Great, then I am all set :D. Thanks for the quick reply :).

I'm having trouble finding a list of the QSC scoring so i know how to inventory my so called empire for gotm032. I found some changes threads but they don't imply completeness. Can someone point me in the right direction?

Help.
running vanilla, patched to "Version 1.29f- GOTM Mod"

I can't load the save file. It give me a Load Error message "NOT A VALID SAVE FILE"

Im trying to load gotm_51_civ_open.sav BTW

I feel like I'm missing something obvious

1. Is your vanilla installation version 1.29f?

2. Which start file did you download? If it's got 'ptw' in its name then you have the wrong one. You need the one with gotm_51_civ_xxxx.sav as its file name, where xxxx is open, conquest or predator according to your preferred player class.

1. Yes Im Patched to version 1.29f

2. I think I have the right file its "gotm_51_civ_open.sav"

Sorry, I missed the file name in your first post. I've just checked that file and it loads OK here (on a Mac, but there's no known file compatibility issue).

I don't recall ever seeing "NOT A VALID SAVE FILE". Usually if you try to load a more recent version save you get an IO Error message.

Maybe you can try downloading the file again, or upload the file you are trying to load here, and I can have a look at it to see if it got corrupted somewhere?

Well, Ive tried it a couple times. I had downloaded it with one computer then transfered it to another. So I hooked up the 2nd machine and downloaded it direct. Same error.

IronJeff: Why don't you post a couple of screen shots. One of the error message and another of the initial menu splash screen. That might help with this.

The file you attached loads up OK here. So thre's no corruption in the transfer of the start file. It's not the same one you mentioned in your first post, BTW. It's the conquest class start.

By all means let's see the screenies suggested by denyd. If they don't give any more clues then there's a danger that I might have to suggest reinstalling your Civ3, repatching and remodding, but I realise that won't be a popular suggestion

It seems a download problem to me. In a few rare occasion i dloaded zip or rar archives, then i got errors like "not a valid zip file" when i tried to open them. Re-downloading the same file solved the problem.

Can't be. He's posted the downloaded file, and I've loaded it OK here.

Alan, Ive tried all three files. Is it Zipped? My computer did not do any unzipping.

I'll try and get you some screenshots in a bit when I have access to the gaming machine.

I've already tried a reinstall. could you walk me thru what exact patches I need?? I thought it was only one file. you spoke of repatching AND remodding.

No need to unzip, it's a straight save. You could double check that your computer isn't adding .txt to its name, but I think it would have shown up when you uploaded it.

If you have installed a fresh Civ3 from a CD, chances are it's not version 1.29f. If so you have to update it to 1.29f first. Then you need to add the GOTM mod using the installer in my sig. Then it should run the GOTM start file.

That helps. Sounds like I was not updating to 1.29f first. Know where I get that patch??
