Fox-05: The RNGod Strikes Back

I was also thinking of whipping out a worker after the work boat as well to speed things along.

You're right about the worker needing something to do. Unless AH is in less turns than the farm will take (unlikely as Rex has kindly helped us along here) The Wheel is better.

Also thought that the settler can found a city one north of where he is currently to make rice only need two road squares instead of one. If barbs are going to be about, second city needs warrior straight away though.

First things first, what is my personal goal for this turnset? Can the luck continue?

Yeah, not with my back I think. Is this even possible......

Sorry, a 4 means this

4 Spread a religion

The luck has gone. I don't think this is possible in my 20 without f*cking up the teams goal chances. So it looks like we are 3 for 3 in personal challenges failed then!

Anyway, to the team challange! We have 26 turns to complete it in. Research is switched to The Wheel (9 turns) and Animal Husbandry will be 12 turns after that. Can we build that pasture in the last 5 turns. Will the 4 turns GreyFox spent researching Iron Working instead of switching be the difference? ;)

OK, lets start this baby!

First IBT, the game is taunting me saying "Ozbenno, complete your personal objective, not the team's!"

Right f you all then, I'm spreading a religion. Or not .

Shanghai is founded. An extra fish is there as well. :goodjob:

The farm will take 7 turns, timed nicely to finishing The Wheel. Who was the idiot that wanted to go AH first :D

Beijing grows to size 3. I go all shield heavy to get the warrior completed quickly. Once it does I'm going all commerce heavy to bring the research down and whip out a fishing boat then a worker.

Beijing warrior --> workboat

Workboat is then whipped for 1 pop.

Beijing workboat --> buddhist monastery (for 4 turns then worker)

In 1600BC the following happen.

The Wheel comes in.

One resource hooked up, the other being roaded. We have 16 turns left to finish hooking up the other 2.

Now who spotted the problem?

Yep, our research rate has dropped to 80%, AH is now 15 turns, leaving 1 turn to get the pasture hooked up.

We'll see what can be done.

Beijing grows to 3 and another worker is being built, I select all 2 gold tiles and bring AH down by 2 turns.

I stagnate growth in Shanghai and bring AH down by one more turn.

Shanghai warrior --> workboat

Rice is now hooked up in Shanghai.

2 down 1 to go with 10 turns.

Workboat is whipped in Shanghai.

Worker is whipped in Beijing (I leave monastery there in case the next person has to spread a religion)

Shanghai workboat --> Barracks

And my 20 is up.

Animal Husbandry is due in 2, road to cows will be finished in 2. Can 2 workers build a pasture in 4 turns? We wait and see.

Personal punishment

That's a punishment?

4 whip away (1d6) pop

I rolled again (a 2)

Well, I whipped 3 population away this turn, so that shouldn't be so hard

And a save

I still think its worth a gamble to complete IW .... :p

Re: your personal objective, if you had observed the proper respect to RNGod, fasted, bathed in olive water, and keep away from girls for 3 days, the RNGod may smile at you and gave you an auto spread of Buddhism to Shanghai. Well, at least now we have some warriors.

We do indeed seems to be failing in all our personal objectives thus far .... .... but as encouragement, remember what the Mencius (the most famous disciple of Confucius) once said:
Code:
天将降大任于斯人也,必先苦其心志,劳其筋骨,饿其体肤,空乏其身
English: Before the RNGod would bestow a huge responsibility on its minion, He will first dishearten the minion's soul, torment the minion's physique, and have the minion endure starvation and poverty.

I do hope you updated the signs I left on Beijing and vicinity, else vra will get so confused! :crazyeye:

Without Sailing they are not connected so no point wasting all that olive oil :p

Yeah. The only way I know to do that is via world builder so I refrained. BTW, how do you change them?

So just for clarification: vra, you've got 6 turns to get the cows connected and then roll a new task for the faithful minions and Rex.

I hope you meant "Alt-S" since "Ctrl-S" will save the game ;)

I wonder if, had you not been so heavy with the whip, might we be at a higher commerce, thus afforded more time to complete the objective. Was the second worker a necessary whip?

Absolutely, if we only had one worker we'd not have the turns to complete the roads and pasture. If we were stuck with one worker we'd fail. Trust me I'm an Aussie :p

lurker's comment:
Question about the 'hooking up the resources' requirement: they don't have to be hooked up to the capitol?

vra's 24hrs is up (it's close to 30hrs now), Paul is free to grab the save if he wants to.

Wow, Fox! You don't piddle around with the tempo of your games, huh? Good ol' fashion Asian efficiency. What's it like dealing with of we lazy Americans? That's gotta frustrate. :)

Pretty late for you to just get home, paul. it should be tomorrow already where you are.

I'm in a production of Merchant of Venice at the moment, opening tonight actually, so last night was a late one at the theatre, working out the final bugs etc.

Shakespeare ftw. Who else would write me a line comparable to "Oh be thou damned, inexecrable dog!"
