Going to need a skip, most definitely, gents. The week has just turned from busy to down-right crazy. I don't think I'll have time for Civ until Sunday and that's with Epic VIII just begging to be played!

Q: Welcome to heaven, mon capitaine.

Picard: Heaven?

Q: Right, Jean-Luc. You are dead. Your artificial heart has failed. Mal-functioned. Ka-bom. A simple mechanical failure and goosh ... your life has ended.

Picard: I refuse to believe this ... you trying to tell me if this is heaven, then you are God???

Q: It doesn't matter what you believe, mon capitaine. Fact remains your mechanical heart has failed. Tell me Jean-Luc, how is it that you get this mechanical device instead of the organic fresh the rest of you are made of?

Picard: I was young then. I was rash, eager to prove himself, and let my emontion takes control.

Q: Wooosh, I see. You mean you got into a fight with some Noxicans, and one of them stab your precious blood-pumping beating little organ from your back?

Picard: If yopu already knew, why bother asking?

Q: Cause I'm letting you choose: I can give you a chance to go back to the time when you were a fresh ensign, and let you choose to stop that incident that would cause your untimely death now. Would you do it, Jean-Luc?

Picard: Never. Die I may be, but that's the price to pay.

--

Right, lose we might be, but that's the price to pay for adhering to the Federation Charter.

I think this game is pretty much over ... we have two choice now:

(A) carry on and concede defeat when Lizzy inevitably launch.

(B) All out attack on Liz to stop her launch, and hopefully pull her score down to our level.

What says the crew?

Can't you invite Lizzy into the Federation then claim her victory as your own? After all, you're nerds. You can't lose a space race!

Well since you've gone to the trouble of arranging a DP is there any chance of getting Liz to attack us? Since Liz is pleased with us it's fairly unlikely but I thought I would mention it.

This is a 'got it' but I will wait until there is a consensus on the way forward before I play.

Load every galley with everything we got and raze London. That would stop Lizzy and maybe we could get space/time victory.

Well that's one for the 'do or die' mission. Anyone else care to give their views?

I'm up in the SGOTM tomorrow. I'll try and play this tomorrow as well but it may slip a day... Looks like it's 'Fight them on the beaches' time.

Acting Captain's Log

Stardate 2918.4

Seven of Nine commanding. The Federation is losing to the Dominion. The Prime Directive has been suspended. I am told that things are different when we are fighting for survival. I am not wholly convinced by this argument. However I will obey my orders. I am to prepare an armada to assault and destroy the capital of the Dominion.

Reviewing the build orders of our planets I see we are still producing components required for the abortive attempt to build a ship capable of traversing galaxies. I change these planetry build requirements to build up our military.

The majority of our assault forces are still near Yaroslavi. I start moving them to be closer to the Dominion.

We receive a general subspace message.

UNSecGen-1991AD.jpg

The Dominion is obviously trying a multi pronged strategy to win.

UNBuild-1991AD.jpg

My choice is logical and as such is successful.

UNSecGenResult-1992AD.jpg

Whilst continuing to build up our forces I successfully proposed the adoption of Free Religion. Only the Romulans and Ferengi opposed it. However it did not make a significant difference to how other civilizations regard us. I subsequently carried out an experiment to determine just who are our allies.

DiploVicVote-1999AD.jpg

The results were as expected.

DiploVicResult-2000AD.jpg

The Daystrom Institute informs me that the Dominion must research the Fusion and Genetics technologies before they can complete their galaxy traversing ship. According to inteliigence they have still not achieved this.

Our assault force has been assembled and is now proceeding towards the Dominion.

Command Codes

Be veeeerrryyy veeerrrryy frightened...... Aye Caramba
DOH........I am up......maybe get to it later tonight if I am brave.

(doesn't bravery come in a bottle of CC)

Greyfox Captain you hiding in the holodeck? Which routine are you running the hot Asian chick across the street one? (could I borrow it please, please......)

Nope, I am not hiding. I a secretly conducting planning sessions with section 31 to devise a plan to poison the shape-shifters ...

Good going ... but have we declared? If not, those forces were be kicked out of the border once we declared, so you will have move them out first.

Prepare for impact.

We are about to engage the borg Jem Hadars.

--

We still have to move them to London as the capitol would be the one to raze since it will dissolve the spaceship. I am correct about that?

I did notice that the Cardassians don't much like Lizzy and HC is cautious. I will attempt to become better friends with them both in the hope of achieving a diplomatic victory but a long way off since we need to be friendly. I am hoping to get a few more in the war to help offset her wrath as once we raze London (that's if we can I don't know if we have enough troops to do it depends what she has) she will come at us with everything.

