Game of the Month #1: February 2001

I'm already done! But it went worthless . Right after Manhattan Project was built, all my major cities were bombarded ! I've built a spaceship with only 10,000 people and got half the world. And only...4 to 5 cities fully farmlanded. No, better luck next time.

Shouldn't be a prob to wash the pig (Dutch proverb) before the 28th. I start playing tomorrow and I CAN'T WAIT. I have to wait, because I'm at my parents house now and they have to think I'm actually studying, and tomorrow I return to my own little room, with my own little computer, with my own little CIV MPG.

All right, It is clear to me now. I am a loser. I have bombed this game real quick. I was a little to quick to attack the nice neighbors and they gave it to me up the tail pipe. Boy am I ticked off, I do not like being honest, but I lost this one in 980 A.D. I will try again but it will be unofficial. I like the game of the month though, just hope I dont blow it so fast next time.

I must say that even though I absolutly hate all the mountains on the map, it has been a very funny game.
In 1840 when I was waging a fun little war with the Persians, I accidently let the barbarians take their capital!!! And that made the Persian empire split in two (the Persians and the Sioux) All the Sioux cities where on another island and the next turn they had a major barbarian uprising. I took all the remaining persian cities and the Barbarians took most of the Sioux cities. So right now I have the Egyptians hidden away on one small island and the Sioux only have one city left and the Barbarians have that one under heavy siege.

Maybe next time we can play on a bigger map so that there is room enough for more then the 90 something cities on this map????

Well I'am taking a break now, I have been playing for too long since I only have this weekend to finish the game in - and maybe Monday!!!!

Oh, that's a shame. The opposite was my game: I could have had the whole world, but I waited too long, and then they were too strong.

Wow, can I see your savegame? I've never seen a situation where barbarians (almost) have a complete island. Sounds like a funny game indeed!

The great Wall acts as city walls in every city.For ai or human.Whoever has it.Tripling defence.Phalanx will beat dragoons with walls.

Yes it doubles city's defense against barbs.

I hit a city with 4 vet dragoons and all lost.This is when I decided that the Great Wall had to be obsoleted or it would take many more turns.
.....Then somewhere along the line they would have stolen gunpowder from me and I'd be bogged down until Tactics.

The barbarians originally took four cities but two were destroyed in the battle so they only have two out of three cities on the island.

I put my current game on hold and downloaded this one yesterday. Holy cow, this game is brutal. I can't figure out what to do on this terrain. I'm rapidly approaching 0AD and haven't done squat. Few cities (7 I think), only one wonder, and no real idea of how to proceed. Did someone mention indecision above? That's me.

I'm trying to record a timeline so maybe someon can learn how NOT to play. Ugh!

Whose idea was this, anyway???

Well I'm done with my game!

And I really think that I did pretty well!! I guess that it would be a spoiler if I started to tell you guys what and how I completed the game, and what my score was. But there is one thing that needs to be said: The game is rather hard in the beginning, but just remember that the map isn't very big so you have plenty of time to get big just as soon as you have crushed all the others.....

You <FONT size="4">think</FONT s>? I've seen your savegame and you're really really big!! Everyone, stop playing. It's no use. shadowdale's won. You can go for the 2nd and 3rd place, but that's it.

Hey Matrix, keep quite - It wouldn't beat more than two of the hall of fame games!!!!
And besides there is the top three for score and for fastest game!!!!!
You know the worst thing about the game was using some 45 minutes to change all those Elvis guys into Einsteins!!! But I had to do that to get the science rate up, I want from 1/2 to 3/2 advances per turn just by doing that.

And hey who can't get a few hundred percent in an Emperor game????

I just finished and sent in my when, It's for the quickest victory, I finished in 1280AD, I had a really good game, it's been fun, Hope no one does better, LOL.

Well Johan511 then we can compete next month, but we sure aren't going up against each others this month. My game finished in 2019, so you can say that I want for the score, which btw ended with XX%.

Shadowdale, I've sent a 'personal message' (can't email from here). You've played on after you conquered the entire world, but you can only finish one way. After that, the rest doesn't count.

It's ok Matrix!!!
I actually had few problems with the those Egyptians, they sneak attacked in 1870 or something, so I had to place a transport loaded with spies right beside their city to sabotage their construction and poison their water supply.
But you do know that if I had killed all other Civs in the world and continued to play then it would not have counted in my score - Which is why I never play after the game is finished.
