Time: Before going public.
"What is the Light Complex?"
That was the question on everybody's lips. Well, more appropriately, that was the question formed by everyone's brain which then sent electrical impulses down to the mouth whereupon, by bending and manipulating vocal cords, guttural utterances were spoken that could be interpreted as an interrogative statement pertaining to the electronic device called the Light Complex.
Aiko Sakurada was, for once, not on center stage. She let Katsu Nagato, "that public relations guy", do it for once. Why? Because that's what he was good at and so she would let him do his thing. Yes she was charming, and yes she was pretty, but unfortunately she couldn't let that distract them from the charming, pretty thing she had come up with with the help of some tech monkeys on the second floor.
The room was, of course, that not-so-excitingly-chunky-anymore room. It had gotten old, but it was still very exciting and very chunky to the people who had never seen it before; namely, the reporters, who were all certain that they had the scoop on things (true). The PR guy twirled the PowerPoint remote on his fingers; he was a true Asian, too.
"We'll be unveiling this marvel of user-convenience technology at that expo." Everyone in the room shared a laugh, as if it were so insignificant that it could be offhand referred to as "that expo".
"You'll notice that, true to its name, the Light Complex is indeed, well, light! Its image of white and its faintly glowing beauty make it aesthetically pleasing. Notice also its sleek and elegant design. It's a rectangle, meaning it's stackable, it can fit places, it won't do anything stupid, and it's functional. Again, notice the emphasis on player usability.
"It's called the Complex because we've amalgamated everything on this big one. Our futures hinge on this. And we've got it all. It has four controller slots with a very easy to use slot expansion to bring it to a maximum of eight; just buy the Multi-Exp, which you just plug right into the Player 1 slot whereupon an additional four more controllers may be plugged in (thus it has five slots to enable Player 1 himself to play.)
"We have also put in a handy and large hard drive. This hard drive is used to back-up games in case you're afraid you'll lose your CD, and it's used to store save files to eliminate those pesky memory cards that players have always had to sort and keep track of which games are on which card. We're trying to eliminate that. There are options of expansion of memory - we're trying for two tiers of memory storage, depending on how "hardcore" the gamer is, and in case you run out of memory, we have memory sticks - they're like flash drives for your console. We are also going to be offering external hard-drives, so keep an eye out on that too. It can double your storage and you can even lug it to a friend's house without losing it like those memory cards of the past.
"Player usability. That is key! Remember that. Now, we have online support. A console browser can scroll through various games and even download games directly onto the hard drive. Its online function means that you can find people to play with, add friends whom you play with a lot, and generally be connected to the world, where there's always an opponent. Online chatting is also available, so set up clan matches, yell out strategies, and generally enhance your playing experience.
"LAN support is also simple. Simply plug in the LC2LC cable and off you go.
"Notice that we don't do silly things like play movies or microwave your popcorn or anything. Why? We know you buy consoles to play games. So play games! Have fun!
"And this, ladies and gentlemen, is the Light Complex in a nutshell."

"When are those ads going up?" Her excited voice took on a lower pitch. It was a pleasant timbre and the PR guy wished she could hold onto that more.
"Soon. They'll have everything I've listed here." He was feeling pretty pleased with himself.
"Let's stay away from bus seats, nobody reads those."
"Agreed. Let's stick to some medium level, viral marketing. I'm thinking a cryptic website with puzzles that people solve to unlock the features of the Light Complex. Also think random cryptic messages everywhere leading to the site. It'll be excellent and underground."
"Do it."