Even though 50 turns left isn't much we it will seem like an eternity the next few turnsets.

Stardate 2001.1

Acting Captain Pike in command of invasion fleet heading for the Dominion. Our orders are to take the Dominion headquarters and destroy it. It has been a long journey and we haven’t attracted any attention from the outlying regions as most of our transport ships are cloaked hiding what’s on board. This last ditch attempt by Starfleet is a desperate one and if successful might not prove to stop the Dominion. Their intergalactic space vessel must be stopped and some believe by taking out their headquarters this will disable the ship.

Whilst on the journey day to day matters are being handled by Earth command and they report as follows:

Earth has build a mech defender and starts a Dreadnought warship.
Libyan is need of health facility so one is started.
Outpost 32 begins to build a mech defender
Moscow finishes a mech defender and starts a Dreadnought warship.
Nov starts a barracks as research from this city doesn’t make a difference.

Contact the Aldorians who agree to allow us to traverse through their space.

Stardate 2002.2

Our invasion fleet’s mission named as “Operation Failsafe” is becoming close to being realized. Just outside of Dominion territory we analyze that their Headquarters isn’t that heavily defended to our surprise. We shall begin our invasion soon and are putting all staff on yellow alert status.

Reports from Earth:

Mars starts a health facility.

Stardate 2003.3

Personal Log:

I woke up this morning in my cabin with a heavy feeling of concern for my crew. The day ahead will be difficult for them and we might be awaking a sleeping giant. We also have received reports of possible Dominion agents on board of one of our Starships. All staff are being tested to ensure all are who they say they are.

Head for the bridge and informed of confidential communication from Starfleet which I take in the ready room.

Yes Admiral, do we have the go ahead to attack sir? Yes Captain proceed and take down their headquarters as quickly as possible. If it doesn’t disable the ship then take your forces back to Earth. But admiral shouldn’t we try to take out a few more of their outposts before leaving the area? No captain our analysis indicates we wouldn’t have enough left over to take the rest of the outposts in that area. You would only waste troops that are better used to defend Earth when the time comes. Yes sir and may fortune favour the foolish.

Return to the bridge and order the fleet to “Red Alert”. The Claxon is a reminder of our day ahead and we declare on the Dominion and drop our forces just outside their HQ. We attack and loose our artillery but our tanks prevail and destroy the outpost.

We are informed by Starfleet that the ship is not disabled and near completion. They order us to leave the area when we can and preserve what we have left for defense at home.

Civ4ScreenShot0469.jpg

Stardate 2004.4

The mood aboard the USS Enterprise is somber considering not being able to slow the Dominion down. We begin evacuation of our troops and ready our ships to head back to Earth. Not a failure in my eyes but simply unexpected that their ship was not disabled.

Earth reports:

We are contacted by the Vulcans who request a the following trade:

Mass Media for Computers and 970 gold and is declined of course too much in their favor.

Earth builds Dreadnought ship.
DSN starts a Mech defender
St. Petersburg starts a health facility (granary)

Civ4ScreenShot0470.jpg

Stardate 2005.5

The fleet has left the area and is taking some hits along the way but no losses to report.

Earth system is getting hit hard by Bombers (stealth) and loose many improvements.

We discover composites and start on fiber optics.
Epsilon start a mech defender

Civ4ScreenShot0471.jpg

Stardate 2006.6

Aldorians just declared war on Starfleet. (motivated by the Dominion)

Again we are being hit hard in Earth system by Stealth bombers and no workers there to help fix this. We do what we can in the way of air defense but prop aircraft suck against stealth bombers. We loose aluminum and Vulcans won’t help by giving us theirs although we lost the oil too but I think we have more than once source of that.

Stardate 2007.7

We loose to the Dominion by Space victory.

Here's the last save if anybody wants to look

(PS I am a turn out and miscounted the last should be 2008)

Ossh .... what a lost. Good game, nonetheless. Particularly enjoyed all those trekkie talks and reliving some of the ST episodes. :goodjob:

Game-wise, it just goes on to show how important tech trading is. However, I think it might have been a mistake to go hunting for all the earlly religions in retrospect.

(sorry about that. It's been pent up too long.)

Good fun, guys. Thanks for the great read. (f---ing nerds)

Edit: Take a look at the "Your place in history" screenie. It looks like Izzy spent too much time reading the hippy thread. :smoke:
