Frequently Asked Questions

Explored a lair and a "Treasure Chest" appeared on the opposite corner of the map. How do these things work? I presume I need to get a unit to the tile, but what then? Also, can anyone else see the Treasure Chest, and if so how am I supposed to get to it before them?

Thanks in advance. :)

Treasure Chests are invisible to all other players, so they can't be stolen.

When you get a unit there, it will have a spell option to open the chest, which will be much like exploring a lair, but with a much greater balance towards positive outcomes. It still might be empty, or trapped, but is usually good, including techs, low or mid range magic items, or modest amounts of cash. Keep in mind if it's an item, you'll need to use a spell cast to pick it up, so 2 units can be useful for a faster snatch in hostile territory.

Also, they're not always that far away, you just got unlucky, it sounds like. :)

Okay, thanks a lot for the info. Yeah, I figured they'd have to be invisible to make sense... otherwise anyone can walk up and grab them at your expense. :)

Hawks can reveal the treasure chests of other civs, which can then be captured if you are at war with the civ that owns the chest.

Hmm, good to know. Are there any other units which can also see treasure chests, or is it only Hawks?

The Perfect Sight promotion will allow a unit to see Treasure Chests (and other units with the Invisible promotion). It's usually easier to get a Hawk, but Perfect Sight requires a lot less micromanagement.

I found out i was reading the FFH1 readme and not the second so i had already downloaded patch j. But when I play it still has the same menu, no music, and mostly everything, LH, CIV FLAGS, Units, etc. Are red balls or pink squares. I have the mod. What do i do to fix this?:(

I u installed then reinstalled FFh 2. But then I get a message saying thatMyGames/CivIV/beyondthsword/Mods is not a valid file name, please specify the file path (or something like that) If I got to Advanced-Load a Mod-Fall From heaven 2 I get a message saying GFC-Could not find primary control theme. It has worked perfectly before, and now everytime i download it it seems that something is not going right. I am using a Wondows Vista laptop, and I had to delete everything off my parents Windows XP. I am usually good with downloading video game stuff but I am so confused by my laptop. And while I am usually good with technical talk, other times it confuses the $@#! out of me. What is the correct file path to install FFH 2 and the patches. Also, what is the most current patch.

Does everything in base Civ4 and BtS work properly? Can you load other mods? Others seem to have had some big problems with Vista (or Win7) and Civ4. You might want to check out the tech support forum for some suggestions on how to get things working smoothly on your new computer.

The FFH2 install program is quite good in that it finds the install path of BtS in the Windows registry and puts itself in the proper place. Where that place is depends on how you installed the game in the first place, which in Vista is the most likely source of your problems. The Civ4 autorun puts the game in your Program Files (x86) directory by default, which is in a hidden and protected file tree for some reason.

The current FFH2 full version download is 0.41d, then patched to j. Make sure your game is patched to BtS 3.19 (best to do in Vista by downloading and running the patch file, rather than using the in-game updater).

Hi everyone

I' ve got a littel problem. Could someone please help me?

I have downloaded some unit graphics from the civfanatics-forum for my own mod (It's simulare to the fall from haeven 2 mod of civilization 4 beyond the sword. It just has my own civilizations and units.).
Now when I start the game, it goes OK, BUT when I try to build one of these untis, with theire new graphics, the game crushes. however, if I add these units in the world builder, then there is no throuble at all. Only when I try to build them in my citys it dosen't work.

What am I doing wrong?
Could someone please tell me or ask someone for me who can?

Thanks already
Glaeder

Hey everyone and espezionally you emptiness, Nor'easter and Kael;)

I found out where the problem layed with my units.
:clap:Kael you where right, it was the button that caused the trouble.

Now however I wonder how I have to create a button for a unit in a way so the game won't crash. Kael, you have created a Movie-Turtorial for creating a Mod. There you describe how to create a button picture for a civilization leader. Is there a difference to the creation of a Unit-Button. What could I have been doing wrong:confused:? Could you tell me( I'm sure others would like to know to)?
And if anyone else has any ideas (sorry kael:blush:) could he tell me(or us) please?

Thanks allready
and again spezial thanks to emptiness, Nor'easter and Kael:thanx:

Hi Arnil

To save a Map in WorldBuilder is easy.
In the upper right corner you have the tool-bar for the world builder. There are two buttons, each with an arrow, one pointing up another pointing down. When you have finished creating your map click on the one with the arrow pointing up to save your map.

I hope I was able to help you.

PS If you've got trouble with english you can also right in german to me if this works better for you;)
