Friendly, fun, noob to moderate level game!

Got it. I'll either go 15 or 20 depending on how much time I have tonight. Good job on getting a scout! If we can get him promoted to Woodsman II then he should be able to fly around the map.

Info on lake maps

Just thought that I should fire it up to see if I can load the saved game. Glad I did as it has been "protected to ensure that blah blah blah" and I cannot load it. I renamed my customassets to customassets_1 (which means that I am running with no mods) but that didn't help.

Lurker's comment: Best not to use the protection for now, it's a bit buggy.

Already done! :D Another village gave it to us!

Oh no. You've got to be kidding me. I'm back at work now, and I have to be here until 9PM.

How do I get rid of that garbage? I remember selecting some check box at game setup, but I don't remember what it was for. It had something to do with not allowing cheating. Was that it?

What a bunch of garbage. That really ticks me off. How did Firaxis get so many things wrong on this stupid game? I tried going into "Game Options" and it asks for an "Administrator Password". What?! I didn't set a password! I don't even have a password on my computer! What is Firaxis talking about?! I'm just really ticked off.

I'm sorry guys. I'm going to have to wait until later today to post another game then. I got home too late last night to mess with it. I'll have to do it on my lunch again today. If you guys want to abandon this one (and me), I understand.

Stupid *&##% piece of #@@* Firaxis crap *^%$!

Colonel Kraken - it could be some system incompatability between us. I downloaded another saved game from a different SG and it opened fine for me. It also had the 'no cheating' option checked. If you can, post the very first save and I will see if I can open it. The other alternative is that I step out if it is my system that is causing the problems.

for ref - Win XP Pro, HP NC6000 laptop.

I don't understand this. Whatever. We could have someone else start a game and see if I can open it. I'll go home on lunch and start a new game. I don't see how giving you the first save is going to change whether or not it'll open.

I really don't think I have any mods installed. In fact, I know I don't. I have a mod in the custom mods folder, but I didn't load it for this game. A little while ago, I started playing an SG game in another thread and I could load and save fine and everyone else could load my saved game. Wierd.

Stupid nonsense.

I just started a large lakes game @ noble (guess who I got) - I did not check 'no cheating'. I've done nothing except save the game. See if you can open it.

Ok, Ruff. If you want to start things out with that save, then, that's fine. I'm hoping we got as good a start as we had on our other map (it was really nice). Oh, I had also unchecked Space Race because I hate that victory condition because the computer always goes for it. But, I guess it's up to you. Whatever you want.

Ok, I've started a new game as follows:

Map: Lakes, Standard Size
Speed: Normal
Options: No Space race

Also, what does "noob" actually stand for?

There are 8 other players (we make 9) and we are playing as ...

Here is our starting position ...

Oh yay, Louis' my favorite.

"Noob" stands for newbie.

Bummer the map was not nearly as kind to us as the previous one. :(

Are you going to leave the flood plain open for extra food and settle on the plains next to it instead? Just a tip. :) Do what you want.

Turn 0 (4000 BC)
Warrior is renamed "Trevor"
Settler (I was going to rename him but decided it wasn't worth it) moves 1 square west and ...
Paris founded
Paris begins: Warrior
I was thinking of an early religion but Paris doesn't generate much revenue so we would probably be beaten to them. So I decide head for some scouts.
Research begun: Hunting
Trevor is sent east.
There is a cold looking mountain to the south so I am guessing that we are south and the balance of the land mass is north of us.

Turn 1 (3960 BC)

Turn 2 (3920 BC)
Tech learned: Pottery
Tribal village results: technology
Paris's borders expand
Woo Hoo - Pottery! Now that worker will have lots of things to do. Oh - what worker?

Turn 3 (3880 BC)

Turn 4 (3840 BC)

Turn 5 (3800 BC)
Tech learned: Hunting

Turn 6 (3760 BC)
Research begun: Mining

Turn 7 (3720 BC)
Paris grows: 2

Turn 8 (3680 BC)
Paris begins: Scout
I waited until Paris got to size two, moved the production onto the hills for the hammers so that I could pop out a scout quickly - it does mean that Paris stops growing.

Turn 9 (3640 BC)

Turn 10 (3600 BC)
Tribal village results: lots of gold
Trevor strikes it rich! Gold! Could be better - could be worse.

Turn 11 (3560 BC)
Tech learned: Mining
Paris finishes: Scout
Scout gets named "Rumour" and is sent west.

Turn 12 (3520 BC)
Research begun: Masonry

Turn 13 (3480 BC)
Paris finishes: Warrior
The warrior is renamed "Nancy" - short for "Skirt wearing nancy boy" and is fortified in Paris.

Turn 14 (3440 BC)
Paris begins: Scout
Two scouts is better than one.
Tribal village results: a little gold
Rumour strikes it rich!

Turn 15 (3400 BC)

Turn 16 (3360 BC)
Hinduism founded in a distant land
I told you so!

Turn 17 (3320 BC)
Tribal village results: lots of gold
Trevor - now heading north west finds gold again.
Paris finishes: Scout
The scout is renamed "Tallulah" and is sent north.

Turn 18 (3280 BC)
Paris begins: Worker
And finally, we start a worker. I'm not sure if I reset the town workers!:crazyeye: Please check it.

Turn 19 (3240 BC)
Rumour finds another village and spends the night eating mushrooms and drinking village drink.
Tribal village results: experience
When he finally walks the next day, he feels that he is wiser and understands more things.

Turn 20 (3200 BC)
And I'm done. Rumour hasn't been promoted - I'll leave that for the next one up (who is that?).

And here is the save ...

Good start. Hmm, Industrial and Creative? Its time for some wonder building! :woohoo:

"Talluah" :hmm: ... any significance?

Good question, who's next? I could play right now, no work today :D) But I thought it was 30 for the first round of turns?

Will wait couple of hours, and if no response, I am gonna grab and play. :mischief:

I played :D

Inherited Turn (3200 BC)
Rumour (Scout) promoted: Woodsman I
Rumour (Scout) promoted: Woodsman II
