[GS] Gathering Storm Screenshots Discussion Thread

Can we deduce from this live-stream that 13 of X resource seems to be the base unit resource cost while playing at online speed? Knight - 13 horse, Frigate - 13 niter

No Pamukkale there.

So this probably means at standard speed units will cost 20 resources. As we saw before, upgrading cost 50% of that, so you're still better to build an early army and upgrade through the tree.

But the biggest thing is that you really do need to rush to get those mines up online. You can't just get that one iron mine up and expect to upgrade/build units right away.

Professional Army hasn't changed, but do we know if you need resources to upgrade units? If so, it will be a soft nerf to PA.

I was a bit sad with there being no rifleman replacement, however now that this is a market build do y'all think that rifleman or line infantry still have a chance of being added?

I really hope so. Musketman -> Infantry is a pretty big gap.

No.

I don't think it's needed; Infantry come very soon after Musketmen.

Convert to coal power is a project? So Coal plants usually don't give power except if you do a project?
I would assume when you build the coal powerplant it will auto use coal; but if you swap to nuclear or oil (or build those powerplants in the first place) then you can choose to swap that city's powerplant back to coal.

Might be a project to generate power faster? Judging by industrial zone project it might be that early power plants don't fully power a city.

Pikeman still weaksauce.

I would guess that you have to complete the project once to start powering your city with coal, and if you want to switch to another power source you'll first need to complete a project for that.

It's a marketing build. It also misses the Great Baths wonder that we already know. They seem ok with spoiling units, but not with spoiling wonders as it seems.

Most wonders are in the civic tree though.

Change to Frigates is a good one. But what will you need Iron for, if not Knights or Frigates?

Maybe they made Ironclad require iron to build, but consumes coal/turn?

Maybe. It is right there in the name.

I thought I saw that Professional Army meant you only needed 50% of the resources, too, as well as 50% of the gold. So just as powerful as before. Arguably more powerful.
