Frequently Asked Questions

Bhall now shares a Hell with Agares, and is actually much more involved with the activities of the Ashen Veil than Agares is. Since Agares is an avatar of the sphere of despair (which was hope until he fell and corrupted it), he is perpetually depressed and can no longer drive himself to do almost anything. (He used to be fairly active, but his sphere is one that drives him ever deeper into depression and away from the vain hope of usurping the Throne of The One, which once drove him. I tend to think that Agares is pretty much an incompetent figurehead now, that Ceridwen and Aeron are the real power behind the throne, and that Bhall is responsible for most actual demonic activity in Creation, including Hyborem's actions.) It is the presence of Bhall, who even since her fall is still an avatar of passion, that drives the demons to act and to devote themselves to corrupting and destroying Erebus. Most of the demonic activity happens right at the border of the flaming and dark portions of the lowest hell,

Hi guys.

I've heard great things about this mod (some people said it might as well be called MOM 2, which is the highest praise in my book :). So I've decided to try it.

I have a few newb questions, some of them may be silly.

1. What is that "patch s" which is mentioned on the top of the main FfH2 download page? Do I need to install it as well on top of the main 360MB FfH mod? Or should I just ignore "patch s"?

2. Also do I understand correctly that I should install the main mod (360BM) and then install media pack (160MB) after it?

3. What are the settings that people mostly use with FfH - game speed, AI agressiveness, barbarians, world size, et cetera?

4. And what would be a recommended difficulty level? (I am a veteran Civ1/2/3 player - I usually played these games at Emperor level or one level above emperor) but I've been only playing Civ4 for a week. Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot for your help!

You need to install it after installing the main mod.

The media pack is optional, you don't have to install it. If you decide to, then install it after the mod.

3. What are the settings that people mostly use with FfH - game speed, AI agressiveness, barbarians, world size, et cetera?
Completely variable. :P There were some polls conducted a while ago asking about these settings, look around the forums.

Probably start one lower than your used to, and adjust from there.

Hi all..

Brilliant work..

A question:
crime rate and inflation.. allthough it's quite intuitive what these things are, i've not found what they actualy do.. and allthough i've had some events giving inflation, i haven't really felt any diference since..

Crime rate will influence a couple of events, but that is all.

Inflation basically makes the cost of having an empire go up over time. Although early game it won't matter much, late game on higher difficulties it can be crippling if you didn't prepare for it.

Minor issue:

When I explore a lair and get specters, I attack them, I get the 'unit is too afraid to attack' message even when my unit does indeed attack.

Kanta,

Note that inflation works essentially the same in Fall From Heaven as it does in 'regular' Civilization IV, it isn't technially an FfH issue.

Best wishes,

Breunor

Its AD 1045, I am playing as Khazad, and next turn, I am forced to declare war on Varn Gosam. Any idea why this is happening?
(Im running vanilla civ version)

I dont even know if that exists in the vanilla version.

It's funny cause when I dont sign defensive pacts, he declares war on me, but when I do, I am forced without explanation to declare war on him.

That would seem to indicate that this is happening when you are in a DP with someone. If you sign a DP, then he declares on that civ, you are automatically at war with him--that's the core function of a DP. You are saying, in essence, anyone that declares war on my buddies, I'll declare war on them.

But when I am forced to declare war, it says "defensive pact canceled."

Also, he didn't declare war on anyone else.

I used to think that was the case, then something happen that made me decide that it wasn't. Guess I was wrong! I'm now even more grateful for whoevers hero died to give me a 105 exp Angel ;) Cheers

Well, I believe that if a unit had Spirit Guide its XP would be halved before dieing, and so the angel would not have as much.

Angels spawned from razing cities will have no xp, except maybe from difficulty level if the Mercurian player is an AI.

I think the free xp that AIs get based on difficulty really help the Mercurians, as they benefit from other players' free xp.

Whats up with the flaky unit graphics? I have a bear sitting on the border of the visible area and it keeps switching between the regular civ bear and the polar bear gfx. When i mouseover while its in regular bear mode, it still says polar bear in details window. same thing happens with others too (popped a barb warrior from a hut, it kept jumping between regular warrior and pikeman).

You probably have unit animations turned off.

If you look at Options > Graphics you should have a box to check if you want unit animations frozen, make sure this isn't checked, and then the graphics should all stay the FfH ones.

I am Decius of the Malakim and have built the Citadel of Light in several cities. I am at war with the evil Ljosalfar to the North. How can I tell what the impact of defensive magic of the Citadel is? There seems to be no announcement in the Events list.

Hello!

Just loaded up Civ4 on my computer, and re-installed FFH after not playing for almost 2 years....

Still as addictive as ever though (which is why I had to keep it off my computer!)

I do have a couple questions about the current version-

Units with hidden nationality can not be grouped even with other hn units- is there a reason for this or is it a bug? It's annoying having to move larry, moe and curly individually.

Council of Essus wonder of the world- is there any building that replaces it's lost functionality? (all units built in this city start with hidden nationality)

I've started 3 games now up through Acheron coming into the world. Whatever happened to the pirate ship full of skeletons? am I just lucky that it hasn't made an appearance or was it removed?

How exactly do the 2 new "religions" work?
