Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

No, trolling is deliberately disrespecting someone's view point or background, post, etc.
Who's ponit of view is correct then? If that's the case then, the mods might as well close OT off completely. I say that it may just be me, but I think the road you are talking about now, and the road that you travel on are two different things. That's the general idea I was trying to say. That's all nothing more to what I said, nothing less.

It's in no way a view point.
Not always the case.

No point of view is correct. And there's a difference between "disrespectful" and disrespectful. Saying you're wrong is different than you're an idiot. I don't know why I'm even a part of this discussion, if you'd rather discuss me then the post itself, well then, that's probably considered trolling.

Not always the case.

Can you name me a case where a view point is trolling?

The French are nothing more than a bunch of pansies who'd run from their own shadow and cowtow to the demands of terrorists!

Wow, you read my mind!

I thought trolling was being non curteous/rude/abusive to the other posters.

Not trolling--- I disagree with the statement because the French are wonderful people.

Trolling--- (insert poster name), you're so stupid someone has to tell you where France is on a map, and so on...

That's what I thought I'd add.

Or is this post just post just a lump of spam trying to hide in plain sight?

BS or not! You be the judge.

Both a viewpoint (not my own) and a troll.

I don't think that's much of a viewpoint. A view point would be the "French are pansies." Is that trolling, not in my opinion, but Methos, you're certainly a better judge than me on this.

Here's a good (if somewhat off-topic) example of trolling:

Opinion - "I think all cats should be tied in a bag and thrown in the river to drown."

Sure, it's only an opinion, BUT you just KNOW that all cat lovers are going to want to flame the OP. I know I'd have trouble not replying with a flaming response (and my 5 cats would try to help me fan the flames ;) ).

So IMO trolling is an effort to incite other members to actually flame.

Thank you, I now see the difference. I'll try not to do any of that in the future.

This isn't really a Frequently Asked Question, but it doesn't warrant its own thread: Has anyone noticed that there always seem to be 3-6 guests viewing the 'Other Civ-Related Sites' subforum lately? Usually, that subforum hardly ever gets more than one viewer at a time.

EDIT: Figures. Soon as I post, they all go away.

Could be those automated bots crawling around. Or people are suddenly interested.

I've been here a while now...WHERE IS THE STATISTICS screen? :D Can't find it anywhere...Just curious.

Didn't want to start an extra thread for this nitpickin' but on the main-screen under:
"what's new?:" there still isn't patch 3.13 stated but still 03.02... Maybe someone should update this...??
