Game Crashes After "Play Game"

If this has already been asked, I must have missed it, so I apologize.

I am using Vista and installed the CD today of Civ 4 (Complete Edition).

This is what I have done (several times before the game crashes):

Play Now button
Select a Nation and Leader (I selected English Colonies)
Select Map (I selected A New World)
Difficulty (I selected Pilgrim/easiest)
Game Speed (I selected Normal)
World Size (I selected Standard)
Your Details (should I put my personal name or use my leader's name here?)
I think click the Play Game button

I am taken to a page that has my leaders information on it (I think). This page lasts for about 1 seond then disappears.

I receive the following messge: Sid Meier's Colonization has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

I haven't received anything from Windows.

Any thoughts/suggestions?

I would appreciate it.

please start and crash the game and then look in the windows event manager for any new error messages.

Also: do you run the game with administrator rights?
