Funny Screenshots: Part Deux

I was testing out a unit I added to my mod, so I placed it and a Barbarian Warrior on the map with the WB. I defeated it easily. Thus, I decided to see if the death animations worked, so I placed a barbarian Modern Armour in front of it. During Barbarian's turn though...

By the way, my Warrior had no promotions whatsoever.

^ On Prince and below you get a number of guaranteed wins against barbarians, no matter the odds. There's also a strength penalty for barbs but that wouldn't usually be enough for a warrior to beat a MA :)

Most people have probably seen this before.. but I still think it's pretty funny.

When will the military adviser get out from under his rock?

Wars are being fought with rifles, cavalry, cannons and destroyers - but my military adviser keeps recommending hunting whenever it's time to choose the next tech to research. I just don't have the same faith in spearmen that he must have...

Also, in this particularly game I had The Great Lighthouse, and most of my cities were on the coast. So the advice for the economic side of things was also off the mark. Researching Corporation will actually hurt my economy by making The Great Lighthouse obsolete and thus reducing my total trade routes.

CivII Military Advisor: "BUILD City Walls!!!!!" It doesn't matter that you have the biggest baddest military and have conquered most of the planet - he wants his walls.

Just spend the 1 turn on researching it to make him STFU.

Even better, spend as much as you can in one turn without completing it, and then kick up your research to 100% the next turn to maximize overflow into your next tech. You get a slight bonus for each known rival that has the tech.

At that point, even setting your research to 0% would still let you research the tech in one turn.

Yes, I meant to add a comment that this is more effective earlier in the game where the overflow would also matter more as well. I like using Archers as cheap MPs, so I tend to pick up Hunting and Archery at some point along the way.

Eventually I did that, mostly so that I could 'store up' some research before finishing Corporation (obsoleting the great lighthouse was going to cost me)... of course, after that the military adviser thought that Archery was the best option for me, right up until I satisfied that little absurdity by building the internet.

I've heard mixed reports as to whether beaker overflow works like that.. so I decided to test it.

- edit - -- I'm moving my overflow-test discussion to a new thread. I don't want to hijack "funny screenshots".

- edit again - I updated my screenshot post to say something about corporation which kind of adds to the funniness. I forgot to say it when I first posted.

Always seemed silly to me that Archery isn't a pre-req for Rifles, but if you can build an interstellar spaceship without Computers.....

Edmonton? :D

What do I do when I'm bored with the actual gameplay? I have no life... T_T

I decided to stop wasting time and not to finish it...

I didn't save it :(

I just gotta ask . . . how do you control where rivers go? Every time I try to "enhance" my capital that is 1 tile away from the river, I end up spooging (yes, that's a technical term) rivers all over the place--never along the logical path I want it to go.

Learned it myself, it's a touch and delete process. I think someone on these forums made a tutorial video...
