When I load up a new game with the mod enabled, there aren't the additional techs? anyone know what's wrong?

Eh, the Workshop commentary is sketch at best. I wouldn't invest too much stock in it.

Some of it has been useful, however -- at the very least, I've been able to identify one source of conflict due to the generic identifiers I was using, and one commenter pointed out an error in my Lua code that was causing a significant bug. On the other hand, there's plenty of commentary about "your mod isn't working!" without any details about exactly what is going on. X3 The comments about Future Worlds not working with the Community Patch were along those lines, as I have no idea what could be causing the conflict between the two, so I thought I'd see if anyone here had any idea.

The most likely cause is that a mod conflict has caused the Technologies.xml file to crash, which affects the whole mod. If you can turn logging on, the Database log should have information about what's causing the conflict. At the very least, information on which other mods you are using would be helpful.
 
To be honest, I have no idea. It's not a phenomenon that ever happened to me while using the mod, and I've run both Enlightenment Era and this mod together several times. I would have to guess that it's a conflict with another mod, but without knowing what mods you're actually using, I cannot tell what the problem could even be. Information from the Database log would probably be the most helpful in identifying a conflict.

In advanced set I choosed Game Era - Enlightenment Era and I could play....but when I play from Ancient Era same problem...how can I enter in Database log and what I have to do?

Thanks! I've been pretty busy with other things during the week, so I haven't had much chance to catch up on the comments on the workshop.

As both mods move techs around in the Information Era, I'm not surprised there's some graphical issues with the tree -- as you point out, some techs likely end up positioned so they overlap each other. As long as you just pick your techs from the dropdown (as opposed to going into the tree) you won't really notice much difference, although the connections between techs will be a bit messed up, depending on which mod is loaded last. As you noted, some techs may end up as dead end ones.

Ultimately, I'm not sure there's much I can do about it, as there's no way I could make the tree flexible enough to adapt to every mod out there that adds new information age techs. :p But at least there doesn't appear to have been any conflicts between the buildings or units added by the mods.
 
I'm sorry to bother you but for some reason I can research any futuristic tech at any era. Any way to fix this

Hi all. This is my first time here. I have not been able to get the tech tree to show any of the new techs or any other aspects of the mod to show up.

I currently am running Smart AI v2, and InfoAddict v22 that is it other than future worlds.

I use a Mac with 10.10.5 and Brave new World.

I am not sure what "logs" refers to but if someone would be so kind as to let me know how to get them, I will do my best to comply.

Edit: I attempted a couple things myself. I first turned both other mods off and was able to see all new techs in the tech tree, Yay!, but It messed with the game somehow and settlers only had options to buy city states like Venice (I was playing Japan). The settlers also had promotions available (like a combat unit), as did the workers. There were several broken images and text lines also. So I then tried with just smart AI off and infoaddict on. This seems to have fixed it.

Now, I am not knowledgeable with things like codes and programming so maybe these are just flukes and coincidences, or maybe the mod has trouble with smart AI running too. Although, I am still not sure what the heck happened with the settlers and promotions....

Seems there's a bug where no nano material spawns and when I add it in using the map editor that tile can't have any improvements built on it except for roads and rail roads.

It's not meant to spawn - it's meant to be produced by buildings

I really should, given the number of people that ask about it. Should I just include it as a note in the resource description in the civilopedia?

That should do it - maybe also on the tech's text, so that they'll know by hovering over the tech.

Would it cause issues if there isn't a reveal tech at all?
 
I'm getting a bunch of database errors when I run V2 of the mod. Tho perhaps you fixed these and never upped the version # ? I tried to send this as a PM but it was too much for the PM system.

  • UNIT_WORKBOAT is needed instead of UNIT_FISHING_BOAT
  • FLAVOR_GROWTH is needed instead of FLAVOR_FOOD
  • The game also does not really like lowercase in TXT_KEY names so there are a bunch of error reports in the xml.log relating to those. I believe the game impliments correctly but also complains about them in the log.
  • The issues with the Policies is mis-spellings or using the in-game name instead of the name used in the XML of the Policy-Schema. For example you used POLICY_UNIVERSAL_SUFFERAGE whereas in the Policies XML it is POLICY_UNIVERSAL_SUFFRAGE.
  • Some of these errors may be hand-me-downs from some of the wonders or whatever that other people lent you. The "FLAVOR_FOOD" mistake is common, for example.
 
That should do it - maybe also on the tech's text, so that they'll know by hovering over the tech.

Would it cause issues if there isn't a reveal tech at all?

