well in looking at the map my gut is telling me next best move is 4, not 1, as 1 will have us burn a turn using a wasteful 2, since that ridge extends south.

4 will also let us see how good that city spot I temporarily marked is.
 
What I usually do is build Stonehenge and then wait to research calendar until we expanded enough and got some culture from our cities.
Henge is probably not a good choice for our hammers given that we are Creative. Pyramids WITH stone is certainly an option. Finding the proximity of our neighbors and what if any resources they possess is critical in MP games. Obviously Immortals on our doorstep would be the only units that could create issues for us very early in this game. The other civs in this game are not necessarily threatening early....2 Naval UU's, Redcoats, Holkans.

If Persia is not close...we don't really need copper ASAP.

An opening where we get granaries early to speed growth and early Libraries so we can run some scientists to get a quick academy in the Sanctum would probably serve us well.

The MoM is a great wonder imo....especially if we can work our way to the free GA from Music...I have been able to combine those two events in the past for a nice long early GA for the push to Liberalism.

The obvious combination of Pyramids/Pacifism for getting the most out of our specialists early in the game works well in MP also.

Our financial trait does not necessarily go well with a SE...but SE is very effective early in the game.

I have not seen any discussion about religions...I like Confucianism for the free Missionary, and CH's in Bts really boost EP if you can get them up before the competition.

Next turn I would go 1 then 1 again, then start to circle SE behind the mountains.
 
I think, considering we know there is an irrigated wheat to our west, we ought to find a concensus on if we should scout around that food tile or continue with the plan to scout out the cow.

I'll say right now that the wheat looks like an awesome city: 12 hpt and +2fpt or +14 hpt at 0 fpt at size 4 easily. Easily a justifiable 2nd city site, considering we want out capital concentrating on the cottages, and it doesn't require us to research AH to get it up and running, so we can get the cottages up and running quicker.
 
That looked like a good city placement and I want to go SW.
 
Well we could go 1>7...

I was looking at the map settings again...standard..only 5 teams...low seas...there could be LOTS of land to settle before we ever meet someone.

I am fine with exploring the wheat site...but I also think AH needs to be on our early tech path...Horses could possibly be more valuable than copper early with the amount of land there is to explore.
 
Yeah we want AH, but we would need it before pottery if we were to settle the cow site, whereas it could wait til afterwards (ie hunting->AH->Writing) if we were to settle the wheat site first. We also need to consider that we want IW to chop those jungles and start working cottages big style. And we need happiness resources...we need to prioritise.
 
Well, that seems like a no-brainer site for #2 - right now, i kind of like directly west of where the warrior is - it loses a tile to a peak, but gets all the grass hills, plus it should get barb defenders out fast, too.

I can't imagine we'll find a better site anywhere, unless Sulla gave us something with corn and gold.

I think 1 move west (4) is useful, then swinging back around. We can scout north later on.
 
I agree that 4 is probably the best move at this point...saves waste and give more information on the possible settling site which could help us determine between a couple others that we might find between now and 30. Might as well have the warrior look around while we have him there.

Also, this site may potentially have gold...we won't know until we get mining (which should come before our settler anyway).

Happiness shouldn't come into the equation for a little while yet...but as we all know it is never to early to connect it. I think our priorities should consist of getting a few cities up and running, exploiting all available resources and building a military which should keep invaders out. At this point I am not concerned with applying pressure on other civs.
 
Ok, this is driving me insane. Could we please use SW/S/SE/W/E/NW/N/NE instead of 1/2/3/4/6/7/8/9?

EDIT: W looks like the optimal move for the warrior next turn, to me.

I would favor the cardinal system as well.

Edit: But hey, this is going to be more work for Memphus than anyone else, so I'm willing to go with whatever he is most comfortable with.

It might be handy to post a screenshot / link to a screenshot when discussing the new turn. I was confused at first.

Fog gazing says that there is another mountain S-S-S of our warrior. A desert hill N-N-N-E of the warrior. A plains hill E-E of the warrior. A hill S-S-W of the warrior. A forest (possibly with hill) S-W-W of the warrior. A jungle S-S-S-E of the warrior. A hill S-S-S-E-E of the warrior.

I agree with moving W (4) now, since SW (1) probably won't reveal many tiles due to the presence of forests/hills.

but you told me to change the leader name AWAY from council of three :(

so now i am very confused.

As for movement i personaly prefer cardinal system, but either works for me.

i am playing now. general feeling seems to be W (4) to me.
 
I think what GW means is that the leader name in game should be "Council of Three", but when we log into the game, we should log in to the game with the name "SANCTA - CFC login" instead of "Council of Three - CFC login"
 
but is that not contradictory? the login name becoems the leader name. you can't change the leader name in the game. it is influenced by what you log in as.

On a side not. the "culture" in our city says:

100% Super Awsome! haha
