GCF1 - Vikings

don't got it :(

A few hours after I posted I popped the game in, and man was it SLLLOOOWWW.... soon my comp was fritzin out and now it takes 5 minutes for a new page to load!
:aargh:
There is a chance, allbeit a small one, that I can play tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have this bug fixed (Norton time) and can play the turns, you'll know if I'm still playing or if I need to pass around 3pm eastern tomorrow

It's official, I can't play ANYTHING until Saturday. I'm real sorry for having to do this, but this game needs to keep going.

Does he, uh... know he's playing now?

Ok so I decided to check and YES..his turns were finished two days ago :wallbash:

The save is on the GCF forums (along with GA's turns) and now it is up to Hakon to make our next move!

Well Hakon hasn't answered yet, perhaps give him another 24 hours until yet again moving on?

Can't believe I never replied. OK, here I am, I'll try to play by Wednesday.

Here we go. That's a bit quicker than expected, for a change :)

1 (1325 AD): Switch Camulodonum to Settler. We need to settle a bit so we don't get unwanted guests ;) Had to move some workers. Buy navigation for 5 luxuries from the Arabs.

IBT: The question: who do we declare war on? has been answered. Germans declare war and attack Risor. Pikeman lose 1HP against 2 ACs, second AC retreats.
Bergen caravel -> berserk.
Stockholm berserk -> berserk.

2 (1330 AD): Try to sink a German galley outside Cirta, but lose 3-4. Relocate an AC from Agedincum to Augustodurum. Change science rate to 5.5.0 (Phys in 4turns, +30). Build an embassy in London. Give the English Silks for an alliance vs. the Germans and 5 gold coins. Send more galleys to intercept the German one. Start to ship units to Agedincum. Elverum founded.

IBT: Karachi berserk -> caravel. Resistance in Augustodurum ends.

3 (1335 AD): Move units.

IBT: Molde settler -> library.
Aarhus pikeman -> berserk.
Rusicade pikeman -> berserk.

4 (1340 AD): Attack a Celt galley and lose.

IBT: Reykjavik berserk -> berserk.
Bodo worker -> temple.
Tromso berserk -> berserk.
Karistad temple -> berserk.
Arabs complete Newton's.

5 (1345 AD): Switch Copenhagen to Magellan's. Extra movement point is useful, at best, but it's the only wonder we're likely to get in a while.

IBT: Physics -> magnetism.
Delhi knight -> aqueduct.
Copenhagen Magellan's -> Palace.
Oslo berserk -> berserk.
Birka caravel -> caravel.
Oea temple -> berserk.
Hareid berserk -> berserk.
Vadso temple -> berserk.
Farsund temple -> berserk.

6 (1350 AD): Science to 3.7.0 (Mag in 8, -9gpt) Succeed in sinking galley and kill the Celts.

IBT: Bombay aqueduct -> trebuchet.
Stavanger temple -> berserk.
Quintuple palace expansion :D

7 (1355 AD): Move units. Get ready for assault on Konigsberg.

IBT: Karasjok temple -> pikeman.

8 (1360 AD): Falun built. Unload 9 berserks near Konigsberg, who is defended by Spearmen.

IBT: One berserk killed by German troops. However, about 5 horsemen killed by ours.
Madras berserk -> berserk.
Leptis Magna pikeman -> courthouse.
Karachi caravel -> caravel.
Odense marketplace -> library.
Sulcis caravel -> berserk.

9 (1365 AD): Battle outside Konigsberg. Kill 2 archers, 2 spearmen, 2 horsemen. Move 1 Med inf into Sulcis to be transported.

IBT: 2 more berserks killed.
Bombay trebuchet -> berserk.
Camulodonum settler -> pikeman.

10 (1370 AD): Kill some more archers. Weaken Konigsberg's defence.

Summary: Well, the Germans have primitive forces, but quite a lot of them. Still, shouldn't be any problem taking Konigsberg - the archers can only take out about two or three units.

:(

Well, if that's the case, hopefully skunk remembers this game
:)

preturn: Switch Leptis Magna from courthouse to temple.

We are a bit behind in tech, England and Arabia has Banking, Theory of Gravity and Magnetism.

Why are the berserks on land outside Konigsberg and not in their boats? They are quite weak on the defense...

IBT - Germany lose 1 archer, we lose 6 berserks.
Cartaghe: pikeman->pikeman
Bergen: berserk->berserk
Birka: caravel->caravel
Augustodurum: spearman->harbor

(1) 1375AD - upgrade two galleys to caravels.
Konigsberg: Germany lose 3 horsemen, we lose nothing, the city falls. 4 resisters, but there is both a harbor and a marketplace so those who are not resisting are very happy. Start barracks. Gather all remaining units around Konigsberg for defense.

IBT - Germany attacks and lose 1 warrior, 1 archer. Our defences hold.
Utica: pikeman->pikeman
Hareid: berserk->marketplace
Batsfjord: pikeman->temple
Agedincum: spearman->temple
Elverum: warrior->harbor

Konigsberg: 2 resisters are quelled.

(2) 1380AD - More berserks arrive at the German coast. We attack Munich just because we can. They lose 3 spearmen, we lose nothing, the city falls. 6 resisters. The city has a harbor, a marketplace and... a barracks! Wounded berserks are shipped from Konigsberg to Munich. 2 fresh MDIs arrive in Konigsberg as defence. Upgrade 2 galleys.

Helsinki founded, start pikeman.

IBT - Germany attacks and lose 1 horseman. The resistance in Konigsberg ends, 4 resisters are quelled in Munich.
Theveste: pikeman->temple

(3) 1385AD - Munich: kill 3 archers and a great leader, Erik Blodaxe, appears! He creates the berserk army that will crush the German cities.

