[GS] Gathering Storm Screenshots Discussion Thread

they even spoiled mystery bandana man! What are we going to speculate about now?! D:
Exactly. I was delighted that the FL answered so many questions and gave new info. But now I'm a bit sad that it didn't show a mysterious wonder, unit or natural wonder.
The biggest mystery it created is why Dams per se give amenities. Speculate away where this is based on and how it makes Entertainment Districts more useless.

Looks like China got a new colour scheme.

I assumed the red and yellow civ on the map were Spain but it turns out they were the Chinese.
Also, the cities show up as circles now

Red and Gold makes sense historically/thematically and is probably the best choice, but I'm going to miss the jade hue they've had in the past. It was a nice color and distinct on its own.

Recreational reservoirs. Everybody is out waterskiing.

I prefer the red on gold, for obvious reasons, or even the gold with the jade green.

I'm guessing it's a new man-at-arms medieval replacement for swordsmen.

Possibly, but the Icon is the same as Swordsman, and the lack of obvious metal (mail or plate) body armor and the (by then obsolete) Spangenhelm helmet make Man-at-Arms a poor fit. Only the Heater type shields would be appropriate for the Man-at-Arms of the 12th and later centuries.
On the other hand, if it is a Swordsman replacement, then they are sort of admitting graphically that the Swordsman Unit is the basic Melee unit from Classical to Medieval Eras, inclusive - as it is in the game now. I applaud the new graphics, even if they are not strictly coherent historically - to my literal little military historian's mind, they make the Swordsman I'm still using into the Middle Ages more appropriate...

Remember that each civ now has FOUR colors where ONE gets picked in the game in order to prevent cases of multiple civs sharing too many similiar colors.

New Unit: Skirmisher (costs 400 gold)
New Unit: Courser.
I'm not seeing the "Courser".

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but Dams increase amenities? The other thing on there is Great Bath.

It was said that Dams provide Amenities if there is a nearby Geothermal Fissure.
edit: Nevermind, I'm thinking of Aqueducts.

edit: Ed said specifically in the announcement post: "Finishing a Dam in a city is great: it provides the city with a nice reservoir that boosts your Housing and Amenities."

It still has the normal Swordsman icon. Looks to me just like a visual variant.

Also: Hungary gets a unique palace
After R&F, I would expect everyone to get a new palace. What's a little disappointing is that only two civs get new city art...

Presumably each of the new city styles will be applied to more than one civilization.
We might see a similar situation with R&F where Korea got a unique style but Georgia and Russia shared one.
