersburg grows: 13
Yaroslavl' grows: 12
Delhi finishes: Market
Bombay grows: 5
Axeman defeats (4.40/5): Barbarian Archer <-- #23
Axeman defeats (3.40/5): Barbarian Axeman <-- #24

Turn #2 -- Turn 222 (1560 AD)

Research begun: Paper
Delhi begins: Buddhist Missionary
Hinduism has spread: Bombay

GreyFox: Turn 2 ended with 2 enemies down in IBT, 6 more to go, 5
more turns

Bombay finishes: Lighthouse
Archer loses to: Barbarian Horse Archer (4.92/6) <- :aargh:

Is this going to be our undoing? Is this the #30 enemy that we fail to kill taht will submit us to RNGod's punishment?

Turn #3 -- Turn 223 (1565 AD)

Bombay begins: Granary

GreyFox: Turn 3 ended with no enemies engaged, 24 down, 6 more to go, 4 more turns. However, Asoka has built one more catapult. Heh heh.

Moscow grows: 15
Moscow finishes: Galleon
Rostov grows: 9
Madras grows: 5
Delhi finishes: Buddhist Missionary
Antium's borders expand
Antium finishes: Forge
Horse Archer defeats (0.24/6): Barbarian Axeman <- #25

Turn #4 -- Turn 224 (1570 AD)

Research begun: Education
Delhi begins: Library
Hinduism has spread: Rome

GreyFox: Turn 4 ends with 1 enemy killed in IBT, 25 down , 5 more to go, 3 more turns

Bangalore finishes: Buddhist Missionary
Antium grows: 6

Turn #5 -- Turn 225 (1575 AD)

Bangalore begins: Observatory
Buddhism has spread: Rostov

Maceman defeats (6.24/8): Indian Catapult <- The IPM arrives at the last Indian city, and kill us #26
Horse Archer promoted: Combat II

GreyFox: Turn 5 ends with 1 enemy killed, 26 down, 4 more to go, 2 more turns

Novgorod finishes: Observatory
Rome grows: 12
Hinduism has spread: Dover (English Empire)

Turn #6 -- Turn 226 (1580 AD)

Novgorod begins: Hindu Monastery
Buddhism has spread: St. Petersburg

GreyFox: Turn 6 ends with no enemies, 26 down, 4 more to go, 1 turn left

Moscow finishes: Courthouse
Axeman defeats (3.60/5): Barbarian Axeman <-- #27

Turn #7 -- LAST TURN -- Turn 227 (1585 AD)

Moscow begins: Observatory

Now, the IBT netted us #27, can we kill three more here??
Can we??
All pray to the RNGod for GreyFox's luck!!!!

...

...

The Answer: YES! Asoka popped yet another catapult. Ha Ha.

All hail the RNGod! :worship:

Maceman defeats (4.64/8): Indian Catapult <- #28
Maceman defeats (7.00/8): Indian Catapult <- #29
Buddhism has spread: Kolhapur (Indian Empire)
Buddhism has spread: Kolhapur
Captured Kolhapur (Asoka)
Razed Kolhapur
Buddhism has spread: Kolhapur
Kolhapur lost

fox03-f-raze-indian.jpg

That was #29, where is #30? The worker? The worker doesn't count. He was not killed.

The barb city? Nope, our maceman is still one turn away, and the axeman near there has only a 30% chance against the horse archer in the barb city.

So, how in RNGod's name can GreyFox net us #30???

--

The Answer: One swordsbarbie appears, two tiles away from our horse archer.

Horse Archer defeats (0.60/6): Barbarian Swordsman <- #30

GreyFox: Phew, just nice!

Madras grows: 6
Calcutta grows: 6
Calcutta finishes: Forge
Delhi finishes: Library

In all the excitement, I forgot to roll the dices ... :crazyeye:

--

Turn 228 (1590 AD)

Calcutta begins: Library
Delhi begins: Hindu Temple

Now, the official Fox-02 diced is rolled ...

fox03-f-dice-rolls.jpg

Let's seel: 3x6=18: Add 10xp to any unit. Geez ... fortunately, we still have the barb city.

