G-Major 21

:goodjob: you guys! I obviously took the lazy route on this gauntlet and never tried again after hitting 1790 AD  Seeing that there was a three way tie at 1765, maybe I should have given it a few more shots to improve my date!

Btw, does The earliest finish date wins, with score as a tiebreaker rule apply anymore? I can recall it being already obsolete in Deity Cultural Major a while ago.

Not that I'm insisting, mind it :)

That's the reason you took second. Karmina earned 2k points more. Great game everyone!

Edit: We're going to have to start doing more deity games.

Just as long as Moonsinger and Lexad (and others too) will post some good "How To" road maps for us to follow.

Maybe we should've just called it quits at 1790 and saved us heaps of time and effort :D Congrats to all, it was fun competing with you in the Majors again!

40 turn game...probably shoulda been a Minor.

It sure did seem like fun though! Too bad they left us BTS players out....and Vanilla too really.

Yes, it's like Washington Space double tourny a while ago whcih Grey Cardinal won. Not exactly Deity.

Congrats to the top five (all under 40 turns and < 1800 AD) and everyone
else who finished!

Hehe, thanks to everyone for a great gauntlet! :goodjob:

I rarely had more than 1 or 2 workshops/city, so Mercantilism was probably better than State Property. It had a couple of advantages: Early GEs, less pop at same production, much less costs compared to Enviro. All that enabled me to use every single unit for offense (just one marine remained in Delhi), while running high culture - in fact 100% for a lot of turns in the end. This probably was the main reason for my 32k compared to Lexads 28k and Moonsingers 26k.
As for choice of leaders, I still think Gandhi & Asoka are on par. Gandhi can give you very early Pentagon & West Point, and in addition even a 3rd GE in time to be effective. Btw I used only Engineer Specialist all the way, culture slider works perfectly for border expansion.

karmina, thanks for the explanation. Being #1 in the gauntlet is great validation for your strategy!

However, both top picks for leader have the Spiritual attribute, so one could actually micro manage civics for optimal effect. I still think that State Property has great potential for quickly making a massive hammer output on grasslands and floodplains. Just start with farms and later convert to work shops and maybe water mills. (Clearly, State Property is not required; did anyone use it in this gauntlet?)

There were no time for converting farms to something else. All my workers were needed building track and clearing forests. There usually weren't enough food resources to keep my people healthy. I couldn't even spare 1 turn to rush a hospital either. On top of that, war weariness was also an issue and I had no time for rushing theaters. Therefore, I had to use Environmentalism to keep my people healthy and happy.

I am still playing this, but cannot improve on 1765. I effectively eliminated (by this I mean take capital and 2 other cities) everyone at 1730 last game with an Asoka-build 8 cities (organized trait is the only one that allows you to do this)-begin whipping tanks at about 1700 strategy. A beautiful map really, a long lake allowed attack by boat on 3 civs for speedy elimination of cities, leaving the closer civs for last for trade routes and speed of elimination.... but only two civs wanted to capitulate and I could not for the life of me track down the last cities. Couldnt finish in 1745, waited, couldnt finish in 1750, waited, etc and finally quit in 1760 :(.
