I bring good news. Maybe.

If you read my post some pages ago regarding how Firaxis announcements and releases seem set up to match with Steam sales, this further supports the 23rd of January theory, though it lends some support to 28th/30th as well, since some announcements/releases have been made not at the beginning but at the end of a sale.

The third and fourth paragraph also read "All games are invited to participate... will not count towards the normal 8-week discount cooldown." [...] "not possible to submit a discount within 30 days of..."-> This could be a Red Flag. Companies aren't free to discount their games whenever they want on Steam. I wasn't aware of this. Which means Firaxis would want to time them effectively.
---

On Twitter they've just posted "Today is your last chance to save up to 75% off on Civilization VI content." - Does this mean they are skipping the sale? Have they ever? Most likely the game will be on sale again as soon as the Lunar Year Sale starts, so this might be a bit of ruse.

We don't know for sure yet, but it almost seems like they did their own Chinese New Year sale early because something is going to happen during the sale period that Steam is holding.

Chinese new year is 25th januari?

I will look forward to a new Chinese civ leader on social media :) would be cool to have a bit extra Chinese focus on civ 6 with double leader. Wu Zetian?

I had to go check, but the Vietnamese New Year isn't until February 5th.

If there is no annoucements or patch this week but next, I wish they would do a "stay tuned for something cool next week!" like they did for example before announcing Rise and Fall

I'd settle for a video of sara making tea.

edit: I just realized how even that would blow up this thread.
We would immediately be asking if it was Chinese tea, and if so if it was known to be the favourite tea of any noted leaders.

Well England and India are already out of the question for another leader so it would have to be.

I personally would rather her making coffee if it hints to Ethiopia.

You made my day!
Obviously you are talking about Sarah presenting fresh-brewed Gunpowder tea ('gang pao de') - made up of leaves hand-rolled into the shape of little pellets with bold taste & high in caffeine ...

.

Making coffee would be worse than tea: it could hint at Ethiopia where the plant was first cultivated, Yemen where they first used to brew it, Austria or Ottomans (Alternate Leader) where the first European Coffee Houses were established, or Italy where the Espresso machine was invented. AAARRRGH!

Or even Colombia the third largest (was second) producer of coffee beans in the world, behind Brazil and Viet Nam.

They are then followed with Indonesia and Ethiopia. So obviously, if she were to be making coffee, Viet Nam and Colombia are two of the new Civs!

Honeslty if it were to confirm Ethiopia, Vietnam, Colombia and Italy/Austria I don't see the problem.

We have now begun to overanalyse something that hasn't even happened, nor shows any sign of happening.

Truly, we have reached Peak Civfanatics :crazyeye:

..or Plague Mechanics will finally make it into standard game.. :smoke:

But why? When they announce an expansion they typically drop like an hour of preview videos and other materials. It's pretty exciting and I'm not sure tipping their hand before that would make it more exciting.
This is your point of view. As you can see here many people here don't share it. :)
Lack of basic information does not make me more excited when the bomb drops but makes me more irritated. Especially when people are catching each scrapper of anything and generating pages of pure hype desire babbling.
Speculating is fun and generates hype. But when you have something to speculate. Like blurred leaders bingo, or Vesuvius leak.
Otherwise, it only generates expectations. If they will not be fulfilled by third expansion or even DLC there will be just a big disappointment.
Bigger than basic information. "There will be no third expansion".
That's your why.