To be honest, I'm not entirely sure -- I'd have to go through and look at the other resources the game provides to see what they use. I suspect most of the luxuries don't have a reveal tech (so they start the game visible), but all of the strategic ones do.

I'm getting a bunch of database errors when I run V2 of the mod. Tho perhaps you fixed these and never upped the version # ? I tried to send this as a PM but it was too much for the PM system.

I suspect some (if not all) of the bugs on the database list may be the product of a mod conflict. I did post a patched version on Steam that updated most of the xml tags to try and avoid conflicts, but I hadn't gotten around to updating the copy here on civfanatics yet, so I did that this morning. It doesn't include some of the other changes required/listed, however (such as the update to Nanomaterials).

A lot of those errors look like they may be carried over from some of the wonders I imported from other mods, so I'll have to take a look at those.
 
In the latest version of the mod just downloaded

  1. You don't have table ArtDefine_LandmarkTypes anywhere
  2. The only place table ArtDefine_StrategicView is found is in your units definitions
  3. There are multiple typo mismatches between file WondersCivilizations.xml and Wonders.xml
  4. File Buildings.xml has references to BUILDINGCLASS_FW_LABORATORY, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_BROADCAST_TOWER, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_FACTORY,BUILDINGCLASS_FW_LIGHTHOUSE, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_STOCK_EXCHANGE, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_HARBOR, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_MILITARY_ACADEMY, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_NUCLEAR_PLANT, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_MILITARY_BASE, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_BOMB_SHELTER, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_HOSPITAL, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_AQUEDUCT, and BUILDINGCLASS_FW_PALACE but these are not defined anywhere and do not show as existing within any other file when using Agent Ransack to search through the contents of the mod.
  5. File Wonders.xml has references to BUILDINGCLASS_FW_BROADCAST_TOWER, BUILDINGCLASS_FW_FACTORY. Same issues as within the Buildings.xml file
  6. UNIT_FISHING_BOAT, FLAVOR_FOOD, POLICY_CITZENSHIP, POLICY_MEITOCRACY, POLICY_RELIGIOUS_TOLERANCE, POLICY_PHILANTROPY, POLICY_RELIGIOUS_EDUCATED_ELITE, POLICY_PLANNED_ECONOMY, POLICY_CULTURAL_SOCIALISM, POLICY_RELIGIOUS_COMMUNISM, POLICY_POPULISM, POLICY_FASCISM, POLICY_CONSTITUTION, POLICY_UNIVERSAL_SUFFERAGE, POLICY_DEMOCRACY, POLICY_FREE_SPEECH are all in the Wonders.xml file somewhere and are probably from the borrowed wonders. Most of the incorrent policy names appear to be typos or incorrect understanding of the correct XML-name of the policies.
  7. File FuturePolicies.xml is referencing IMPROVEMENT_PRESERVE and IMPROVEMENT_BIOWELL but neither of these are defined anywhere within the mod. Could be the rows were in there for compatibility to some other mod, but I don't see any references or dependancies in the modinfo file.
  8. TECH_MICROSCALE_ENGINEERING you have commented-out in your Techs file so the <ObsoleteTech> reference to it is generating an error.
  9. You have several references to UNIT_MECH_ARTILLERY within your Units.xml but the unit is never defined anywhere.
  10. PROMOTION_PREDATOR_INSTINCT is also referenced in your Units.xml but is not present anywhere else in the mod.

Thanks for the detailed breakdown, LeeS! Some of these errors are the byproduct of my efforts to avoid mod conflicts by updating the tags I was using for units and buildings.

1. I've never actually used ArtDefine_LandmarkTypes, oddly enough. Looking at other mods, though, I can see that they define it, so I'm trying to add it in. Most other mods use SQL for their art defines, though, so I'm hoping I can figure out how to make it work in XML.
2. This is a really odd one, as every mod I look at with unique unit art defines uses StrategicView to define the strategic view icon... I'm not sure what's causing this error.

4. Victims of my efforts to make my XML tags unique, I think I've caught all of these references and fixed them.

6. The Al Burj wonder refers to all of these policy names, but I'm not familiar enough with the policy trees to know what the correct ones are supposed to be in several cases. It's going to take some time to go through the BNW policy trees and update all the references for the wonder...

I might have to see if I can get an updated list of the TXT_KEY issues from you once I get the next patched version out, as some of the TXT_KEYs have undoubtably been changed -- both the Wonders file and the FutureText file reference TXT_KEY_WONDER_FW_SKYNET_QUOTE, for example, so I'm not sure why there'd be something looking for "TXT_KEY_WONDER_SKYNET_QUOTE".