Minimize the research to reap some money. Whip a barracks in Konigsberg. Upgrade another galley. Switch Karlstad and Stavanger from berserk to settler.

IBT - I can't beleive it! A horseman attacks and destroy our berserk army, without even taking a scratch! :mad:

We discover magnetism (bye bye, lighthouse), start researching Banking.

Konigsberg: barracks->pikeman
Hadrumetum: pikeman->temple
The resistance in Munich ends.

England has arrived at the German east coast. Cologne is now theirs.

(4) 1390AD - Munich: kill 3 archers, the super-horseman retreats.

We attack Frankfurt. They lose 2 spearmen, we lose nothing, the city falls. 5 resisters. Marketplace and barracks but no harbor.

IBT - Two resisters are quelled in Frankfurt, riots follow.

Tromso: berserk->knight (time to build up some fast units for home defense)
Nora: pikeman->temple
Fausks: temple->aqueduct
Karlstad: settler->pikeman

(5) 1395AD - We try to take Heidelburg before England does. They lose 3 spearmen, we lose nothing, the city falls. 2 resisters. The city has a barracks. Start harbor.

We attack a lone spearman and lose 1 AC.

Upgrade 3 spearmen to pikemen. Whip the temple in Leptis minor.

This is the German continent as it is now:

The rest will be posted tomorrow.

Very good turns. I forgot about naval assault, that's why the berserks aren't in the boats. Also, that meant they could go back to pick up more units.

IBT - England has landed cavalry in Germany, a lone rider pass us headed north.

Delhi: aqueduct->knight
Bombay: berserk->knight
Alesia: pikeman->temple
Stockholm: berserk->pikeman
Leptis Minor, Svolvaer: temple->pikeman

The resistance in Heidelburg end, riots follow.

(6) 1400AD - Keflavik founded, start harbor.

We attack Nuremberg. They lose 2 spearmen, we lose 1 berserk.

Switch Vadso from berserk to pikeman, since the berserk would take forever to build.
Some signs of war weariness is beginning to show.

IBT - Our wine deal with England ends. Cartaghe riots.

Karachi, Birka: galleon->pikeman.

(7) 1405AD -
Nuremberg: They lose 1 spearman, we lose nothing, the city falls. 4 resisisters.

We attack Bremen as well. They lose 2 spearmen, we lose nothing, the city falls. 3 resisters, but there is a barracks in the city.
The Germans are beaten, they are ready to offer us Stuttgart for peace, but we'll continue.
Upgrade a spearman.

England has sold their wines to somebody else, we could buy ToG from them for all our lux but I decide to wait until we get banking in two turns to see what we can get then...

IBT - The germans beg for peace, we decline. They attack Konigsberg and kill an MDI.

We watch as more than a dozen English Man-O-Wars bombard Hamburg back to stoneage.

Reykjavik: berserk->knight
Oslo: berserk->aqueduct
Richborough: pikeman->harbor
Stavanger: settler->pikeman

(8) 1410AD - We attack Hamburg, kill the redlined spearman, capture the city and a worker. 3 resisters.

We attack Stuttgart, kill 2 spearmen and take the city. 1 resister.

Kill some strolling units, 1 spearman, 3 archers and 1 horseman. A great leader, Leif Erikson, appears! He crates a berserk army.

IBT - A horseman attacks, but dies. We learn Banking->Economics (8 turns). Munich riots. Some resisters are quelled.

Aarhus: berserk->knight
Hareid: marketplace->knight
Verulamium: pikeman->harbor

(9) 1415AD - Kill a strolling arcer. Capture a worker. I decide to gamble a little to be able to kill off the germans fast. Our captured cities get an extremely low defense since all units move in to attack the cities.

IBT - An archer attacks one of our berserks and dies.

Trondheim: army->army
Bergen: berserk->knight
Hamburg, Nuremberg riots.

(10) 1420AD -
Hannover: Our army easily kill 2 spearmen and take the city. 2 resisters. And there is saltpeter in Hannover! Now we can build cavalry!

Berlin: They lose 3 spearmen, we lose nothing, the city falls. Capture a worker. 3 resisters. Another source of saltpeter nearby.

Leipzig: They lose 2 spearmen, we lose 2 berserks.

Start The Pentagon in Copenhagen, could also be used as a prebuild.

OK, the germans are still (barely) alive. That will be easily fixed.

I'll leave to the next player to decide what to do with Russia. As I saw them as our next target I didn't enter any deals with them, so now we're free to decide if we should:
a) invade them
b) trade with them (they have dyes, which we desperately need, and they are behind in tech so they are willing to trade.

Keep an eye on England when Germany is destroyed. They will probably not be as nice to us when the alliance ends. We could buy ToG from them to enter the Industrial ages.

7 turns left to economics, aiming for Smiths.

This is what's left of Germany.

It just dawned on me; we do have a deal where we give England silk for the alliance against Germany and there are 2 turns left on that deal. If we destroy Germany the next turn, does that count as breaking the deal?

To England it would mean that they didn't get the 20 turns worth of silks we promised...

First, Very Nice work Skunk! :thumbsup:

I'm not sure if it would be breaking a deal or not... so we don't need to chance it me thinx. However, it is up to Gunnerxtr to decide upon that now.

Also, do we have a prebuild for Smith's yet? If not, let's get that going shall we?

We have ~150 shields done on the Pentagon in Copenhagen, but Copenhagen is not quite our fastest city on the shields.

We have just started an army Trondheim, that could also be a prebuild.

:wavey: hello to gunnerxtr? If he doesn't post got it within another 24 hours I'll take it.
