Does anyone still believe in liberal media bias in the US? If so please explain this. Basically FOX had the most "balanced" inaugural coverage with 19 repub comentators to 7 dem. The satanically liberal CNN was 10:1 rep:dem. There is IMO unquestionablly a conservative/statist media bias in the US.

There is a conservative bias, but I'm not that surprised that cable news networks (not just CNN, ignore the acronym that what I just said makes) have more Republican analysts than Democratic ones for the inauguration of a Republican president.

South Park is waaaaaay liberal.

Maybe at most 2:1 max which FOX was close to but 10:1 on CNN and MSNBC was 13:2. This is not a dictatorship (yet). Bush only got 52% of the vote. Can you imagine the conservative response if CNN covered the Kerry inagural with 10:1 dems  . Come on people this is getting to be a serious problem, the more conservative the media becomes the louder the conservatives shout liberal bias (Rathergate), there needs to be a louder response from the libs, the facts are on our side control the media and you control the country.

Define Media....does that include just news, or everything?

Political news. If South Park or whatever is making a straight forward political statement then that 1 show counts. Will and Grace does not count as gay political media simply by having gay main characters.

No, they mock anything that's stupid, Republican or liberal. It's just Republican idiocy tends to be more in your face and easier to bash. But they'll attack liberal idiocy too.

Fox definately has a conservative bias.

In the UK, newspapers are quite biased. I can only think of the Independent, the Guardian and the Mirror that aren't right wing. Terrestrial TV News reporting is largely unbiased. Dunno about Satellite TV though.

Incidentally, has there ever been a hard line right wing comedian?

I assume those who claimed the US media has a conservative bias are Europeans, and thus see even the liberals of America as relatively conservative. As has been said, there are more Republican commentators because it was a Republican inauguration. Radio belongs to the conservatives, but television and most other forms of media belong to the liberals. Any American who claims that American television media has a conservative bias is an idiot. Simple as that.

They make fun of absolutely anything they can usually, but towards commerce and trade they have an obvious conservative stance. They have liberal social sympathies, but hold the conservative (real conservative, not neo-conservative) viewpoint that many things are not up to the government to fix.

Well said!

It does depend on where on the spectrum you stand though, if you think organizations like the project for the new american century (http://www.newamericancentury.org/) are moderate then that could skew your answer... a bit.

Would you care to offer examples/statistics for this or do you assume that those who see a conservative bias are such idiots as you say that we will simply accept your unsubstantiated assertions.

Err, actually I said that any American who claims that American television media has a conservative bias is an idiot.

I think that it was some sort of subtle sarcasm.

Statistics of the existence of bias? Almost by nature its entirely subjective.
By American standards (European standards would have all of America a bit to the right), there is one major network that is right of center- FOX. Unless you see FOX as the only important network, I just don't see how Americans could imagine conservative bias permeates media. What other networks do you suggest have a conservative bias?

Not really, they never mention Bush and rarely choose the liberal position to support.(not that they ever choose the conservative option)(except for some religious issues, with which they are more liberal)
