Game Creation Day

So people. Let's put it in writing, shall we? How are we going to do it? Will it be done by the newly elected President on Sept. 1st 0001 GMT? Will the time be later in the day? Will screenshots of the options chosen be required? Will we save as soon as the settler and worker appear? Let's hear your opinion. We need you to be vocal NOW.

Creation Day is September 1st. Creation is done by the newly elected President in an open turn-chat. The original settler/worker combo is saved immediately as they appear (4000bc). No actions are taken until the next turn-chat, so newly elected Leaders can decide on their Department goals and possible game actions. I do agree with screenshots being taken of all the options selected.

I guess the President will not have time to announce the turn chat by the time he or she is elected. WHat if the President can not make it on the 1st? CoC? Or is this a Presidential privelige?

I agree I'd like to see the Pres make the game on the 1st. No Turn CHat is needed. I don't think the game options need screen shots because I am not sure what purpose they would serve. Can't we trust they will make it correctly? Besides, there is still room for error afterwards with all the screen shot-ting.

A screen shot GOTM style would be necessary. Then the leaders, over the next couple days, can organize our general course of action. What should we research first? What should we build first? (BTW, we can build spearmen and archers right away, if we want). Should we trade maps?

@cp - This is a re-post from the -1 turn thread. (That's one thing I don't like about this forum, you people scatter the discussion all over the place.)

I think the Creation Day Chat should be a special occasion for the citizens of the Demo Game. It's a new begining and everyone should have the opportunity to participate in moment. w

As far as the screenshots of selected options go, what difference does it matter if we all trust the DP or not. Why bring mistrust into the picture? We should, as Dis pointed out have reference screens to check for the next game or the game after that. We have nothing to reference now as SOMEONE took all the genesis discussions. We should have them for the future.

And I think the Creation should take place in an open chat, with a log. Anyone and everyone should be able to attend. The time for the event should be decided before hand. Maybe during the elections.

At this point, unless I hear otherwise, I will be posting elections on the 29th in the new forum. If the majority wants to give an extra day between terms, since this is a new game, I have no objection to posting the elections one or two days earlier if it will help.

Why would we need an extra day, eyrei? Are you talking about setting the time for the opening ceremony? Shouldn't that be decided well before August 31st?

The genesis discussions for the first game occured before the G1 forums were open. They're sitting in a thread somewhere out in the regular forums.

For the rest, keep it simple. As there seems to be little interest in getting a jump on the game (turn -1 was shot down hard) just take it at a pace. Have the elections on the regular schedule. The 1st is a Sunday so the new Pres can post a new turn schedule then.

So basically, what you are saying here, Shaitan, is have the elections as normal and when the new President comes to office on the 1st of Sept., that person will post a schedule for the chats, which means the game creation will take place a minimum of 24 hours after that? (Do we still have the 24hr minimum rule?)

I think that would not allow many citizens to attend the creation. If we planned ahead and had the game creation on that Sunday, Sept. 1st, we could hold the cerimony at 00:01 GMT or maybe 21:00 GMT. If we put it off, it would majorly curtail attendance.

Why not just keep elections as written in the Standards and let the game start when it starts? The President could just announce the first "creation" chat for whenever they feel (hopefully on the 1st or 2nd). Anything wrong with that?

BTW, the break is nice... At least I am enjoying it.

It may help us smooth out the nomination process, i.e., maybe we won't have so many unconfirmed nominations. BTW, when will we have our first governor?

That's a fine idea and certainly no rules against it.

The first governor will be elected along with the rest of the 1st term officials.

@Cyc - Chieftess is still the legal Pres. She can set a turn chat schedule for Sunday/Wednesday or something like that. It carries over week to week unless replaced.

@chiefpaco. No, nothing's wrong with that. I'm for the normal election process. Have the new President announced just like last time. But I think the creation ceremony should be something of a National Tradition that the New President is given the honor of overseeing. I don't think they should call the Creation Date.

On the subject of the first governor, we should follow the process that the CoL (or CoS, can't remember which.) Since, technically, there will be no active Fantikan city, we will not elect a governor. The president should appoint one after we have three cities.

Could be that I am excited about getting a real game going, and closing all of the open judicial stuff....or it could be that I need to adjust my medication...
