General Turn Discussion

If we are going to cycle around, 139 to uncover as much FoW as possible; otherwise just move 3 and start uncovering teh south. We know we have food to the west, the only other aim is to find out where the copper is, if it is in the west. We still need to find the food in the south though, so moving 3 would give us an extra 2 turns to search for it.

(I'm not voting BtW, half way through a bottle of wine after handing in my dissertation, so I'm probably not the most coherent person around right now).

Although Remake is giving me a run for my money.

@Karhu. Check turn update. We went SW last turn. my question was for our next turn now :)
I knew that! I was just testing, uh... myself?

[...]half way through a bottle of wine after handing in my dissertation[...]
Congrats! Mind finishing up mine now that you've nothing to do?

I vote due south. I want to see what Sulla is doing with these mountain ranges. If possible, I'll be in favor of swinging east-south-east before long.

@Remake20: I had to put the :ninja: in my sig when I saw it in yours. Hope you don't mind!

The program is called Northern Studies. I've been done with classes for several years, but haven't finished up my thesis on climate change within the Arctic Council. (masters, not Phd) Anyone out there who is going to do a thesis; Don't take a break! (Mine was unscheduled, but still my fault in the end.)

What was your program, Krill?

I say we continue SW (more than likely followed by SW/NW on the following turn - depending on mtn formations, etc -- max visibility).

My reasoning is that we should have another warrior soon enough and those mountians are not far away from the Capitol. This will make it quick and easy to check out those terrain features (which I am interested in mapping, as well). We might have an opportunity to bottleneck that area. They will, more than likely, be within our cultural borders at some point, anyway, so I see no rush.

@Kahru -- btw, man...we're super awesome, not supper awesome (supper = dinner). :)

Chemistry, B.Sc, Durham university (third behind Oxford/Cambridge for best chemistry department, basically). I moved off the masters course because I had an awful year last year being constantly ill and wanted to try and scrape together a deposit for a house to buy at the bottom ofthe market.

@Krill...that place looks damn gorgeous man...I guess it comes down to whether it was an act of parliament or when the doors opened that causes that whole #3 debate. I'll go with your version!

But you came back and got it done. Well done! Can you tell us what your project/thesis was? (with out to much science lexicon please)

Hmm. I did my dissertation on carbasugars. Ordinary sugars are a six membered ring, with 5 carbons, and one oxygen, and other stuff. Carbasugars have the ring oxygen replaced with another carbon atom, and you woulnd't believe the intracacies of exchanging those two atoms. It's the basis of a few interesting things, such as acabavir, an anti-AIDs drug, and acarbose and voligibose, which are used to treat diabetes.

Congratulations, Krill! :goodjob: What a wonderful feeling that must be. I'm still a little more than a year away from finishing my Ph.D. dissertation (history). I'll be joining you in Britain for most of the spring to do research on my topic. Of course, you're all finished now, you lucky bastid.

we can't next turn....unless you know how to go over peaks? ;)

IRL I would force march that warrior right to the top. That mountain sure looked like a hill earlier.

-------------------------

What does it look like 2(W)? Can we potentially go NW, SW over 2 turns?

If so, I would prefer that over going just S then SW.

We need to explore N if we are really considering the wheat site for city #2. I'm not sure 1 food source is enough to justify City 2 there.

Now, if copper shows up in the hills...then that is more reason to settle there.

We are up also!

Orders for turn #6

This poll passed with overwhelming support, and our mis-spelling is getting embarrassing.

But that got caught before the game even started! How come it was entered incorrectly too? Being the one that originally made the typo, this is not so much embarrassing but curious; everyone else on our team caught the typo...how did the same mistake get made again??

so i think 1 move SW would be nice now :) then SE SE SE to get under the mountain ridge south of our capital.

You guys are goooood. I'll shut up now except to ask whether we want this stickied and renamed?

I'd like to request that this thread by renamed to "General Turn Discussion" - but I don't think it will need to be stickied since it should stay in generally high use.

My 2 cents!
Thanks Whomp! :thanx:
