[GS] Gathering Storm Screenshots Discussion Thread

Umm, that's a wooden structure?
I had assumed the bases were stone, but could be mud bases around wooden frames. Either way, it is different to the picture in the game.

Firaxis could've taken artistic liberties with the structure on top of the mound. Have archeologists actually reconstructed exactly how it looked like?

Very zoomed in version. That looks like a figure in gold on the front of the pillar. I'm thinking buddhist temple from the imagery.

but artificial sacred lakes would rather point to hindu temples than buddhist ones. Sadly, the domes point to neither.

The colourfulness reminds me a bit of Hindu temples, but the architecture isn't ornate enough, not enough figures incorporated into the building, and I'm used to a more pale colour palette.

It doesn't look like any style of Buddhist temple I've seen. Buddhist temples do vary in style from region to region, but it doesn't quite look right to me.

Are there any Eastern Orthodox temples that borrowed some east Asian elements?

Someone mentioned pingala's abilities, do we have a screenshot of that?

Oh, nevermind. That person probably mistyped and the ability i was looking for is Liang's.

That was my brain glitch. Sorry for the confusion.

I think the unidentified temple could be of West-African origin, perhaps? Thatched roofs, those circles on the side towers could be tribal masks...

Mad respect to all my Civfanatics for getting every last tool tip

This temple is the new Kilwa Kisiwani

I dunno, it kinda screams India(Mughal) or Persia to me.
Doesn't really look anything like Mughal temples. It looks sort of like himalayan temples, but I don't know at this point. It's a weird mishmash.

yeah...I'm getting the sense the temple doesn't exist anymore in the fashion depicted, because Google Images has been useless...just like for Kilwa since it's just a ruin nowadays.

I can't get a good screenshot of the tooltip for Theater Square, but I did see that Pamukkale also boosts culture.

But the domes! The domes!

Lol, its probably entirely possible that its something using elements that are actually not common in that area because the builder thought they were nice and imported them.

At the top of the stairs, it looks like there's a pool of water being fed by two flanking water sources. It also looks like there's some steam, so maybe it's a wonder that's built on those new geothermal vents?

I'm not sure to what extent archaeologists have discovered regarding Mississippian culture.

I also wondered if it could be some sort of Oriental Orthodox cathedral, but I don't know of any that fit what we're looking at here. Most Oriental Orthodox structures are more Byzantine anyway. The golden figure rules out a mosque or synagogue; IMO it looks more Buddhist than anything else--except for the domes. :undecide:
