I awoke cursing my fortune. The loamy groud to which we were sentenced was harbouring all sorts of vermin, and it was ruining my sleep. I did dream about founding a new city. (Rolled 2 - Settle or capture) But, nations needed to be run and all that, so I got up, and let Oz have a term in the bed. Thinking of the pleasures of post-modern life, I reminded myself to ask Greyfox exactly what he'd done to make the RNG God revoke our birthright. Sighing, I walked into the throne room. Or mud hut with a highly polished stump. Bah, this period was ALWAYS rough.
After getting carried out on my stump to the field across the river, I saw our working men trying to build a road, so I left them at it. Shortly after, one of our farmers to the west told us that he had been keeping a chicken, and it had kids. Perhaps we should do the same to other animals. I thought it was a good idea and in keeping with HIS or HER word and let them at it. They constructed something called a fence (YOU PUT THE COWS INSIDE YOU WITLESS DOLTS!), and the warm feeling inside made me pleased. I think RNG God was happy.
Just then, a priest came running out from his bath (taking another one while wading across the river) to tell me a vision. Apprently we were to build something BIG to honour him quickly. (Wonder in 35 turns) With that in mind, I decided that we needed to learn more about combining straw and mud. (Masonry due in 11).
Moving my stump back inside, I decided it was time to EXPAND! There were horses to the east, and I'd be dammed if I didn't get the job done before it was my time to sleep again! ("GET TO WORK SLACKERS! WHIP 'EM INTO SHAPE IF YA HAVE TA!") To help the job along, I decided to chop some seaside lumber.
A bit later, some troubsome kids were playing up on a hill far from the capital. While they did get a bit of cut from the unusually sharp boulders, I was pleased. Iron Working seemed to be a viable option, and plans were made to set-up a mining town.
A book came out by one of our traders..the good news? We made the list! The bad news? We're hopeless! (Number 7)
Getting sleepy and fustrated, I whip that settler and send him out with an escort - we need a new defender in the capital. Oh well, fighting men are easy to train.
Shortly after I hear the city (Guangzhou) has been founded, and decide it's past my bedtime. All seems to be well...and to all a good night!
So, I got both objectives, and we have horses. I'd feel safer with two chariots. The Wonder challenge is going to be a flop I think...who knows. Anyway...all goes well, and we need one more city by the Iron. Pics coming up soon.
