GeneralMatt's Creation Thread

Yes, also M4 Shermans, B-17's, and some B-10's, regardless of Era. ;)
Alas, I have searched high and low... yet I have not seen any B-10s?!?!?

Working on it...

Some day you will...
...
...

I'm trying to see if I can render these in a flight simulator, difficult but lalala lets stop spamming matt's thread. :p

You're wrong... the French invaded Wales in 1797.

You're off by about 700 years Gaius.

British history isn't exactly my strong point, but I believe that did not succeed. What I was referring to was a successful invasion. ;)

That is, if you don't count the time the Hanoverians were invited over. :D But since they were invited...

I think it is that one, not sure. But I mean, it is not our fault they were not a sea people. I guess they were scared of the Japanese. :P

That Big stick image.. And don't feel bad for spamming my thread, if the mod's don't mind it, well i don't. ;)

I always love using Big Sticks and Pre-Dreadnought Battleships! If only I had an American Pre-Dreadnought to go with Teddy's policy!

As for Russian Battleships... let's get real... they suck! The "WW2" version is really just a crummy WWI Dreadnought that got updated (a little) inbetween wars... all the more reason to work on a more powerful naval power... like the Austrians!

If you do the Tegetthoff class Dreadnought next, you can do a better naval power, a better ship, and (believe it or not), it's not even a ship I requested (so you can honestly claim you're working on ships somebody else requested).

Let's use the Russian BB I posted earlier if you really want a true WW2 battleship! Even though it was not finished. :mischief:

BTW, dutchking and I have been having a discussion, and we have a question... how do you pronounce "Wolfshanze"? :D Wolf-shawnz or Wolf-shawn-zee?

But how in the world would it be a "true" WW2 battleship if it never fired a single shot or rode a single wave in WW2? In fact, it was such a pipe dream, it was never finished even after the war.

Heck, at least the USS Midway can be called a post-war carrier... you can't even say that about the Sovietski Soyuz.

Pipe Dream... I'd rather see models that actually saw service... even if it did just sit in port for four years (that's more then the Sovietski Soyuz ever did).

None of the above...

'Wolf-shawn-zah'

Because I need it for my WWII mod. :D It's a 'what might have been' thing.

German, is it? :mischief: That explains why your mod has 5 German UUs! :goodjob:

I am a little confused, now I cannot remember who requested what, or anything. :p All I know was someone requested a Russian BB, hmm..

When in doubt, take the easy way out... do 'em both. You can do it!

After so many replies and such great work, this thread now has more views than even my quantitative resources thread. That says a lot for the quality.

Eh... I prefer REAL units that saw service... but to each their own...

Well, 3 of them are no-differant then the units they replace... name-only changes, statistically identical. The other two? Both WWII Panzers... which are actually watered-down from vanilla Civ-4's Panzer... the 50% anti-tank bonus the one panzer got in vanilla civ-4 is now two 30% anti-tank bonuses on two WWII panzers in the Wolfshanze Mod... I call it a wash. I have other civs like the Vikings, Japanese and Chinese who have more then one UU as well... of course you didn't catch that.

Actually, the term is "When in doubt, just choose a model from the guy who provides the most background info... which is usually Wolfshanze... or, go with the request you are sure of... like the Hungarian who believes Hungary is a historical ocean naval power, and build the Tegetthoff class dreadnought".

You can do it!

It is a little bit on the easier to read, less technical side eh?

Anyways, I hope I can get the Iowa out tonight, she is done with the bones (I think. :p)

There's no 'bones' on pre-dreadnoughts... all steel and iron! :p

Actually I did, but given your username, I thought this more apropos. Hey, gimme a break, I was playing Grave's mod today also (which adds more UUs) and I just couldn't help but compare it to his! (That is, a few civs get extras vs. all of them.) But to each his own. :D I think that Seven05 figured out how to implement unique names through the art styles without needing an extra UU, though.

BTW, while we're talking about your mod, is there a B-52 out there that actually has bombing animations? If so, it needs to be added - much more fun to see the air force actually dropping bombs on its targets.

That I'd be interested in... you know how it's done?

I requested the Soviet BB GeneralMatt. :wavey:

Whilst these ships may not have seen as much action as there Allied counterparts, they did play an important role during the Great Patriotic War and most survived until after the war. :salute:

For those interested, here are a few of the ships that make up the class (the ww2 versions have the bent stacks which have been added through the "modernization" process after ww1).

Gangut / Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya - http://www.warshipsww2.eu/shipsplus.php?language=E&period=1&id=500915
Petropavlovsk / Marat - http://www.warshipsww2.eu/shipsplus.php?language=E&period=1&id=500916
Poltava - http://www.warshipsww2.eu/shipsplus.php?language=E&period=1&id=500917
Sevastopol / Parizhskaya Kommuna - http://www.warshipsww2.eu/shipsplus.php?language=E&period=1&id=500918

Also, I think that Russia is the only major ww2 civ missing a BB in the game ;)