I choose the Maceman -> renamed to XP-Adder

Maceman defeats (7.54/8): Barbarian Horse Archer <- 1st xp
Axeman defeats (3.20/5): Barbarian Archer
Captured Chinook (Barbarian)
Razed Chinook
Chinook lost

I was debating whether to keep it, and in consideration to our coffers, I decided to raze it.

fox03-f-raze-barb.jpg

Novgorod finishes: Hindu Monastery

On hindsight, maybe I was too eager to raze the city ... I should have waited for the XP-Adder (shown below) to reover and kill the archer instead of sending in the axe. My :smoke:.

fox03-f-xp-adder.jpg

This was taken after the attack, so the mace started off with 7xp. Target is to reach 17xp.

Turn 229 (1595 AD)

Novgorod begins: Hindu Temple
Moscow begins: Galleon
Novgorod grows: 12
Rostov finishes: Aqueduct
Antium finishes: Courthouse
Bombay's borders expand

Turn 230 (1600 AD)

Research begun: Philosophy
Rostov begins: Catapult
Antium begins: Galleon

--

I veto-ed observatory and started building galleons to transport units overseas ... I suspect we need a war with Isabella to get 10 xp.

One question to the group: Do you all feel that the game is going too fast? Do we want an alternate to stand in for mucco?

@n0xie: your [offtopic gamestrategy intermezzo] is threading dangerously close to violating the variant. Remember, we are mindless minions, and cannot discuss long term victory plan. But since you voiced something and nobody responded, it was technically not a "discussion" ... :mischief:

--

The save:

Excellent job, Fox. (Might want to blur the dice a little better, though.) Nothing like a skin-of-your-teeth victory to demonstrate RNGod's love for His minions.

Regarding n0xie's off-topic. I totally forgot about that part of the variant, too. Thanks for reminding me.

Regarding our new quest, we definitely can't get beyond 10XP on barbs, so we have to declare on someone. Izzy's as good (usually better) as anybody. Looks like another blood-bath. My vote is get the XP and take one city ASAP, then make phoney peace for ten turns while we bring the rest of our troops over to her island.

Lurkers Comment:

If you all need an alternate, I have been lurking the entire time and would love to poke in for a turnset or two...

Won't be able to touch this until tomorrow, so Rex take it if you can

I should be able to play (maybe?) tonight. Not yet a "got it". I'll have to ask permision from a power even higher than RNGod.

BTW, that "power" caught me on the dice. She saw me back reading this thread and saw the pic I had posted of my last roll. "Wait a minute...are those my dice?"

She actually thought it was hilarious, so she decided not to castrate me yet. Every so once in a while, she'll let me look at my nads. Holidays, birthdays, that sort of thing. Otherwise, they're back in storage.

So, the dice are just for her? Too bad for you :p

Aparently those dice are for this game. It's the only use they've ever had. Remember, I didn't pick the pervert with the huge rack. I picked the nice, girl-next-door friend.

Though, honestly, the pervert friend is a freak. I wouldn't be able to handle her.

Guys, I'm a couple of turns in. Can anyone confirm if liberalism has been grabbed already? It'll only take 4 turns to research, but I've got a choice to make:

We've got a great prophet just born. ALl of our holy cities have shrines. GP is willing to teach us Theology, but Theology will only take one turn to research on our own. If I research Theology now, St. John might be able to teach us something cool.

Or...

I can hold on to John for a while and research liberalism immediately for the hope that no one else will grab it in the next 4 turns. That is, if it's not already taken. It seams to still be full price, so if anyone has it, it's got a monopoly.

Any opinions?

lurker's comment: I believe if you hover over the icon for liberalism, it will tell you if you get a free tech or not for researching it. This applies to all "firsts" for research items.

Check to see if other people have Philosophy and Education, if they do grab Liberalism sharpish!
