Question on the Insanely Promoted Maceman: was he anywhere near another promotion when you upgraded him? I ask because he's now never getting another promo again. Though honestly, city raider III and combat II is probably enough.
 
Nah he was 30/37... but why never getting another? Is there some rule about upgraded units not getting promotions I'm not aware of?

As far as I know he can still be promoted at least along the medic line when re racks up enough experience...

I think I know why your RNG God is so warlike. Eight of your objectives are about war, 10 if you include "Learn a tech that allows a new unit" and "Disconnect a rival civ from a rescource". Seeing as how there is only 18 objectives, your bound to be warring often. Nice story anyway, going along alot better than when I tried it with the Incans, and got "Capture cities from 3 different Civs" as my first objective, when I hadn't even met one A.I.. Not even a single barbarian.:(

Actually his xp should drop to 10 IIRC. I'll check in about 10 min when I finish patching my version to 1.61. It's a shame you upgraded him though: those 7 extra xp were doable since Asoka is easy pickings since we're just going to park outside his city waiting for him to spawn units to reach our goal (xp factory ftw ;) ). But since he's kick-*** already it doesn't matter much. It's going to be fun having him as a tank :p

So since we're the dominating force on this part of the world, I'm going to set all focus on catching up with the rest of the AI. Hopefully we can explore some more before we get more warlike objectives: waging war over sea is tough. :(

I see Isabella... I hate Isabella. Next war is going to be killing Isabella. It's a rule I have. :mischief:

Man this patching thing takes a long time... Still writing and it's still patching. This is going to mess up all my PBEM's and SG's. Hopefully Firaxis did a good job though.

That's right. 10XP unless 1.61 changed it. But the kicker is, he's still got to reach 37 for his next promotion. So he went from 30/37 to 10/37.

I don't think anything upgrades to a tank, n0xie. His path should be maceman => musketman => rifleman => infantry => mech infantry.

Yeah I meant mech inf :blush: They just look so much like tanks...
 
My turns were prenty uneventfull so a short description this time.

- Switched a couple of 10xp fogbusters for unpromoted city defenders (might as well make use out of those barbarians)
- Switched a couple of city specialists to workers since imho growing is better than city specialists
- Opened borders with everyone except Isabella because the **** she is she didn't want open borders
- Got Astronomy in the last turn: switched to guilds for grocers
- Build Christian Holy Shrine
- Got our finance back from 50% loss to 70% par.
- Attacked Asoka and killed his 5 defending units leaving 1 unit
- Attacked 4 random barbs (or rather they attacked me)
- Started spreading Hin around

Looked around the map: we def can't cottagespam. We have too few food resources and the terrain is too bad. We'd be lucky if every city has 4 cottages. This means we should try and get our science slider @ 100% and paying for the upkeep by our holy cities... (spiral minaret would be 'quite' useful). Now we we have 3 holy cities. We should start spamming missionaries like crazy the next couple of turns. Most building queues in the cities are pretty much empty so that shouldn't be a problem.

Now do we have a path to victory yet? With the size and the 3 holy cities, a cultural victory would be doable, but we should start getting those catherdrals if we do. Anyone have any ideas?

We can build Galleons now, so time to get friendly with everyone. There is a Barb city in the south I kept alive hoping for it to spam a unit or 2. Asoka is still alive again hoping he will build an archer or something. Our army is just outside his borders to save on 'unit support' cost. We need at least 6 more barbs to complete our objective.
 
So you killed 9 units in 10 turns? That makes 8 remaining.

I can't play in the next 24 hrs or so, so I need a swap with next player. Dantski, if you get it and play and post in 36 hrs, then go for it.
