GeneralMatt's Creation Thread

No problem... I went ahead and put-up a poll on the main Civ4 page to see when people end games (just as a science project)... looks like I was right... most folks seem to end games in early Modern!

Just the Lifeboats and a small bit of superstructure to texture, and maybe a few touch ups.

Cool! Look forward to seeing the final product!

Looks interesting. :)

By the way Matt, I've been messing around with the Render in Blender a bit, PM me if you're interested to see how you can add images and stuff to the background.

Oh... and "officially", the USS Iowa is an "Ocean-going Coastal Battleship". How's that for an oxy-moron terminology? Covers everything doesn't it? It was the only way Teddy Roosevelt could get the isolationist US Congress to authorize funding for new battleships... insert the word "Coastal" and the US Congress thought they could only be used in home waters... guess they missed the "Ocean-Going" part Teddy had in there. A few years later, Roosevelt was speaking softly and carrying a big stick all over the globe!

DK, Just post them here, that is what this thread is for. :p I tried to figure it out but ran out of time.

Wolfshanze. Tricky guy, but it seems it did not totally get rid of the isolationist attitude. I am just glad they didn't come after our Empire.Though it would have been an interesting watch. I imagine Canada would be lost fairly soon, but though they beat the Spainish Navy, the Royal Navy would have been a whole 'nother idea..

Believe it or not, the US Navy had warplans drawn-up for "likely foes" around the globe and how to combat them in the 1920s... the usual suspects were on there... "Japan"... "Germany"... oh, and "England" was on the list too!

Wolfshanze, yeah. :p But that was the Navy, the Military always want to fight (It is their job right?) But it was the Politicians..

ww2commander. Tanks. :p

If that was the case we'd still have war-plans for invading England today... pretty sure we don't.

But in the 1920s...

Seem any USS Iowa's floating around lately Matt?

Wait until after it is seized by Islamic fascists and extremists. :p  :joke:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe no one has invaded Britain since 1066.

Which is the next unit to be done after the Iowa, Matt? :king:

You're wrong... the French invaded Wales in 1797.

You're off by about 700 years Gaius.

P.S.
I think Matt is going to go after an Austro-Hungarian Dreadnought next.

Actually the Sevastopol BB is next, then an Autro-Hungarian dreadnought. (This was actually requested by someone besides Wolfshanze, shocking huh? ;) )

What I meant, Wolfshanze, about the army always wanting to fight... Not that you always want to invade England, but Military people tend to be biased slightly in their outlook on situation, thinking the militaristic way is the way to go. Often they are right, sometimes not so.

But lets get into politics. :p

You mean shoot-first and ask questions later is not always the right course of action?

Well, If that ain't right, I'll just speak softly and carry a big stick.

Well a medium stick works well if you have a large fleet of Pre-Dreadnought Battleships to back-up the medium stick.
