The more I think about it, and the more I download the MU graphics, I realize that it would be no problem to make a unit that looks like an army. All I'd have to do is use a MU graphic for the unit, then add sundry attack and defend graphics for the INI file. It'd be easy.
Have a Unit called "Army" with the MU Tank Regiment (or Rifle Regiment) graphics for the Default entry in the INI file. It'd be a group marching to battle, and once battle is begun, their graphics would change according to the course of battle. Use the Anti-tank grfx for attack and the infantry grfx for defend. Death could be creative, using one of the MU death anims.
This unit would have large hit point bonuses, like normal armies do, but would not have to be built up with numerous units, would not be a transporting unit, and thus, to the point, would be able to load onto a transport ship.
But, my friend, unfortunately, I have a moral disdain for cheating on strategy by using graphics. Let the thread-readers fall to the wayside if they may. I donwanna make a unit that LOOKS like an army.
(edit: Jeez I sound like a whiner)
I have a better solution to the "transporting armies overseas" problem.
Simply make the Military Academy MAKE military leaders, instead of armies.
Transport the LEADERS to their new continent, by whatever means, then make the army THERE.
(Edit after coffee the next morning)
However, I seem to recall that MGLs can't be built. I'll test that out soon enough. I sympathize but I'm reluctant. Not stubborn tho. The idea of pre-fab armies is attractive, if a lot of work... We shall see...
