BeBro, stop persecuting them at once!
(Sorbian Lusatians are autochtonic inhabitants of southern part of former DDR, Slavs, related to Poles and Czechs, but forming their own branch of Western Slavs. They've had their own national movement in XIX and XX century, but heavily repressed by Germans, especially under Hitler, who simply sent their leaders to concentration camps. Poland demanded independance for Sorbs after ww2, but abandoned them in return for accepting Odra-Nysa (Oder-Neisse) line by eastern Germans.
As being an exclave in german territory, and under german rule for over 1000 years, less and less people speak upper and lower sorbian language.
German authorities do not help Sorbs much: they have divided Lusatia in two lands (Brandenburg and Saxony), and continue closing sorbian schools, even in places, where they form a majority of citizens.. Some time ago some sorbian organisations made an appeal to polish president to demand from Angela Merkel help for them, but, sadly, he missed that single one opportunity to enerve Germans.
first, let me say that this is an interesting topic. but your comments are quite disleading and don't seem to be balanced to me. you quote a video, made by a russian, who calls himself "white patriot" and "slavic nationalist" and then the comments are full of serbs, russians, poles, czechs, etc calling for an independent and "free" lusitia with a quasi-racist panslavistic attitude and undertone.
i don't see any sorb commenting there. this looks like only people from these countries follow this agenda and try to force it onto the sorbs. never did i read or heard anything like "i want independence for lusitia" or "we are not free" from a sorb himself. neither in the comments of this and other vids, nor in recent papers or books. but maybe with some help of your kind of people it will happen.
now let's see what else you wrote. sorbian traditions and culture was nearly completely forbidden in public life during the nazis' reign. you are right in saying that sorbs were sent to concentration camps by the nazis. i am not sure about numbers. most opposing sorbs were either expelled from lusitia into other german cities - where they were denied of carrying on with their jobs and freedom of speech - or into foreign countries. on the other side, "most sorbs remained loyal to the german state, some even joinded the nsdap.[...] many sorbs found themselves serving in the german army" (see Power and the People By Eleonore Brüning, Jill Lewis, Gareth Pritchard, 2005, p. 96).
then you say, that the sorbs are related to the poles and the czechs. i don't know how you mean that. maybe this has something to do with the panslavistic concept from the 19th century, you seem to be a fan of? well, you have to struggle about who is related with the sorbs with the serbs, who think sorb = serb...i never read about poles having any interest in the sorbs before the late 19th century. the sorbs themselves claim to have good relations (in terms of cultural and political bonds) with the czechs, mostly because of the century long history of living close to them.
but ok, away from the babbling.
you say, that the polish slavic brothers demanded independency for the sorbs after ww2. truth is, that allthough the sorbs tried to exploit the presence of the slavic russians to gain more autonomy, not one credible source (apart from maybe wiki *cough*) mentions the poles as initiators or strong supporters. all i remember is support from the czechs. so maybe you could help me out.
in '45 the "lusatian national committee" was founded directly after the war in prag, czechoslovakia and in the same year the "domowina" reemerged after the nazis forbid them in '37 iirc. the domowina still exist today as the umbrella organisation of most of the sorbian clubs, museums, schools, academical institutes, publishers, papers, radios, etc.
so, the czechs offered the sorbs to inhabit the former land of the sudeten-deutsche in the cssr. the sorbs dismissed the proposition and in may and june '45 they asked for corporation into the cssr, which the 4 allies denied or didn't even discuss.
the domowina consisted of many kpd members and was more moderate than the czech based and supported committee. many members of domowina supported a status of equality of sorbian language and culture next to german culture in a democratic german state. but in late '45 they founded the "lusatian national council" together with the committee. this time they wanted an autonomous state.
this is when they asked the un and poland for international protection and support for their idea. but, to make a long story short. this idea didn't gain dominance. the kpd alongside the soviet military administration of germany put pressure on the domowina and soon they dismissed their separatist tendency and focused on making deals with the kpd and the emerging sed to strengthen their rights and position in the soviet occupied zone.
in regards to rest of your writings, i don't know if the sorbs exclusively asked the poles to demand something from our beloved angie. what i do know is that they asked the whole of the eu to strengthen minority rights throughout europe. that matters of minorities are not only topics and decision-making-processes of the communities and länder/regions, but that minority matters are settled on a national scale.
schools were indeed closed. stubborn bureaucratic decisions forced schools to close. those schools didn't have enough attending pupils, so the state of saxony said, that it doesn't make sense to support and maintain these schools. sounds liek bureaucratic crap? yup... anyway, i never heard of the claim, that they close schools in sorbian majority regions. and i am not sure what you think a sorbian majority region is. there might be villages of 300 people with a sorbian majority, but you make it sound as if there were any large areas.
ok, i hope this text is not a waste of my time...
