[GEM1.6.6] India refuses to research

In my GEM 1.66 game (yes, that's still going on), India has the highest score, but I'm catching up. I noticed that unlike in most games of Civ I've played, India doesn't seem to have all that much tech - in fact, I checked InfoAddict, and they are producing exactly ZERO science!

They did successfully reach the modern era (or maybe atomic, I forget), but I'm in the information era now. Is this some behavior coded into their AI to go all technophobe once they discover nuclear weapons or something? Or a bug?

definitely a bug since there's no way to produce 0 science. OR infoaddict is not working correctly.

Could they have had an economic meltdown, where military unit upkeep costs meant that they had a large deficit that then cut into their science income?

I've also noticed that in this game, hardly ever does anyone complain about my spying, and NOBODY has attempted to spy on me (at least recently)!

Also, there's a rather large gap in the middle of India's territory - it's like their AI went to sleep!

After I declared war on Germany, they built tons of cannons and moved them into a city I'd captured from them - but none of them actually attack!

Sounds like your game is seriously bugged.

I would start again and look at all of the debugging options like, clearing your Cache and ModUser Data (mud) folder and removing any old copies of GEM or CUPUP you have in your Mods folder.

Yeah, might be from upgrading CivUP while keeping the GEM version the same, since I thought upgrading GEM would break it!

Anyway, the game's finally over, so I'll start my next one with the latest version!

Each version of GEM may depend on a specific version of CivUP.
